Facing the Giants
(2006)

Not just about football, it's about LIFE!
Joining the ranks of outstanding sports-themed movies such as RUDY and HOOSIERS, make way for FACING THE GIANTS! WOW! What a movie! With football as the backdrop, this very inspirational movie will get you up out of your seat to cheer for this team that was facing giants not only physically, but also spiritually! In the process, you'll find yourself rooting for Coach Taylor and his wife, and their local Christian High School football team! In the end, I bet you'll also be cheering for the life changing power of God through prayer! This movie has a very believable storyline, including a backstory that is also thought provoking. I was also impressed by the cinematography, including the football action scenes. For a lower budget than most movies produced today, I found it a very well done movie from the technical standpoint as well! I very highly recommend this movie!

Broken Trail
(2006)

The Great American Western DEAD? No Way!!!
Whoever said the Great American Western is dead must NOT have seen this mini-series OR has never loved Western Movies in the first place! Not since Open Range and Tombstone have I seen a movie of this caliber! (So sorry, I could not help the pun!) I must admit overall, I was much more familiar with Duvall's previous film work than Church's, but BOTH men bring their characters to life very vividly! An added benefit to this excellent mini-series is that just by watching, one learns just a taste of what life was like in the West in the late 1800's. By the way, I bet John Ford and John Wayne would be proud of this, one of the newest additions to the Great American Western genre! Go watch it sometime--it's well worth your time!

Say One for Me
(1959)

once you see it, you WILL like it!!
Not sure why the "critics" disliked this movie that much. I first saw it as a kid and even now--in my 30's--I still find myself enjoying the simple story of a "bad seed"--Wagner's character--going good.

Top-notch music and dance numbers with Debbie Reynolds add that special spark to keep the story fresh and full of energy. The talents of an emsemble cast including the great Bing Crosby, dashing Robert Wagner, and versatile Ray Walston contribute greatly to this film's appeal.

Your best bet to see this fine film would be cable since as of this writing SAY ONE FOR ME is not available on vhs or dvd.

As the saying goes--try it, you'll like it! See SAY ONE FOR ME sometime soon! It's worth it!
