Road House
(2024)

Razzies material
It's been years since the last time I wrote a review, but while watching this terrible film I felt I needed to warn people about this.

This movie is awful, the CGI, the dialogs, the editing, the fighting choreography, the tone, but the worst offenders are the script and Conor McGregor's acting skills.

I think it is likely that this movie will get at least two Razzie Award nominations "Worst Remake, Rip-off or Sequel" and "Worst Supporting Actor"

This movie is just too silly, even comparing it to the original which is far superior in every aspect.

If you are in the mood for a super dumb action flick, this might be the right movie, in any other case I would not recommend it.

The Many Saints of Newark
(2021)

Nice production, but that is the only nice thing about this film
Nice production values, but honestly the movie has little to do with the TV show, and there are quite a few random scenes that bring nothing to the table.

A true disappointment.

3 from Hell
(2019)

Loud, filthy, obnoxious & stupid
I have seen all of Rob Zombie's movies, and this is by far his worst movie yet (Yes, counting H2) Do yourselves a favor and skip this one. And one more thing, his wife is the worst "actress" ever.

Chivas la película
(2018)

Good sports documentary
The documentary focus on the struggles that the soccer team faced before obtaining the Cup & the League during the same semester.

It show the internal difficulties and conflict that the players felt during the process, also a glimpse of the coaching and the pep talks that inspired the players to achieve their goal.

Overall an interesting documentary.

México Bárbaro
(2014)

This is a must... a must avoid.
It is not scary, nor funny, is just dull and simply stupid, basically all the segments seem amateurish at best, seriously, i have seen better works from film students than most of the shorts in this piece of garbage.

Two stars out of ten, and that is just because of the good gore in one of the segments.

As a Mexican I apologize to the international horror community for this embarrassment .

Please, do yourself a favor and skip this one.

Los olvidados
(2017)

Completely forgettable
Rarely I write reviews, but this film is so bad, that I feel compelled to warn people about it.

Granted, the trailer looks kinda cool, but that is it.

The plot is non-existent, the characters are all indistinguishable one form another, the acting is amateurish at best, the soundtrack sucks, suffers from editing problems, the twist near the end is so, SO stupid. I understand that some movies don't bring anything fresh to the table (in this case is a Texas Chain Saw Massacre / The Hills Have Eyes rip-off) but this movie is simply too bad & idiotic.

The only two OK qualities of the film are the photography and the locations.

Please, skip this one.

Verónica
(2017)

Veronica screening at Guadalajara international film festival
During Guadalajara international film festival 2017, I had the opportunity to attend the screening of this movie.

In the film, we follow a reclusive psychologist living in a lonely cabin in the middle of the woods, that decides to take as a patient a seeming disturbed young woman, as the therapeutically sessions move forward a mystery of childhood traumas unravels

Now, that is a premise is not very often heard in Mexican cinema, this psychological thriller revives true hope in new stories and new themes for the Mexican film industry and most important to its audience.

Finally, I must mention that from a technical standpoint the movie is very good, shot in beautiful black & white and with excellent camera work.

Kudos to all the staff involved in the making of this film, for taking chances to bring something else to Mexican cinema.

The Editor
(2014)

It starts off fine but then…..
The movie starts fine, a giallo spoof/homages with all the trades of those 70's movies that many of us love, if you have seen enough movies of the genre you will recognize: Absurd dialog, insane amount of nudity, ultra-violent death scenes, unnecessary cuts, a killer with black gloves, crazy colors, cool production values and a great score. For example, the first death scene gathers all those ingredients.

But after the first 45 minutes I felt that the jokes became repetitive. i expected the film to be more focused in mystery and horror and a little bit in comedy but it turned the other way around

I would preferred that the movie take itself a little bit more serious as in a tribute, but instead it became a full parody.

Pyojeok
(2014)

Another solid movie from South Korea
The Target (2014) is yet another cool action movie coming from South Korea.

As many other South Korean thrillers, the movie shows great sequences, super stunts, cool chases, bloody fist fights, fine acting and relentless fast paced action.

On the other hand, maybe is because i have seen a lot of cinema from South Korea, but i feel that the plot was a little bit predictable, so for me the twist was not that shocking. However, if you are looking for an above the average action flick this movie is just the right thing to watch.

Seis días en la oscuridad
(2003)

Awful,
That single word can describe this mess.

What the hell was the director thinking its beyond my knowledge bad acting, stupid direction, awful script and all the picture is very dark it was very difficult to see almost anything. The editing is an other problem.

I believe that any good review coming from this movie must be from some one involved in the picture or a relative from the cast.

No wonder how some of the "actors" ended up doing soap operas.

From the new wave of Mexican cinema this movie must be the worst.

Avoid it at all cost.

Dollar Mambo
(1993)

Strange film
Well "Dollar Mambo" its a weird movie, its kinda of a musical, or experimental film, there is no dialog at all in the whole movie, everything its express through dancing and music. In the other hand the plot its simple, US soldiers invade Panama and they rape and kill a dancer. It was funny seeing roberto sosa dance, the acting its OK, and the music use its fine but in the movie there are a lot of thing that go from strange to beyond weirdness (like a soldier dress as a ballet dancer) but a i guess it was a symbolism.

Overall the movie its too "artistic" for my taste, it remind me "Frida naturaleza viva" another film by the same director.

Hulk
(2003)

in one word
