The Light We Carry: Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey
(2023)

Should At Least Listen To It Once
This was surprisingly good. The current IMDb rating is unjustified, and I usually trust it with +/- 1-degree error. I mainly blame this because it shouldn't be a film but a podcast episode on Spotify.

In this engaging conversation, Oprah delves deep into Michelle's recent book, 'The Light We Carry,' imparting valuable life lessons for young people, black women, and all. It reminded me of the self-improvement podcasts and YouTube channels that are so popular these days.

I'll need to give it a 2nd listen to absorb more of its wisdom and inspiration. The depth of insight and connection between Oprah and Michelle makes it a true gem in self-improvement content.

The Idol
(2023)

Go Stand Over There
Tldr; alternative Euphoria

The people who are rating this bad reviews, calling it torture porn, have never seen a mature adult tv series. Game of Thrones is one of many examples of this. Speaking of mature tv series, The Idol is a great alternative fix if you are waiting on another season of Euphoria. But Euphoria has better highs, but The Idol doesn't have as worst lows.

I'm actually glad it stopped on season 1 though, in fact I would go farther and say this would have been a good long movie instead a set of 1 hour tv episodes.

Anyways, it has a amazing plot twist, obvious great music, humor, and directing. I couldn't see any negatives in the acting, I think people are upset because they didn't get what they want out of the series.

I do wish that Jennie from Black Pink got more screen time. She felt like the odd ball out compared to the other folk.

As About As Funny As Other Female Comics
I think people are just being a little biased. This was about as funny as any other female comic on the current scene. Like to me, this was Amy Schumer level of funny. However, it wasn't as funny as Ms. Pat or Ali Wong. But if you are familiar with Ms. Pat's and Tiffany Haddish's style of comedy-then you won't feel like a stranger here.

So on your profile, if you have ever given a female comic above a 5 star, I just don't see why you wouldn't feel the same about this, unless you are biased. Or maybe you are rating on looks instead of the level of humor.

However, it does start off a little bit more political, than funny. Which I wouldn't recommend, especially seeing she has been on a break for so long before finally doing this special. Also everyone is against her right now for what happened in the past.

If GTO was a Kdrama
The acting and voice dub work, was good enough to give this show at least 5 stars. However they drag this out for far too long. This would have been a better 8 episode 1 hour series. Keep the entertaining stuff, and chop out the boring.

Also, it becomes wishy washy with showing adult content. One minute they will blur it out, then the next you get full frontals. Yet they don't care to shy away from the violence. Why not just do it how "High Society (2018), aka Sanglyusahoe" did it?

Which it can get super dark and depressing. You'll end up rooting for the main female character, however still feel bad for the bullies. Because they are also broken people and victims.

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum
(2019)

It Is A Setup!!!
Chapter 3, is just laying the foundation for Chapter 4. Which is going to blow our undies off.

So here is the problem with chapter 3. It does a whole lot more world exposition than the other two movies. Which is kind of a problem with the John Wick fanbase up until now. Because the series has always been about mindless noire gun action. So what ends up happening, is exposition towards a crowd that didn't care about John Wick to begin with, and then you are losing some of the crowd that loved the series. Hence the lower score than usual.

But that final scene at the ending, really brings everything all together. Making you realize this entire film is just a setup for 4.

Me personally, I'm looking forward to Jon Wick Chapter 4, but still mix some other things in it, and not just action only.

For now, John Wick 2 is my favorite, and 3 is dead last. And I hope the payoff is worth it on 4.

John Wick
(2014)

A Decade Later
If you just want to watch a pure gun action flick. This is it right here baby, 10 out of 10.

However, if you want a little bit more of variety. Then you should just skip this. Don't get me wrong, the prologue sets everything up nicely. But once that is over, it is non-stop action, with very little things happening in between.

Other than that, everything about it is so stylish, from the suits, cars, guns, and hotel scenery.

Another thing that was impressive. Was the dialogue and interactions John Wick has with other cast members, helps perfectly build his overall character. You don't always have to give your main character, a long monologue.

Lastly it doesn't end on a cliffhanger. In fact, it ends just as it started. I love it when you have a finished piece of art (a definite beginning, middle, and end).

Everything Everywhere All at Once
(2022)

Comedy Can Be Deal Breaker
Tldr; Everything Everywhere All at Once is basically a Matrix Multiverse Comedy. The humor can be a deal breaker.

The amount of creativity this film is oozing with is amazing and it even has some great touching moments near the end relating to "the everything bagel."

But the deal breaker won't be the main villain's and main protagonist's acting (because they nailed it) or the well done cinematography. The deal breaker for most people, who decide this is a terrible, average, or GOAT film is the Comedy!

If you don't find yourself laughing at the constant humor throughout the film. Trust me, stop watching it, because it won't get better for you. You would be better off watching Matrix. Which is just as action packed and mind bending, just without the humor.

Other than that, as previously stated, everything else about it is perfect.

Game of Thrones
(2011)

Just Reboot It
Tldr; GOT is good, but not consistently good.

If it wasn't for the nudity, plot twists, multitude of characters, and how close it draws from other historical moments. I don't see how this would be a 10 of 10 series. It just drags on for far too long, and some of the characters honestly get on your last nerve.

What really upsets me, it has some fantastic moments (those moments by themselves are like a 11 out of 10 experience). But why can't I get this consistently throughout the series??!! That is what really is so disappointing for me. The closest comparison, is like sitting through and watching filler in a anime similar to Naruto. I don't want to do that, just edit out all the boring crap that keeps being dragged out with still shots, and leave the good stuff in it. Or you can simply explore (only interesting stuff) the things you skipped over?

Because of that glaring weakness, how can I rate this higher than a tv series like Firefly/Serenity? Which never had a dull moment, but got cancelled due to not being popular enough. Simply being popular doesn't always equal good.

Regardless, it is a tv series that I'm glad I've viewed once in my life time. There is literally a character for every viewer and eye candy GALORE. With family trees, subplots, and lore to match it. Game of Thrones brings a nice fresh take on medieval fantasies (which everyone loves to do, and is kind of over-saturated), while providing some witty dialogue. Maybe one day, I'll go into my editing software, and create a super-cut for myself. So I can rewatch and love the series better.

Aladdin
(2019)

A Decent Attempt
This was a decent attempt at adapting the animated film Aladdin 1992, into a live action film.

The thing I liked most, was the production quality of the music and sound effects, which felt like a billion dollars was put into it. Everything sounds so good going through my speakers. However, the re-composition of the classic songs, was not needed, and the singing was flat at sometimes compared to the original. What they should have done, was just re-record the older music track with that billion dollar production quality, bring back the original singers, and left the musical score alone.

2nd thing I liked most about it, was the colorful aesthetics, costumes, and CGI. Everything felt like it was alive and popped. Acting wasn't bad at all, and the extra romance elements was believable and enjoyable.

The thing I liked least, was the length. The original had a perfect length. This film needs to be edit more.

Lastly, I felt the film was naturally woke, nothing was forced in it.

Uncharted
(2022)

Wrong Time Period
If this was released in a earlier time period. It would probably be a hit. But this is so average compared to something like Red Notice, Mission Impossible, Indiana Jones, and Tomb Raider.

However let me compare it to something recent. So why would I watch this over Red Notice? The jokes and plot twists in Red Notice were better. Acting wasn't too bad, both movies actors rely on their previous roles to deliver a performance. Yet Gal Gadot is a stronger female lead of the 2 movies.

The movie makers need to do more. You have to keep in mind what made Uncharted games so good, is the interaction of gameplay. Viewers of this film won't be able to do that. So give them more to be entertained throughout the experience. Even Sonic did better than this.

Overall, the task to create a good uncharted movie is hard. Considering the video game is based off of Tomb Raider games and Indiana Jones movies. On top of that the Uncharted Games always had a cinematography feel to it, as if it was trying to imitate Hollywood.

Torden
(2020)

Feels Bad
I wanted to give this a chance and like it. But it got worse and worse, as the film progressed.

It is hard to make a film based around Thor, when you have Marvel in this current timeline of the universe.

Reason why I feel bad. Thor is apart of Norse mythology, the entire film Norwegian, even the director and majority of actors. But the Americans have completely hi-jacked the narrative. And did a better job as well.

We can hope maybe the sequel can redeem itself in some way.

Purple Hearts
(2022)

My Guilty Pleasure
I like Sofia Carson. So this was easier for me to get through. But the romance was weak in this. Twilight had better chemistry and romance, let alone it doesn't even come close to Kdrama's levels.

2ndly, music was a important part of this movie. But I think they should have given more time to produce and develop the songs. It just wasn't hitting right.

Over all, it wasn't terrible, so a average rating suits it.

High Fidelity
(2020)

LFP (Looking For Player, You'll Get The Joke)
Zoe, does your back hurt? Do we need to massage it for you? Because honestly, you hard carried the FK out of this show. I wouldn't bother watching something so basic, but you kept me drawn in. And your acting made this character very believable. I thank you for that.

Despite my praise of Zoe's performance and the great music playing in the background. I'm still missing another half of the show. Once you take out Zoe, and put someone else in. I don't see how I enjoy High Fidelity, especially seeing most of the characters are awful human beings. This point was further proven in a different way, with episode 8.

The comedy aspect was flat and the romance was decent. Lastly, would have been better if it was just a movie, doesn't have enough content to be a tv series. Hence why season 2 got cancelled.

Crush
(2022)

Vanilla
Competition is stiff, when you have things like "To all the boys," and "Kissing Booth." This just felt so base and vanilla, compared to any other Romantic Comedies. Being simply a queer movie isn't enough.

Spree
(2020)

Before Pool Stream Meta
I would just watch Twitch, Youtube, or WSHH. Would be way better. But it does remind me of at least 2 video games. One is called Super Seducer, and another one is about a Female Streamer who needs her mods help.

Was definitely a very creative attempt. I think I would have liked it more, if there was more variety to it.

Babyteeth
(2019)

I'm Not Laughing
I was mislead by a reviewer calling this "heartwarming." Are you freaking kidding me? Did we watch the same movie.

There is a lot of red flags that happen in this movie, and then that ending completely killed it for me.

Sure, there was some amounts of humor. But I wouldn't call this a comedy, it was more of a drama with some satire.

The hurtful thing is, it does really pull you in a little bit. Could have easily been a 6 out of 10 type of movie.

However, if you don't want to have tears, and not of the healing kind, then pass this up.

Hit-Monkey
(2021)

Weak
If you go into this, like it is a American Adult cartoon similar to FamilyGuy/AmericanDad/SouthPark/VentureBros/Boondocks, then this probably will feel like a 11 out of 10.

If you go into this, like it is a Japanese Anime (AfroSamurai, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop) or Marvel Movie (Avengers, Captain America, Ironman). Get ready to be disappointed, and just skip this, no need to leave a rating.

If you are not familiar with any of the above. Give it a try, but be warned. Everything about it, is so basic. It is not doing anything new. At best, it was a 5 out of 10. And you probably could watch something better.

Runaways
(2017)

Cancelled
I don't understand Marvel's obsession with trying to do a hit tv series. When they are best at making hit movies, with branching phases.

This series only made it to 3 seasons, because it is not good enough to be a series. Could have been a perfect movie though.

What is so crazy, this had promise.

The Gray Man
(2022)

Not Awful
This wasn't awful, just another popcorn flick. If we could give half points, I would give it a 5.5 out of 10. It had a couple of good action sequences and witty dialogue. That the actors pull off amazing.

Some people might not like the fast pacing. I think it fit, but could have done more character development, because some people will get bored if action is always at HUNDRED. Or at least chop down the overall film a little.

Other than that, it is Just another Mission Impossible: Xander Cage movie.

Lastly, if you liked "The Gray Man." I recommend to give "The Old Guard," a try.

Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments
(2016)

Movie Was Better
Why couldn't they just do a sequel for the movie? Why give us a tv series, with worst actors and a lower budget. Other than that, you can really only like this if you are a hard core fan of the book series.

Drama Drama
(2019)

Extra Cheese
I really wanted to like this, but it was so cheesy at sometimes, that I had to fast forward. I enjoyed the dancing and singing, but it has a hard time shining against things like Pitch Perfect or Into The Woods.

Madam Ppang-deok
(2014)

Depressing
Yikes, this was extremely depressing. Acting was FANTASTIC, but man. Not a slither of hope in this ending, and constant sadness throughout.

A lot of life lessons can be learned from it. But I rather watch something else.

The Great
(2020)

Roller Coaster Ride
It has a lot of ups and downs, but it is ultimately worth watching once. Don't expect it to be 100% accurate. It is just loosely based on her story, with a black comedy twist.

The Handmaid's Tale
(2017)

5 Seasons, Really?
This was like watching vanilla paint dry on the wall. The story is POTENTIALLY interesting, but the directing and length are just terrible.

Think of it this way-this is every white female's nightmare-that has really never existed for them. It plays on those fears from a privileged class of citizens, and puts them in a "what if" scenario, of them becoming slaves.

Honestly, all I have to do. Is go back to America's history of slavery towards the blacks and other classes (even though, not as worse) they considered less than them. And this makes the series seem silly at best.

If I want a dystopian or slave narrative story, all I have to do is wait for Black History Month. Or google the many of much better movies/series that are based on USA slavery. Those movies hit you in the feels and emotions at a higher rate, than what "The Handmaid's Tale," is trying to do.

Nine Perfect Strangers
(2021)

Surprised Me!
This surprised me. It gives me more Kdrama vibes, than it does American Dramas like All My Children. However, goes on for far too long. It should have been broken into 2 movies (between 2 to 3 hours each), and not a 8 one-hour episode series. Basically needs to be chopped down and have better editing. Just keep the good stuff. If they did that, I could have at least given it a 9 out of 10 stars.

If you don't like dramas at all, avoid this.
