I Got Nailed in ... the Toolbox Murders
(2002)

Interesting background
The DVD of "The Toolbox Murders" included this roughly eight minute piece. It is an interview with Marianne Walter (a.k.a. adult film star Kelly Nichols.) Those who have seen the flick will remember her as the beauty that spent some quality time by herself in the bathtub before...well, it's a "slasher" movie with gory murders, but I don't wanna spoil it for ya!

Marianne was not included in the traditional commentary track that runs with the main feature, so it is nice to hear her comments about this classic 1977 example of the genre, her role in it and other assorted bits and pieces that came to mind.

The interview itself is professionally yet simply produced, allowing the subject to talk over live footage and clips from the feature. It is a very competent effort that succeeds in being informative.

The addition of "I Got Nailed..." to the "Toolbox" DVD is certainly a welcomed one, adding greater value to the overall package.

Queen Christina
(1933)

An excellent film.
The set design and wardrobe are well done, as is the cinematography and sound (it came out only six years after the first talkie, and in light of the technical limitations of its' day it is better than many that have followed years later.)

Acting, writing and pacing also are excellent. Garbo's character is a well written one realized by a performance with which we can empathize. Proof that seventy years ago, there were those that understood both the art and science of how to make a fine film...

Drop the Dead Donkey
(1990)

I enjoyed it...!
Never having traveled abroad, I have no idea what the references to British media were about. Nonetheless, the episodes that ran on Comedy Central were still terrific! Perhaps it was a matter of which episodes out of the six year run were aired over here, but what I saw was an excellent ensemble cast with pithy writing that any "homegrown" sitcom would rightfully give an arm and leg to have.

I wish episodes were available in NTSC DVD form, 'cuz I'd like to see more...! :)
