Different flavour of Terminator Reportedly, Linda Hamilton stated that this story 'had no soul' that the other two possessed. After seeing this movie, I get the feeling that it was intentionally darker than the previous two but also more machine-like in execution as well.
This film felt cold and heartless. The acting was straigthforward and the dialogue pretty much flowed but it felt like it was indeed missing Cameron's touch. What upset me most was that Arnold's acting was too human and less android-like. Why? It seemed they sent a terminator with more prior interaction than ever before. Why is he so aware and expressive in times of stress? Doesn't make sense to me.
All in all, the movie had dazzling effects and kept my attention throughout as an action movie should. The ending was a little unsettling but sensible enough. Honestly, if the next installment isn't the last then I'll be joined by many as seeing this great series exploited by the petty, greedy few trying to make a quick buck by ruining a decent premise! If you're interested, go to you local comic shop and see if you can secure a copy of 'Terminator : Burning Earth' series (from the defunct Now comics label) painted fully by the masterful Alex Ross. A definite must see, it should give you a possible clue as to what might happen next.
