Manodrome
(2023)

What the heck was that?
It has the feel of Fight Club but by far has lost itself in a film that you wait for a punch but it never comes. There was no surprise at the ending, the acting could be a ten but the storyline spares none of the performances , I'm a huge fan of both Jesse Eisenberg and Adrian Brody that brought about the most disappointing of all. I even wish I could say the film had any kind of potential but no go. Brody's performance as god was a stick man with a soft guy with nothing else overcomes the soft guy personality. If you watch this prepare yourself for a let down and maybe spare yourself the disappointment and watch something more promising!

The Devil on Trial
(2023)

This will make a believer of you!
A lot of the reenactment was the worst part of this documentary. Putting that aside the real footage hooked me more than ever on the work of both Lorraine and Ed Warren. You can tell from the footage that the movie that was based on the first of the many Conjuring releases came from this movie and backs up the truth of the original movie. It also made me fully believe in the works of the Warrens. Demons are in fact a real phenomenon, it cannot be denied. Regarding the murder trial would be an extremely difficult case to defend based on demonic possession. The family must have gone through hell with the horrible media frenzy covering the trial and their claims of child demonic possession but if you watch the footage covering the young child that survived the possession for me I would have considered the belief in demonic possession to be real. The public considered them to be a bunch of crazies.

Greatest Days
(2023)

Epic failure
I'm a huge musical lover and it would take a lot for me to ever rate a musical this slow. This was so badly shot that the dance performances were blocked by everything and I think the dancing and choreography were really good but I couldn't tell for sure. The one thing I love about a musical is watching the choreography and every time they performed I was saddened by looking at close ups of people's body parts. The close ups of everything in This movie made it hard to watch. What a disappointment! Don't get your hopes up for this movie, you'll be way disappointed. The two sides of the past and present was not cohesive enough you could eliminate half the movie.

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey
(2023)

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!
Everything stupid you've ever seen in horror is magnified 200%. Right when they are in the middle of a horrific scene instead of running the all decide to chat like they are in the middle of a tea party and it happens more than a couple of times. Lots of blood and gore and everything gross but it was like a really bad Texas Chain Saw Massacre. I was really looking forward to watching this ; I thought with such a great title this had lots of potential but there were just too many "oh my God this is stupid" scenes I had to make sure to write about the rediculousness appearing too many times. Trust me you'll want to pass on this one!

A Million Little Things
(2018)

Really Awesome Series That Delves Into Many Different Types of Mental Health!
Season 1&2 I would totally rate unequivocally with a 10. The start of season three started with a gigantic gaping hole that just begins to open up until season 3 episode 3 regarding the hit and run. Immediately what comes to mind is there is no mention of an investigation on a crime of that level leaving out just too much of the story line that would have been the glue to hold that storyline together; episode 3 again in season 3 was too late to recover what what was lost in the first two seasons and the beginning of season 3 episodes 1 & 2. Half ass writing to think you can fool an audience that has invested two outstanding seasons.

2ndly this whole grieving mother thing is nothing but an epic fail and for a character I was just beginning to like after two and a half seasons I just started to hate. I could not buy into a grieving mother that turned out to be a full blown borderline narcissistic personality. It was just too hard to believe her grieving process when she instantly refused a second shot. Playing it off to her friends made me want to throw up in my mouth it was just so ridiculous. I think this show could have ran further but it was no longer bullet proof after the beginning of season three and I couldn't relate to any story line after such a stupid mess of blundering writings and ramblings after such a fantastically perfect season 1 & 2.

Home Before Dark
(2020)

Surprizingly Amazing True Story
The cast, I have never seen such a unique and creative ensemble of characters on television. Unstoppable and bingeworthy this story centers around a child prodigy with a knack for journalism. The series is based on the life of a true life small town journalist who investigates in series one a possible murder/missing person's case and season two the poisoning of a town virtually owned by a giant company that owns the town with it's billions of dollars of investments in both small and medium sized businesses. Once you begin this journey and the characters become so uniquely intertwined you really will not want to stop watching. This sounds like childs play but the storylines (season 1 & 2) are very serieous issues delivered impeccably by this warm and inviting family. Reminincent of a modern day Little House on the Prarie that was in it's time, a show that historically went down as an iconic family tv show. Beautiful cinematography and potentionally award winning drama particularly in casting, this is 100% worth the watch for families and adults the like. Give this one a chance folks, once you get through season 1 season 2 becomes even surprisingling better than the first.

Nurses
(2020)

Awesome Hospital Show
With a slight overtone of Grey's Anatomy this show presents an amazing character driven, unique presentation of Nurses. The character cast is utterly amazing all with different approaches to medicine and style of patient treatment. The writing is truly an area that's worthy of award winning accolades. Some of these characters are irresistibly lovable. This show has the protentional for more season's ahead. It is worth the watch and an interesting insight in the power of nurses vs doctors.

Good Girls: Find Your Beach
(2020)
Episode 1, Season 3

Excellent Opener
What an episode! There is one scene in particular that made me laugh so hard that I have to say it has been years since I laughed that much. And its was all over a big pill.

A Discovery of Witches
(2018)

Outstanding Storyline-Boring Period Piece
Season one completely and totally enjoyed 100%. The present day story line was a much easier watch for me then season two. The switch from modern day in season one and the jump to season period piece meant a complete change for the entire season that came with many levels of twists but the appeal of a present day Witch/Vampire story line was much more engaging. I really struggled through the period piece although the story line as such was too engaging to continue you watching however finally at the flip of a return to home for the two left us with a cliff hanger that for me I needed after season 4. I felt like get me out of here for the entire season. Matthew Goode's performance was incredibly amazing with the hidden blood rage coming to light and present us with a whole new side of his character that was quite terrifying. He does cray cray extremely well. Theresa's performance revolving around her gathering control over her powers and bring but an even more complex character with incredible powers beyond imagination. There are a few flaws in the is character though regarding her powers and the lack of use of them only being in incredibly dangerous situations, it would have been a little more cohesive if we saw her using her powers in more subtle ways, for me it would have made her character a little more cohesive and believable. So I still gave it a ten because of the incredible first season opening but for season two I would substantially lower my rating had it not been for the incredible writing and engaging story line. Season two episode 10, be prepared for a lead balloon drop of an ending that is a cliff hanger done in bad taste. I am looking forward to season three's jump to present day and with both season 1 and 2 leading up to a very thrilling season three with an even more interesting story line and finally bring all characters back together from season one. Another criticism for season two was the length of time it took for us to come back to present day events, with too much emphasis in the jump to the past it was almost as if the first season story line was becoming unhinged from season one story line which again left two much of a gap that almost tore the story line apart. Now that the setting for season three is the jump back to present day I suggest the sometimes endless suffering to watch is worth it for what's to come in season three. Thank god that's over and I can now come back to the original present day story line rather that the overdone period pieces of both witches and vampires. There are countless stories of vampires and witches from history, the refreshing new present day was much more interesting than the presentation of an already overdone topic in movie making taking place in periods from the past.

Palmer
(2021)

Amazing Performance and a Touching Story
Out of the gate I was not hopeful, by half way through I was balling like a 12 year old girl. Honestly I have always loved Justin's acting and he's so good at it but devotes more time to his music. This moving piece is totally worthy of a best actor award. A truly unique man recently dismissed from prison however at rock bottom, jobless, living with his aunt and a young transvestite male with a special personality and an astounding performance for this character that you just can't help yourself to love. Frequently abandoned by is crackhead mom and left stranded with his grandmother most of the time by synchronicity forms an unexpected, loving bond that is extremely fragile due to surrounding circumstances between Palmer and Sam played by Ryder Allen. This honestly is one movie that you'll want to take in. This incredible cast and their energies mix so well for an award winning movie. Hey Justin maybe this will be another one on the mantle. Well deserved without any reserve. So watch this and grab some kleenex.

Roswell, New Mexico
(2019)

Well written with a very unique cast of characters that brings this show to it's full potential!!
I did not watch the original Roswell and in a way I'm glad that I hadn't seeing that a lot of reviews used it as a comparison instead of seeing it with eyes that were fresh and open. I found this series to be so well done and a character driven cast that made this show so incredibly cohesive. I loved every single charterer and found that this cast had a very unique bond that made me think of the show Friends and the special bond that was brought to us by that cast just in the drama category. . There is incredible diversity that was written with true class. This show seriously took me away to a place somewhat like a well written book. So much imagination was for sure something that the writers and this cast could only do. The soundtrack is amazing, especially the last song in season 2 finale that brought tears to my eyes to watch. No words needed to be spoken during that scene we knew exactly what each characters perspective was without any dialogue, well mostly just short closing dialogue from each cast member. I gave this series a 10 because I was so fully engrossed and did in fact feel taken away to a very different place that had so many lovable characters. You don't necessarily have to be an alien freak to want to watch this series only be in love with drama and strong character driven TV. This show really deserves for sure at least an nomination in the writing category. This also could not be pulled off without a gifted directer with such a strong vision and belief in this story line and who had such a great cast to work with. Bravo to all of you and thank you for taking us away during a time across the planet that we all need to just breathe for a moment to allow ourselves to be taken away from the very stressful times in which we are living. Thank you for your hard work and for being such incredible storytelling artists!!!

Defending Jacob
(2020)

Bringing Intense Drama To A New Level
It's seems as though every character in this drama series were built for their parts. The cast is utterly amazing, Michelle Dockery whom I've always considered to be a very diverse actress brings the absolute rawness of a mother who is struggling with a 15 year old adolescent who is facing murder charges that is being tried as an adult. Chris Evans, who knew he was capable of actually playing a gritty homo sapient? He has captured the essence of a father with that intense bond between father and son along with a heightened over-protectiveness that from the get go I despised. That being said his performance is definitively one worthy of an award winning performance 2nd to Michelle Dockery. The storytelling is so finely crafted that one cannot help but be drawn into this intense thriller that well delivers and is much overdue regarding quality in a drama series. The cinematography is breathtaking another area worthy of some Emmy gossip. I believe true drama thriller lovers will be zealously pleased and there is no doubt that this drama will stick with you well after having finished watching it.

Mr. Mercedes: Fell on Black Days
(2018)
Episode 7, Season 2

Heartpounding Suspense
The episode to top all episodes. And another beautiful cliffhanger. Who is the one closest to Hodges that's get taken down in the end? What does that bullet in the head mean while Brady was inside? Who will be the end winner in this season? All of these questions proposed in episode 7! We walk away with many questions and so much more thrilling suspense ahead!!!

The Cry
(2018)

Nail biting suspense and a mindbending puzzler!
I have to admit I found the first half of the premiere long and didn't really understand what was happening. The acting is superb and I am a huge fan of actress Asher Keddie. (Awesome to see her back, she's made her way to Canada again!) This is a story that is much like putting together a rather large puzzle, but once the pieces fall in to place the suspense is all but edge of your seat fantastic. A child has disappeared in among a very complicated relationship that involves an unfavorable marriage split, remarriage, and the battle for a teenage girls custody and then a missing newborn child born from the second marriage. We see the mother charged (with what is not fully disclosed) and placed on trial. The dick of a father seems to be nowhere in these scenes and as a matter of fact for a mother with a colic baby on her hands he's as useless as tits on a bull. A thoughtless prick who seems to be only out for what makes him happy. The story line is character driven however these characters are extremely complicated and a bit odd acting given the seriousness of their situation. I gave episode one a generous 8 because I believe there is a tremendous amount of suspense to follow in this series and I believe with patience it is going to be well worth the watch and probably talked about days after it's finale.

Mr. Mercedes
(2017)

Season Two FUBAR!
When I started watching season 2, (it seemed like forever to arrive), I must say I was pretty confused by episode 3 at which point I was ready to throw in the towel, I mean this is crazy and how can this illogical story line continue to grow (but then again this is Stephen King!!). The answer is pretty easy: Brendan Gleeson is one of the finest story tellers of this decade. He pulled it off though, feeling just as he does waiting for something from Bradey I am completely and utterly hooked into this amazingly spun web of a story. When you can be so dedicated to a role to make the impossible believable you are literally of the elite class of story tellers. After just watching season two episode five I will now be that person who bites their nails down until the next episode is released. One cannot hand over credit to Mr. Gleeson solely. Harry Treadway knows how to pass the threshold of insanity only too well. And with this totally twisted character who is as retched and sick in the head as they come, he seems to be enjoying himself through the process; fittingly to Bradey's character and to even further twist our minds. Fasten your seat-belt folks its going to be a bumpy ride....

The Children Act
(2017)

Outstanding, incredible storytelling, unrelenting.
I am and always have been an Emma Thompson fan however when an actor such as Fionn Whitehead can show a fresh new face on the screen and totally steel it from Emma Thompson that's one mean feat! The blood transfusion for Mormons has always been a sore sport for me. I believe we all have the right to our own spirituality and belief system, sincerely I believe if something empowers you to the degree it can actually heal you (emotionally and physically) than so be it. I don't believe in the right, when a perfect outcome is like a practical sure thing, that taking that life is right. Its murder period. The Performance of Fionn Whitehold certainly taught me otherwise! A truly gifted actor with a bright brilliant career ahead of him. I think this film brought something different to us. It also teaches that ultimately it is our choice that matters most. Hats off, totally enjoyed this.

Terminal
(2018)

Visually Spectacular
Margot Robbie disappeared in a role off her beaten path but in one that had to have been made with her in mind. There is a slight aroma of Harley Quinn though which sadly takes away from her poor choice of designing this new character. The performances in this film are captivating and it is not until the end where the entire puzzle falls together. Thankfully that was done in an hour and half. Well written, great plot, visually spectacular (my 7) a shy bit short on pace. I am glad I watched the end which put the whole perspective of the movie in place. Cinematography is duly the award winning scale tipper for this great film noir.

American Woman
(2018)

Don't be fooled!
This cast of strong female actresses clearly have mastered the art of storytelling. Even still now we forget the place of woman in the 70's and this show is quick to show how the phrase "its a man's man world" was coined. Stunning costumes for sure an Emmy maker and how cinematography embraced the real true essence of living in the 70's make this show even that much more incredible to watch. This show is destined to be a top hit of the season. There is gay content which also epically shows us a new perspective on this culture in the 70's where we see that woman were tragically the first class to embrace homosexuals in the day. Bravo Paramount!!!

Dream Boat
(2017)

Fabulously Meaningful!
Cinematography is absolutely amazing during the entire movie. Spectacular costumes and amazing lighting gave a feel that you were on the very cruise itself. I identified with a lot of the characters and our struggles to accept one another and be real, free, open and honest. This film touched me in a way I doubt another gay film will. Bravo!

The Good Doctor
(2017)

Hail Freddy Highmore!!!
The first episode pulled me in immediately with a complex story-line and an extraordinary character. It was fast-paced and suspenseful. Remnants of Norman Bates however given the unique personality of this autistic adult who would appear as a sociopath personality which is in fact autism there would be similarities. This serious has the potential to deliver some strong punches along with some very good story-tellers. I did have difficulty with the second episode and the medical community to be so blatantly ignorant in their treatment towards an autistic adult. It was too disturbing for me to watch in its entirety. None of us wants to be subjected to watching an exemplary autistic adult individual being bullied by a profession that comes with higher educated individuals who are in fact supposed to be caring people. Hopefully, episode three gets me past this.

The Good Doctor: Mount Rushmore
(2017)
Episode 2, Season 1

Spectacular Performance From Freddy Highmore
I found the first episode had me instantly pulled in. I find the bullying of a character who appears autistic in appearance be treating so despicably by a member of a high-class profession such as a surgeon. This episode was draggy and disturbing to watch. I can say with Freddy Highmore's acting in the episode alone rates it a 10 however the story-line was a disappointment to watch the first episode where he is a hero thrown into a position that on a typically normal person is deplorable considering the profession. I could not break this episode down to a believable situation. Storytelling 10 story-line 3.

Disjointed
(2017)

Overdue unique and super cool, like ya know?
One it was so wonderful to see Kathy Bates back, however, it's a complete flip from the dark side. This brought memories of Cheech and Chong back so that says something as successful as they were. There are comedic punch lines that contain my kind of sharp wit. I think ya kinda have the SNL comedic sense of humour in order to get into this. Cheesy YES! Some of us go for that kind of comedy. There are some hilarious scenes that come from nowhere and I would call it no holds bar comedy, they don't hold back on anything and they do sink to that comedic well below the belt style. All enjoyable. I think as well the voting on this is a bit harsh. I'm in Canada though where we are legalizing medicinal MJ so my mind is open to cannabis use if that's what turned users off because if you didn't get a laugh out of this you're missing the picture!

GCB
(2012)

Now 5 years later this show would kill....so loved every second.
This series moves at a brilliantly fast pace. The acting is second to none. The cast is completely amazing. The humour is cray cray...I totally believe this show could survive if they revived it. This takes place in the bible belt in the south, all Christians who quote the bible and hilariously deliver messages and lot's of dialogue. It's cut throat, sneaky, and awesomely entertaining. I think the LGBT community must have been sad to see this go. Superbly written, directed and amazing performances that make you believe the so unbelievable, they were all gifted at telling this story. If you like sarcastically funny TV this hits the nail on the head.

The Fear of 13
(2015)

Gifted Story Telling at it's Finest
There are no words to express how deeply moving this documentary film is. I don't think there is an another actor or the like who could have told this story the way Nick Yarris tells it. He truly has a gift in this documentary that lures you deeper and deeper into the story. His expression of how some little things in life can change you and make you a better person and even stronger is spectacular. I truly hope that this documentary and Nick himself receives the recognition it so well deserves. I'll be watching this in the Academy Awards for best documentary category. I am an avid fan of true murder mystery documentaries and have watched countless over the years and I highly doubt that any other documentary will touch me how this one did. Nick Yarris is an incredibly strong man who is the hero in his own life.

37
(2016)

A total disrespect to the death of Kitty Genovese
I generally don't take the time to write reviews however having just watched the documentary The Witness and the agonizing investigation her brother did to bring peace to himself regarding his sister's tragic death, this movie was completely weird and did not make one iota of sense! How the children depicted in this film would be up at 2:00 AM having dysfunctional issues with their parents is beyond me. This movie is like a psychedelic bad acid trip. The murder itself is belittled and was so irrelevant to a bunch of meaningless circumstances that supposedly had all 37 characters preoccupied at the same time and in the same neighborhoods. It is just a pathetic epic fail to sell to the audience. I felt like an idiot to have kept my nose stuck to the screen for the agonizing amount of time it took for this movie to finally end.
