The Titan
(2018)

Absolutely preposterous, absurd and pointless.
Please do not waste time on this ridiculous rubbish of a movie. It looks like something a 13 yr old dreamed up but no one stopped to say ok wait, neat idea but, it needs a LOT of work to make actual logical sense in reality. This just doesn't work. Dialog and script was incredibly lacking. The whole premise was just completely absurd, improbable and preposterous. Everything was just pointless and idiotic and not based at all in reality or logical.

Everything happened in a vacuum, too fast, no build up of suspense or character development. No understanding of the rest of the world or how anyone else in the program was doing or feeling. Nothing made any logical sense. It should have taken years. Or honestly many generations. But why even? Just end humanity and let it go. What would be the point in becoming some reptilian species on another planet to save humanity? You are no longer even the same species. So dumb.

The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die
(2023)

Honestly don't bother...
If you really want to remember TLK Just don't with this movie. It is always a treat to see our dear Uhtred, Finan and Sithric and the actors are always incredible in their roles with TLK and the movie for what they were given. But that is where it all ends. The plot, the script/lines. It all just flops and writhes on the floor in despair and disappointment. I wish they hadn't bothered. But in time I'll forget this whole movie even ever happened and stick to remembering the actual good show that was TLK. Not this flop of a movie. It was unnecessary and didn't do any justice to the show.

If you are a true TLK fan as my husband and I are, you'll be very disappointed in this. Besides just getting to see your favorite guys again. Otherwise just remember The Last Kingdom as it was and don't waste your effort on this pitiful heap.

And the very end is super annoying. I hate when shows or movies take you out of the element of being entrenched in a world and they pop you out into current time or place. Save that crap for behind the scenes footage or a documentary or something. We are here for the fantasy not current day England. It's fiction. Even if historical fiction. Leave us to our imagination.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
(2023)

Teens liked it...
So my teens 13 and 17 both play dnd on several campaigns. They both said they enjoyed the movie. But i can't say they LOVED it. But they said it felt like what they expected out of a dnd campaign to play out.

Personally I didn't mind it but didn't love it. I don't play dnd so I wasn't watching it with that in mind myself. As a stand alone movie it's ok and it was a good family flick although could really use less cursing I think if they want to reach a broader audience. I'm not personally put off by cursing at all, I curse myself a lot and my kids hear me. But I feel movies geared at a younger audience don't need it. Or at least tone it down a notch. I just don't see the need of it in the movie as it was used.

Effects seemed ok but at least in our theater the film felt fuzzy or blurry to me especially in the wide shots and moving scenes. I kept checking my glasses like did they fall off my face? I'm not sure if that was the theater or the film itself.

Good effects but lacking in depth and build up
The effects, props, CGI etc are all well done and on point. The idea is there and it's a novel scifi idea. But the story and script is so lacking. Feels more like something ChatGPT created for a script. Nothing memorable here with any witty remarks or strong like or dislike to anyone, no one to truly root for or care about. No depth to any one in the story. It's just a gloss over, quick story with a slow-mo action sequence essentially. Could have been better. Still worth watching to kill time but it won't be super memorable or leave you with much of a lasting impression. Not bad but not great either.

The Old Guard
(2020)

Decent entertainment.
It was a decently entertaining movie. Not something to blow you away but it was better than a lot of stuff these days. It fell a little flat a bit and could have used a little more depth to the characters to make you really want to love or hate them but you really don't get enough development for that. It's more like hey here are your good guys and here's the bad guys. All in all it was worth the watch. Not super memorable but not disappointing either. If they make a second film to it they need to put more work into building a background and give more depth to connect to the characters or plot.

Appaloosa
(2008)

Pretty, but lacking substance and depth
This was ok as a basic western film but nothing new here under the sun. Ed Harris and Viggo are an interesting pair but there really was not enough depth or interest to the story or characters. Not much background or anything to anyone. They just plop in to the scene and you're expected to figure it out. It just felt like a wasted effort for all the glamour of good actors and film set it just fell flat for me. Rene Zellweger just did not fit in here at all but I don't really care for her acting at all or her voice similar as I feel about Drew Barrymore unless they are in goofy comedies. An unknown actress would have fit better honestly. But everything just moved too fast and just jumped around and lacked substance. I think had Ed just acted and not also directed it would have had more substance and depth added to it and him not spread so thin probably doing so many tasks in the film.

Bridgerton
(2020)

Drivel and unwatchable....
I love regency, costume, British dramas. But this was absolutely absurd beyond belief. It's basically regency for Twilight fans. Not that I have even watched that either but I can get the gist and similarities. I couldn't even force myself past 2 episodes of this drivel. Bore fest and absurd and unnecessary. But the tiktok generation is eating it up apparently. To hell with history and good writing or scripts. Just write smut and stick a regency dress on it and call it a day. Add a black queen and now you're woke so even more bonus points. Yeah!

It's definitely not for me and really a disservice to the era and the genre.

Britannia
(2017)

Where to even begin? Let's just say this show is frustrating.
This had so much potential and good bones of an interesting historical fiction, fantasy drama. But oh boy did it ever go south and fast. Season 3 was absolutely a travesty and a bore. It had great bones from the start but they wasted so much talent and turned the show upside down and made no sense by the end. Hemple is absolutely unbearable and unbelievable and such a bore to watch. It was like nails on a chalkboard with her. And poor Cait was given the worst script and plot line when she should have been the star of the show but you honestly barely get to understand or know her or see her truly. So much wasted scenes and time on nonsense and jokes with Phelan. He was the comic relief I guess but really should have been killed off long ago. He was pointless.

All the men are basically turned into weakling jokesters by the end. The women are propped up as the saviors of the day at every turn but then given no substance at all. Hella seemed like she'd be interesting but nope they bombed her character. Aulus was this strong mighty Roman General and then a "whipped" dude at the end who couldn't stand up to Hemple. Now she's the star? She was ridiculous.

Let us not even forget the HORRID music!!!! The intro/outtro music and all the stuff in the show. It was like watching a 1970s acid trip basically with the music they paired with it all. It ruined whatever mediocrity it had to spare and sent it down the looking glass with Alice and the White Rabbit. Surprised they didn't actually use that song by Jefferson Airplane LOL. That's essentially what all the music sounded like. It honestly may have even been an improvement on the music! I always had to mute it or FF past the musical parts it was so bad and so ill fitting. You want the music to transform you to a place in time and set the tone/mood etc. This had to be the worst show ever to use such out of place music throughout.

I guess I'm just frustrated. This show basically takes you on an endless loop of nonsense you'll never get answers to basically the show LOST in 70AD on Acid. We don't even know if there will be a 4th season and yet they write a show with no ending and endless loops and loose ends. So a waste of time with possibly no conclusion. Or a very disturbing one if that's what we're left with at end of season 3.

See
(2019)

Have we SEEN this before?
Basically it is a replay of The Stand, The Postman, Waterworld etc but with blind people. It's a bit preposterous and you have to suspend a lot of disbelief. The Queen is sooooooo outrageous and annoying beyond belief. Why no one killed her immediately once she became queen is beyond me.

But it still had decent acting and good scenery. Just wish the plot and the story was a bit deeper and more interesting and maybe a bit more realistic and believable overall. I don't quite understand why the entire world in all these apocalyptic movies all go Mad Max crazy and someone always thirsting for power and total domination . Man just go live in the woods and enjoy life and die in peace and leave everyone alone. But i guess that doesn't make as interesting a story LOL.

Watched the finale season just to figure out how it went. And yeah just boring and waste of time. No dynamic or intriguing characters to root for. Everyone is just uninteresting or unbelievable. And Queen Sibeth horrid and annoying as ever. So 3 seasons watching this horrid person annoy me on screen. And no good redeeming characters to watch. No character development. Just an unbelievable story that is pretty preposterous. Good visual effects and all but poorly acted and bad script. And why on earth would blind people have such ornate and properly made clothes and earrings and decorative headpieces etc?

Outlander
(2014)

Dropping a few stars due to abysmal season 6
Man what happened to the show?! Season 6 is abysmal and so outlandish and outrageous. About like season 3 in Jamaica was utterly ridiculous and stupid. Season 6 is even worse. I really hated it so much. But I LOVE Outlander especially the first 2 seasons and season 4-5 made a come back. But dang season 6 is making me want to scream! Please please fix season 7! I pray it isn't the same train wreck of season 6. Please get us back to the enjoyable workings of their relationship and fun adventures not this insane outlandish drivel that makes your head spin on end. Gah! And stop making the sex scenes sound like cheesy bdsm romance novel crap. Keep it pure, simple and loving. The scenes are great but they keep shoving new age bondage type language in there and it's just dumb and not realistic at all. Getting further away from a woman from 1940s and a Scottish man from 1700s. Be real and be simple. Let their chemistry do the work! Catroina even for her weird yelping voice she does when she's mad she has amazing Chemistry with Sam and he is just divine and perfect in all ways. But Claire could use some softening. Still stop with the weird stuff. Keep things natural and simple. And for the love of all stop making Claire do such outlandish and ridiculous stuff to get them all in trouble every season!

Outlander: I Am Not Alone
(2022)
Episode 8, Season 6

Gahhh What happened to this show?!
Ugh this season sucks. It is so outrageous and outlandish no puns intended. Everything is just to up the ante of the previous episode. Nowhere are the charming people and town they started with. Just these nasty fisherfolks who should have been ousted the moment trouble started. Everything in this season is just so off the wall and not interesting or endearing. Pretty much like season 4 in Jamaica. That was a terrible season as well. Get back to the lovely relationships and storytelling. Not this outlandish drivel. Ruining something that could have been so good. It breaks my heart. I LOVED the first 2 seasons and season 5 was decent. But 4 and 6 need to be erased from memory. I pray 7 is better but I won't count on it. :/

Virgin River
(2019)

Could have been SO much better...
Had good intentions and good backdrop but it feels like a script written by teenagers of what they think adult life is like. Dialogue is so boring and lackluster and pointless and probably exactly what they think we say and do. Kind of like the peanuts character teachers wah wah wah wah.

Everything that happens is just so illogical and unrealistic and outlandish. Like they just have to up the ante each episode. How many things can possibly happen in this tiny town?! Nothing is really ever resolved just keeps a revolving door of chaos and calamity, nothing truly good really consistently happens yet everyone is so bubbly and happy except there is so much trauma everyone is suffering. I'm on season 4 ep 6 and it just keeps going and everything is so pointless. No one has any true chemistry or charisma, they just float around in the clouds even after so many near death experiences.

Each episode has to cross through every single character on scene rather than let them develop on just a single character or two. So it makes everything so shallow. Not enough time to really develop each scene or character.

Stranger Things
(2016)

Season 4....watcher beware
Season 1 and 2 were nice throwbacks to the 80s and a fun scifi flick. Now it's filled with obscenity and cursing and gore. Not sure if we will even finish this. It's gotten very disturbing and not a fun family show even with my teens. And of course everything has to throw in the "wokeness" nonsense of today and shovel it down your throat. Lots of sex and relationship stuff that just doesn't need to be so overt for young kids. Just focus on the adventures slim down the obscenities/cursing. Once or so is one thing but not over and over with intense words. And this from a mom who curses but it doesn't need to come out of every kids mouth in the show constantly. The gore is feeling like they are competing with GOT. Except that was geared to adults but this is meant for a younger audience and it's over the top.

Raised by Wolves
(2020)

Crazy Ragnar part deux
Remember when the amazing Ragnar went psycho and you're like what is this crap from Travis?! Well it's just the same. He has all the weird psycho Ragnar mannerisms and weird eyes. Is this the forever Travis Fimmell now?! Please, I hope not. He was so good in the beginning of Vikings and then I hated the rest of the seasons when he came back all crazy. It is the same here with this show but from the onset. Almost unwatchable. Besides the rest of the show is also just so ill conceived and poorly thought out, I can see so many plot holes already. Boring and just goes no where. I'm not sure I want to even bother with season 2. Currently only 2 episodes out of it. I'll wait till they all drop and decide if I want to waste any more time on this. So far i feel majorly let down and bored and waste of time. Kinda like Lost was. At least that had more character development and intrigue all the while just ended on a bad note. This is just flat out boring already.

The Handmaid's Tale
(2017)

Season 3- a season about what did NOT happen in Gilead
Season 3 is mostly much ado about nothing. SO much wasted time and scenery. This was the most slow and boring thing ever! The writers and producers of this season should be on the wall! LOL. Seriously bad bad bad.

So much happened in each episode on the first two seasons and then it's like molasses literally nothing happens of much value in the whole season. Lots of "pretty" and long winded scenes for nothing. Things happen that do nothing for the show as a whole. Just filler and wasted time. We could have dug into the lives and goings on of so many characters! It was all wasted this season. Let us watch Moira and Luke and baby HOLLY (why are they even calling her Nichole?!), why is there any question about her mother and father when it is clearly Nick and June! Where is Nick show us his story. We didn't get much of anything about Emily and what we saw was really odd and awkward. Show us some flash backs of Joseph and Eleanor. What are other Marthas and Handmaids struggling with. What about the rest of the US or Canada? We see no real glimpse of what it is like there and what about this so called fertility crisis? It must be worldwide if it is so bad.

The US is huge how can they possibly control all of it and people not be out living in the woods in areas not controlled? Where are all the foods raised and grown?

I hate when shows expect us to think everything happens in a bubble or a vacuum. You can only suspend belief for so long. How would Canada even give any credence to the Waterford's claim over Nichole when Luke and Moira know the truth of her biology.

Stop playing us for simpletons and fools. This show is so shallow and ridiculous now and pointless. They lost the plot!

Death and Nightingales
(2018)

Missed the mark
This could have been more pivotal and enticing but it missed the mark. It just became slow and brooding and then just strange and left you with an empty taste. Nothing fulfilling.

Mediocre script, poor direction. It could have been much better.

Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham
(2021)

Way too scripted and rushed.
This could have been so much better but it is way too rehearsed and scripted and too rushed. Too much focus on scripted and fake chit chat in the van and images of them driving down the road instead of on the actual activity they want to show us. And too much goofing off instead of being serious and showing us what they want us to learn and see.

North & South
(2004)

Absolutely TIMELESS and CLASSIC!
I can watch this a thousand times and never tire of it. It is just such a timeless and classic series. The acting is just spot on for all of the characters, everyone really just got into their role so well. The moments of the slow bits of cotton puffs flying around like snow is just so cinematic and ethereal and then boom you snap back into the gritty world. In those days marriages were mostly about convenience of the families to find a suitable match they think provides for their family and inheritance and arranged and not about purely love or romance. So it's intriguing to see a romance play out in these times, especially with all that they endured. I'm sure this was not common and to see these two put aside their biases, indifference and mistaken identity/assumptions and realize they both were lovable, honest and hardworking people who needed each other was a beautiful and rare site. They were more alike than different but couldn't see that because of the obstacles between them. But besides the romance it was really well done to portray life in these times in this part of the world. It's sad honestly but gives such a true picture of the times and hardships the people suffered. You almost wonder how anyone made it out of there at all. I would rather have lived in a shack in the woods foraging mushrooms and eating rabbits than to live that way. It's sad.

But great series and I'll watch it again and again until the day I die.

Catherine the Great
(2019)

Gah what a waste!
Utter drivel! Such a waste of good costuming and set design and locations. The script is like a boring soap opera. This is not intriguing at all, so dull and childish most of it. It seriously seems like it was written by horny 14 year olds. Nothing much of any intelligence or intrigue at all. I had to stop at episode 3. I couldn't take it anymore.

The Favourite
(2018)

Another half hearted movie with promise.
This movie had some promise. It was different and intriguing and could have been something but turned into much ado about nothing really. It ended with a complete FLOP. I hate endings like this where you just feel like you wasted all your time. About like watching LOST. Such a waste of energy and effort following all these parts that all mean nothing really.

The Nightingale
(2018)

A lot of promise here ...
This movie had a lot of promise that ended with a THUD. Seems like this needed more oversight before being sent out. It missed the wow factor. Too many holes left.

Radioflash
(2019)

More like a kids version
This was just so lacking and boring and so many holes. Nothing imaginative or exciting at all. I FF through most of it. It's seriously like a disney or kids version of an apocalyptic film. I guess if I went into it with that in mind it would have lived up to its expectations. Otherwise it's a pass and a bit of a waste of a decent cast.

The Mandalorian: Chapter 6: The Prisoner
(2019)
Episode 6, Season 1

Suicide squad + spaceballs = lame episode
This episode is ridiculous. It is literally a play on suicide squad and then had a character that was obviously a play off of spaceballs.

When you have a limited series like this with only a handful of episodes you want them to all be high quality and purposeful. To really dig deep with the characters and plot development. If you have 20 episodes and just need to spit out episodes like full house then I expect crap like this. Otherwise this was really wasted time and money on this episode

Vikings
(2013)

A good show that has since jumped the shark...
So this show was fantastic out of the gates! Lagertha, Ragnar, the Seer, Athelstan, Floki so many dynamic characters come in and out and have a great role in the show. However now it has all just gone to pot and jumped the shark. I truly loved the show in the first 3 seasons. This last season honestly I wish I'd never even bothered. Just wish I'd ended when Ragnar left.

#Spoilers below ...for those who have not seen season 5.5 stop now.

**************

So now. The show has just lost all sense of its origins and purpose. I was really hoping to see Bjorn become a mighty warrior like his father and take up the mantel of Ragnar even if displaced by Ivar. Now he's just a pouty baby and screwing anyone in sight and dropped the mighty warrioress Torvi?! Wtf?! . And they shaved his freaking head and Alfred's hair cut WTAF?? They both look completely STUPID now. It's hard to take it seriously now at all. If anyone cut their hair it should have been UBBE! To shed his viking hair since it has religious and cultural significance but he is supposed to be Christian now so it would make sense for him. So why would mighty warrior Bjorn shave his instead?!

There are NO interesting or dynamic characters or situations whatsoever this season. They are all washed up and annoying. Ivar is just a crybaby lunatic. He has no reason for his "madness" and just looks like he is having a temper tantrum. And makes no sense why anyone would follow him and not just kill him in his sleep abd be done with his stupidity. Let's not even talk about the miserable failure of Floki and his flock. Good gracious is that a bore!

Just put this show out of its misery or bring in tge writers and directors of season 1-3 or fire them if it's the same folks because they surely have lost their way!

Last but not least why do these shows murder history for the sake of TV?! It's ok to take some license but geez to straight up stab holes in it all for literally NO reason is absurd. Keep stuff historically accurate whenever possible. If you adlib that is fine or use it as a jumping point. Or make up a new character to fit in the timeline. Don't wake up long dead ghosts to play a role in a timeline they don't exist in. It makes no sense at all.
