Ai no Kusabi: Remake
(2012)

No plot whatsoever
This was the stupidest anime ever. No plot, just random sex acts for no reason and only 4 episodes. The conclusion was meaningless and did not answer any unresolved questions. Guess the creators got sick of it as much as I did.

The Ending was disappointing
The best thing for me was it was dubbed in English. But the male characters were sub-par and bland and the main character the heroine had such little personality that the creators didn't even give her a name. I read online that this was a reverse harem theme but it couldn't even pull off that well. The heroine just had a different dysfunctional boyfriend in each alternative world. I mean who puts the girl they love in a cage to "protect" her. Another admits he purposely likes to be mean to her and the brainiac math character can't even muster human emotions. (so why would she really date him?) Each relationship seems so far-fetched and ridiculous, no girl in her right mind would want a harem of guys like them.

You get no real conclusion until the last episode and even that flimsy explanation of events with her "real boyfriend) was so weird and confusing that I was left scratching my head going huh? I mean why would your boyfriend kill you over and over in alternative worlds just to live himself. He was the one who made the wish to reincarnate her. It really was the stupidest ending ever. Plus the green-haired boyfriend really did not add much to the story up until the ending. Over all it is a bad attempt of making an anime from a game.

Really cute, characters are adorable
This was very enjoyable to watch. Although the two "in love" Takeo and Yamato were cute, I really wanted more from Suna (the gorgeous best freind). Suna said the funniest comments and I wanted to see more of him. In fact, I thought it would have been hilarious if he was also in love with Takeo. But no luck. If you want to see a sweet (first love) story with all the awkwardness that comes with it, then this anime is for you.

By far my favorite BL story yet
This was so funny and cute! I wasn't to into it the first 5 or so minutes so turned it off thinking it would be super boring and focused on the acting stuff or drawn out about the rivalry. But it got so much better and I was hooked after the first "meet up". I binged it in one sitting! It was that good. I don't want to add any spoilers but just want to say that it had a better storyline than the usual boy love stories. This wasn't "the much older man", "young naive kid vibe that every other BL story covers.

It was actually so refreshing to see something new. I like that it also didn't have the BL formula of the "young kid" always protesting being kissed and then gives in thing- But says he hates it. Seeing two grown men starting a relationship was awesome. Also seeing the older one perused was hilarious.

Convoluted and stupid
The last few episodes really did not make a lot of sense. They added to worst way to end it.

Cute and realistic
Not your normal (boy love) story. These two are equals in their own rights. There is an age difference but honestly the junior is more mature than the older love interest. He is open with his feelings for the older man, while the older one is denying his true self. He is not in the closet per say yet he is too held back to ever live the life he wants.

I am a straight female so don't understand (hating) yourself for having feelings for the same sex. But I know this is all too real. I really liked how this anime addressed how conflicting it is to have feelings for someone our society might not approve of. This story is sweet and tender and even throws in some humor when these two finally get together. The sex scene made me laugh with how realistic and awkward it is the first time you are with anyone. Sorry if there are too many spoilers in this review but wanted to share my thoughts on it.

This made me laugh so hard
All I can say is watch it for a good laugh at the main character's expense. I think every highschool guy would love his girl problems. But he handles it like a champ. He isn't always the perfect gentleman he wants to be which makes even more hilarious. He says he wants a simple love connection but gets four of the funniest perverts instead. With a bonus one at the end.

By far the cutest love story
I wasn't sure what to expect and after searching under the Funimation romance tab, I came upon this one. It met and exceeded all my expectations of a cute highschool love story. This is unlike most anime love stories that are slow to move the love interests and rely on the finale to come to a climax. In fact some (romance anime) generally leave me frrustrated due to how slow they go.

But this one was great from the first episode. I was interested in the premise it built in this first episode and it continued to amaze to the very end. Every episode built upon the budding friendship (s) and Every character was well fleshed out. I liked how it never glossed over how the main (male character) still had that loney boy inside him but that through these new friendships he could move towards happiness. I found it refreshing that the main female had a strong personality and could come across as a little bit of a bully . But she was still adorable and sweet and everyone liked her. Strong women are never featured in any of the animes I have seen so far. So I loved that I could relate to her!

In the end, they were both the Yin to each other's Yang.

Premise interesting, ending of seaon sucks
So far there is only one season and they leave it at tyr last few minutes with a slight plot twist review trying to build a cliffhanger opening for a second season. In reality, it took 12 episodes to buildup to a nothing reveal. All the flashbbacks on his childhood reveal little to nothing. I was left hollow and disappointed since I binge-watched it in one sitting. Plus it was entirely too slow and the 12 episodes could have been squeezed into 6 leaving the other six to actually build a real plot and finish the series on a high note.

But my biggest pet peeve was that all the characters were supposed tonbevfirst years and some of the men looked the appropriate age yet a few looked loke they were in there lates 20s and the bald creepy vein bulging one in class A looked in his 30's. They even had a black bodyguard who clearly isn't Japanese by heavy for his class C (25 yr old "master") who looked right out of a nightclub bouncer vibe and was drawn by 30 too. Be consistent with the ages if they are supposed to be in high school and about 15. As it is every anime drawing of a 15 year looks like she has the bosom of a college girl but a face and height of a little girl. That just makes it easier for anime creaters to add the sexual and usually creepy undertones to the show.
