WINTER HEAT (aka Snowbound) 1975. 70min Four crusty criminal losers break into the snow-covered rural cabin of three lovely city gals and raise holy hell while they have their raw way with them. The fantastically demented scumbags, consisting of 3 guys and their main squeeze Agnes, (Helen Madigan, better known for her role in NAKED CAME THE STRANGER) are led by Jaimie 'Worlds biggest pervert' Gillis, and bring new meaning to the term 'lowlifes'.

Joey (Ray Carter), Benji (Mickey Humm), and Stevie (Gillis) are one of the seediest packs of beleaguered beatniks to ever appear in a porn film, and to make matters all that much more exciting, the three innocent city gals - Jenny (Jenny Lane), Clair (Lisa Young aka Judy Watt), and Gail (an uncredited Bree Anthony) - are fresh faced vacationing cuties with tender, untouched-looking bodies.

So be prepared for their violation, degradation, and overall 'touching' at the hands of Gillis and co. to be unnerving and memorable.

There is plenty of entertainment here for the perverse amongst us.

Jenny's inconsolable whimpering while she sucks cock against her will is nasty enough, but the beatnik dialog to come out of the pie holes of 'The Bad Bad Gang' probably makes her wish they had stuffed cocks in her ears as well.

'The problems of today, they're giving everybody in the world the blues," Benji laments, 'I need to get right tonight, I been wrong too long," concludes Joey, both obviously in love with the sound of their own voices.

Distributor Alpha Blue Archives aptly describe this product as 'An ambient roughie which strikes a relaxed groove through its insulated setting and occasional disco music interludes.' But really the most outstanding thing here is Gillis' incredible 'oatmeal humiliation' scene that stands out in the annals of rape porn history. I don't wanna give it away, but suffice to say the seedy and creative way with which oatmeal is utilized sexually here will have you questioning all your breakfast choices into the foreseeable future.

Directed by Claude Goddard, whose only other directorial credit was to make BARBIE'S FANTASIES with Gillis a year earlier.

Armand Weston was no stranger to the domination/degradation styled hardcore genre, directing both "The Taking of Christina" and "A Dirty Western" a short time later, but it was with "The Defiance of Good" that he really put kinky sleaze on the map. Perhaps the greatest compliment I can give this film is that much of the terror is provided through psychological torture which is far harder to do competently than yet another cliched "whipping of the ass" scene. (Although the nasty stuff is certainly on display as well!) The performances really sell this aspect as well. Highly recomended. The AVN named this several years ago as "One of the greatest currently unavailable adult titles". I'm inclined to agree!

It's not often I happen upon a shot-on-video wank-fest that actually holds it's own against the higher bugeted classic 35mm triple X fare of yesteryear, but Second Skin doesn't embarrass any of the performers on display. Plus: I'm a sucker for a good hostage drama. Who doesn't like those?

Especially good is Jamie Gillis as the "heavy", a worldly jewel expert/gang boss who throws his weight around with flair and makes the camera, as well as his female co-stars grovel before him.

It's a shame that the ending is so poorly edited and seems rushed, because otherwise this might have been a minor classic of the genre. It's still worth a viewing, and the sex on display is quite watchable.

This shot-on-video late 80's porn film is actually pretty decently paced and written. Randy West (What is it with that guy's cock? It looks like a pink goldfish with it's mouth wide open! ewww) is solving a case and getting pussy at the same time.

His scene where he does (can't remember her name) from behind on the hood of a car, and makes her chew on her own panties is certainly a highlight.

You could do a lot worse.

I have only this to say: You may not remember what happened in this film, (or you may TRY to forget) but you will never forget the experience of watching it. Trust me on this. It is BEYOND bad. Are you listening? BEYOND bad...

Alex De Renzy was one of only a handful of porn directors that were gifted enough to have their own visual style, something that sadly, dissapeared in his later work once hardcore features began to be shot on video. Femmes de Sade, in it's uncut form (Tough to find) is one of my favorite 70's XXX films. It's just so messed up and vile! A huge deranged pervert gets out of jail and bums a ride with a fellow inmate who has also been released, and has been picked up by his girlfriend. Needless to say, it does not end up nicely for her. I don't want to give up too much about the film in case you actually ever get to see it, but the scene where the gigantic sex-freak sucks his own wang, and then tries to force an unwilling female to give herself oral sex is one of the most unnerving scenes in adult film history. Alex De Renzy, you will be missed.

This film is based VERY closely to real events in a homicide that took place in Hong Kong the year before the film came out. The mermaid Hello-kitty in the film, that the killers store the victims skull in after they've finished torturing her and cutting up her corpse, is identical to the mermaid Hello-kitty doll that the real killers used in the exact same way. (Note: In the non-theatrical versions of the film *dvd, vcd*, Sanrio demanded that the film makers digitally fog the doll. This aspect makes the film even more strange!)

This is a disturbing film and a very memorable experience, that is all the more insane and outrageous when you take into account that it actually happened.

Another film, "HUMAN PORKCHOP" was made around the same time, and is based on the same case, although it takes a few more liberties with the story.

Long Jeanne is an young and clearly intoxicated blonde-haired lass with one strange difference that made her a porn star of note in the late 70's and early 1980s. Jeanne had phallic birth defect.... Meaning: A leg stump in the shape of a huge erection! Jeanne waves her sexy stump around throughout this film like a plucked chicken wing and when she actually penetrates some poor miserable co-star (reportedly a guy director Alex De Renzy picked up on Polk Street in San Francisco), you have to fight your eyes to keep them from popping right out of your head. Check this legendary American adult film out. It may not be all that professionally made but it is awfully unique and you'll never forget it!

Zebedy Colt had to be one of the most deranged porn actors/directors of the 70's. His three most memorable films (Sex Wish, The Devil inside her, and Terri's Sweet revenge) all also featured his pervy ingénue Terri Hall, and over the top mixtures of violence, sex, and drama. A potent mix! Harry Reems is great in the lead role as a blissful husband who's wife is raped and killed by a freak with a pantyhose on his head (Zebedy Colt) who has been doing the same to other innocent women and couples throughout New York. The attacks are twisted and not for the faint of heart, as Colt alternates between gleefully tittering as he pretends to be a 6 year old boy, and then becomes "Mommy" and starts screaming "You taught my boy dirty tricks! I'll teach you!!" Fans of Cannibal Holocaust will be interested to note that that films star Robert Kerman shows up in a supporting role as cop hunting for the twisted psycho. Robert is in a non-sex role in this xxx outing, but he wasn't a stranger to porn showing up in many porn films under the name Richard Bolla. I would love to know what mossy, slime-coated rock Mr. Colt crawled under after his tenure in 70's triple x, because the industry certainly hasn't seen many like him since.

Having seen most of Ringo Lam's films, I can say that this is his best film to date, and the most unusual. It's a ancient china period piece cranked full of kick-ass martial arts, where the location of an underground lair full of traps and dungeons plays as big a part as any of the characters. The action is fantastic, the story is tense and entertaining, and the set design is truely memorable. Sadly, Burning Paradise has not been made available on DVD and vhs is next-to-impossible to get your mitts on, even if you near the second biggest china-town in North America (like I do). If you can find it, don't pass it up.
