Snapshot:
This Valentine's Day slasher had me in the first half-intriguing premise, promising setup, and a killer rocking some seriously disturbing heart eyes. But just like a bad first date, it quickly took a turn for the worse once the big reveal happened. Instead of delivering a fresh, love-themed massacre, it gave us Scream lite with a motive that made me want to break up with this movie immediately.
What I Liked: The kills were a chef's kiss-gruesome, creative, and delightfully over-the-top. Shoutout to the filmmakers for proving that everyday objects, like a metal straw and a... dildo (yes, really), can be deadly weapons.
The comedy had its moments, especially with the "HWW" (Hysterical White Woman) trope. It brought some chuckles, even if they leaned into cringe territory.
What I Didn't Like: The motive. Oh my God, the motive. If I wanted a watered-down Scream twist, I'd just rewatch Scary Movie.
The build-up focused way too much on the love interest instead of making the Heart Eyes Killer a true Valentine's Day menace. Like, where's my rom-com meets horror chaos?
It teased something unique but ultimately settled for being another forgettable slasher with a bad breakup-worthy ending.
Final Verdict: This flick tried to make me fall head over heels, but instead, I got ghosted by its potential. A few laughs, solid kills, and creative weapons keep it from being a total disaster, but that reveal... whew, it's a dealbreaker. 2.5 out of 5 chocolates... or 5 out of 10 stabs to the heart.

Snapshot:
Flight Risk is a thriller that, despite its struggles to soar, is buoyed by a promising premise. However, it is weighed down by lackluster performances and a paper-thin plot. The execution makes this movie feel like an unnecessary layover rather than a cinematic destination.
What I Liked: The premise of a plane-bound thriller had intriguing moments of tension.
Mark Wahlberg's over-the-top antics added sporadic bursts of energy.
The fugitive character provided awkwardly funny moments that gave brief reprieve.
What I Didn't Like:
The Co-lead, Modlyn (and her acting), lacked the emotional depth needed for a claustrophobic thriller.
The mix of characters felt disjointed, with no real chemistry to pull the story together.
The overall pacing and the glaring lack of compelling character context made the movie feel disappointingly dull.
The resolution to the central mystery wasn't satisfying enough to justify the journey.
The entire film felt better suited for streaming rather than a theatrical release.
Verdict:
Flight Risk feels less like an edge-of-your-seat thriller and more like a turbulent ride on a budget airline-you're just waiting for it to land. With bland performances and minimal payoff.

Snapshot of My Feelings:
One of Them Days feels home. It's a modern comedy in the spirit of classics like Friday similar to Dope -funny, authentic, and unapologetically relatable. While it's not groundbreaking cinema, it thrives in its simplicity, delivering plenty of laughs with a dash of nostalgia for those familiar with Southern California's quirks.
What I Liked: 1. Relatable Characters: The film's strength lies in its ability to reflect real-life experiences. Whether it's the lady running a liquor store out of her apartment or the friend who can't seem to get it together, these characters are not just relatable, they're like people we know.
2. Strong Cast Performances: Keke Palmer shines as the quick-witted lead, nailing both the comedic timing and the facial expressions that make her character feel like someone you'd actually meet in SoCal. Katt Williams also stands out as a homeless man delivering wild yet strangely profound truths, balancing hilarity with unexpected depth.
3. Hidden Gems: One of Them Days is a treasure trove of subtle humor, from background details to side characters' interactions. It's the kind of comedy that keeps on giving, with new jokes waiting to be discovered on a second watch. Black Comedy: The humor in One of Them Days is not just tailored to a Black audience, it's a celebration of our cultural nuances. It's this authenticity that makes films like this so important and so enjoyable.
What I Didn't Like: It's hard to find major faults here because the movie achieves exactly what it sets out to do. However, the plot is a bit loose-more of a day-in-the-life series of events than a tightly structured narrative. But for a comedy, that's not necessarily a dealbreaker.
Final Verdict: One of Them Days is not just a warm and hilarious comedy, it's a love letter to the communities and characters of Southern California. Its authenticity and humor make it a film worth celebrating and a must-watch for fans of relatable, culturally rich comedies.
Rating: 5/5 Don't miss this one if you're a fan of relatable, culturally rich comedies!
