Matchstick Men
(2003)

Cage was great, movie slow
The acting in this film was phenomenal. I enjoyed his supposed daughter's performance as well as Nicholas Cage. He always seems to have an eccentric role in film and this movie is no different. He has OCD and it's funny and sad watching him tic and go through the motions. His partner in the film is fabulous as his dedicated friend. The music is fabulous as it helped with the movies' flow. Unfortunately in many instances the film was extremely slow which had me looking at the clock. I thought the movie would have focused more on the con than it did on Cage's personality disorder. Overall it was a pretty good movie, good acting, and great music. Not a must see though.

A Time for Dancing
(2002)

Slow
I liked the cast of the movie, although I would have preferred that Shane West was in more scenes. I'm not quite sure that they explained properly Sam's relationship her mother. Sam definitely had a chip on her shoulder but they never fully explained why. Additionally, I found the dream sequences to be kind of lame. I also would have preferred they showed or at least expressed how long she had been on chemo before she decided on her own to stop doing therapy. It didn't give the audience a frame of reference and due to her parents reaction almost made you feel as if she didn't want to fight for her life. The acting was great though. A decent movie to watch on cable during a rainy weekend afternoon.

The Goodbye Girl
(2004)

Not a Bad Remake
This was a pretty good remake of a movie that was perfect to begin with. I think Jeff Daniels made his own fabulous spin on the character of Elliot yet was able to still capture some of the original scenes with "Dreyfuss-Daniels" flair. Patricia Heaton also did a grand job. I wasn't as thrilled with the performance of Lucy but then again not everything could be perfect. She did a great job of embodying the character yet overall I'm not sure I took a great liking altogether to the actress. Kudos to Hootie for redoing the song by "Bread", as always an awesome classic. Overall if you enjoyed the original this was film was a nice breath of fresh air. As usual though on a late afternoon I'll always opt for some Dreyfuss meditation anyday.

All the Real Girls
(2003)

I dont understand
How are the user ratings on this film so high?? Maybe I just didn't "get" this movie. I saw it because Zooey was in it and I've loved her in other films. Usually these indie flicks are either really good or terrible. Unfortunately this movie is definitely the latter. I waited and waited for something to happen. The only thing this movie had going for it were a few witty quotes here and there. Eventually I had to turn it off because I couldn't stand watching it anymore. There wasn't any substance. If you found any please let me know at what point in the movie you found it so I can turn it on from there.

The Big Lebowski
(1998)

Great Movie
This movie is funny sober and hysterical otherwise! John Goodman is FABULOUS as well as the rest of the cast. There are a couple of scenes that you'll even find yourself repeating similar to OfficeSpace. This flick is a definite must see with your buddies on a wasted evening.

Mrs. Winterbourne
(1996)

Totally Underrated
This was a great film. Just because Ricki Lake stars in this movie doesn't automatically make it bad. It's a sweet story about a girl who had a rough life and accidentally finds herself with a ton of possibilities just unfortunately, as someone else. Ricki Lakes character has a lot of integrity and is truly a good mom along with all the chaos. Brendan Fraser is very lovable and Shirley Mclain was fabulous as only she could be. This is a definite rental if you haven't seen it and are looking for a sweet romantic comedy. You won't be disappointed.

The Goodbye Girl
(1977)

One of my faves
This is one of those movies that always makes me cry at the end. Richard Dreyfuss is hysterical giving one of the best performances. You can't help but love him. I think all independent women can relate to this movie not wanting to depend on a man but just wanting someone to be with and care for. I guess eventually she finally found him.

Freddy vs. Jason
(2003)

Surprisingly good!
Like most of you I felt a responsibility to see this movie since we waited "SO" long for it to come out. It was actually VERY GOOD! I'll be honest...I was very surprised. I loved it! Definite must see. :)

How to Deal
(2003)

Great film
Mandy Moore has yet to disappoint me. I've been pretty impressed with her acting and her choice in roles. This film had a very poignant plot displaying a very realistic view of love from many different stages. Allison Janey was fabulous as the mother both funny and serious. This was a very different "teenage" flick since there didn't seem to be any mushy bubblegum scenes. This is a phenomenal film that I feel all women from every stage of their lives should see. In addition, if men would like some kind of an understanding about women and how "we deal" then they may want to give this movie a shot too. Enjoy!

My Big Fat Greek Wedding
(2002)

Very endearing!
This movie was great! Not the usual guy meets girl, they fall in love, have a fight for the rest of the film, and get back together later. Throughout this film things stay as they are because in adversity the characters know what they want. This film gains your trust and keeps it. The script is VERY funny and sweet. A definite 'feel-good' movie for everyone. I for one, was quite impressed.

The Bourne Identity
(2002)

Definite must see..
The action sequences were great, the story (based on the novel) obviously was fabulous, and the acting tied in perfectly with everything. For those that enjoy romance the chemistry is also totally apparent between the two main leads. Action and subtle romance come together perfectly. This film keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. It's a perfect example of what one means when categorizing a "suspense" film. Definitely a GREAT date movie. In a word, brilliant!
