As someone who has always been a big fan of Hans Zimmer, I absolutely loved this. I was a bit skeptical of the 2 hour and 38 minute runtime but within the first five minutes I was completley hooked. If anything I wanted more by the end of the film which was so engrossing that it felt no longer than an hour and ten minutes.
I never got a chance to see Hans Zimmer live, but this film definitely allows you to get a sense of what his concerts are like. The cinematography was great and the sound design/editing was also perfect.
Another thing I really loved was how they went about incorporating some of the actors and directors who have worked with Hans into small interview segments. It could've taken away from the incredible concert footage but it never did because the discussions were very interesting and informative.
There were many moments throughout the film where I could feel myself becoming emotional just due to the nostalgia of hearing the music I grew up on. Overall I would say if you are a diehard fan of Hans Zimmer like I am, you should definitely check this out.

After seeing so many people rave about this film and say it is the best of 2024 I was somewhat excited and intrigued to watch this. I have loved Adrien Brody as an actor since The Pianist and after watching the trailers for The Brutalist I figured this film would be that level of quality.
Unfortunately that is not remotely the case. While Guy Pearce and Adrien Brody give great performances, the film itself just does not work at all. It starts off great with beautiful cinematography and what seems to be a great story but it all just falls apart after the intermission.
Honestly to me at least it felt like two separate movies. The first half was interesting, unique and engaging while the second half felt like watching paint dry it was so boring. What makes it even more bizzare is the pacing feels like it goes from 0 to 100 and at the same time nothing really happens.
If you enjoy looking at buildings/architecture for nearly 3 hours and 40 minutes maybe this movie is for you. For me though this is one of those films that came out just to take home a ton of awards because it's "art".

I went and saw A Complete Unknown at a 2:00 pm showing, the first one my local theater had available. After seeing some mixed reactions from critics and people that saw early screenings of the film, I was skeptical. Fortunately that skepticism was completely washed away within the first ten minutes of the film.
I was not around in the 1960s but this film transports you back to that time effortlessly. Everything looks and feels authentic and even the way the film is shot has an almost dirty muddy color. Not once did it feel like I was watching a biopic which was pretty much my biggest worry going into it.
All of the performances are phenomonally well done but for me the one that stood out the most was Timothée Chalamet. Not once did it feel like he was doing an interpretation of Bob Dylan. The music/sound design was also top notch.
For me A Complete Unknown is the best film of 2024 easily. It has alot more heart than I expected and by the end of it I felt like I had just been to a Bob Dylan concert for two and a half hours which is by no means a bad thing.
