Pandorum
(2009)

One of the best Sci-Fi / Horror Movies I've seen
Clever and brilliant, are the words to describe this masterpiece. A combination of several elements, from sci-fi to horror with a refreshed and genius vision of the archetypes. What I loved the most about the movie is that it doesn't give you all the answers, it let's you imagine and figure them out. The other thing that I loved is the claustrophobic ambiance and disturbing scenes folding one after the other. Just amazing. The only thing that I didn't like so much was Dennis Quaid performance, don't misunderstand me, he's a terrific actor, I just think he can do better than that. I'm giving a 9 stars to this movie. It has become one of my favorites of all times. Go watch it.

Paranormal Activity
(2007)

Shadow People
I'm going to give it a 6, because I didn't find it very scary and I hated the ending (don't know which one I watched since there is an a alternative ending). However, this movie is possibly the first of its kind to approach the subject of Shadow People. I don't have any problems talking about it, but many like me do. All that is said by Katie (except the burning house) is in fact real, maybe based in someone's testimonial. There are three kinds of entities, the "hat-man", the "hooded-figure" and the "demon from the trees" (as I call it). Ever since I was a little boy until I was about 25 I used to see this shadowed things. However, unlike the movie, this things don't interact or speak to us, except the "demon from the trees", which may try in several occasions to attack us, and yes, its screams are very similar to those in the movie. I used to be scared to death of these things, until I noticed that fear is what drives them (the movie also brings this up). However, no possessions ever occurred and no photos were ever stolen. It's difficult for me to talk about this, because I always fear that they can come back. Believe it or not and I don't care, but these things exist. Others like me will watch and see themselves in this movie.

Violence and brutality have a new meaning...
I'm a big fan of horror movies and this one is surely one of the best I have ever seen, however, I'm not so sure if I would call it a horror movie, because, in spite of all the violence and gore (lots of it), it's kind of a psychological thriller, in which, we, the spectator, is undoubtedly in great stress and tension, like the main character. Well, yes, it really affected me, specially the final scene (you'll know what I'm talking about). I really liked Frontier(s) and Haute Tension, both great movies, very violent and honest, with deep characters and great actors. About this one I only have to say: go see it; and well done Monsieur Alexandre Bustillo and Monsieur Julien Maury. Great movie. I hope to see some more.

Lost
(2004)

Best show EVER!!!
I'm totally hooked on this show. It's amazing. Through time (yeah time, know what I mean?) I've developed a set of theories about it. However I now am inclined to just appreciate it and keep an open mind. It really messes with our brain. There are only a few things I'm almost certain (or maybe not). The last episode of Season 3 isn't perhaps a flash-forward but a flashback from Jack (think about that). In the first episode of Season 1, Jack may have (or not) time travel or teleported to the island (he wanted to return there and maybe he did, notice how far he was from the crash site and how he ran to the beach as if he already knew where he was going). Jacob is Jack (in Hebrew Jack is Jacob... again, or not). Aaron is the key character for the whole Lost plot, he's like a kind of messiah or saviour (or not). The four toed foot isn't the Statue Of Liberty; the foot is different and the sandal (seems like a Roman sandal)too, so which statue is it? I still have my doubts if the Island is in the future or in the past (the doctor scene and the polar bear skeleton confused me even more). A lot of "maybes" and "or not" here... oh well... it's Lost, right? That's the fun of it. I also would like to congratulate the writers for adding to the soundtrack the greatest band ever: Nirvana with the song Scentless Apprentice. Thanks guys. Cool scene.

Do you want some nightmares?
This is truly a superb horror movie. I loved this movie so much I had to leave a comment. It has been a long time since I jumped off my seat a few times (way too many). It has some of the scariest scenes I have ever seen (you'll know what I'm talking about). The way it's filmed helps us to live this "nightmare" as it was for real, as if it was a news article. The "suspension of disbelief" works unlike some other titles I have seen. I'm a big horror movie fan and I must tell you: you have to see this. I'm overwhelmed, I'm frightened, I'm suspicious, I can't even sleep... It really scared me big time. There's one particular scene (you'll know, believe me) that I do not recommend for those who are easily impressionable. Go see it. One of the best horror movies I have ever seen.

Venom
(2005)

A very very good movie. An oldie-like slasher.
I really loved this movie so I was surprised to see that it was so lowly rated. The script is well written, the characters are in place, good-acting and... it gave me the creeps and made me jump of my chair a few times. Go see it, I believe you'll like it. The mixture between two genres was really good, the occult and slasher. The man becomes the monster, not like Mike (Myers) or Jason, not even like Freddy. That's why I found it somehow original. The voodoo stuff was not boring, because it was little explained, they were smart enough to only point out the major details, which were important to the story. I think the only flaw is the unoriginal way in which some of the characters die, however it's still a great movie. I recommend it.

Batman
(1989)

Sorry, I didn't like it...
Being a movie by Tim Burton, I expected a lot more. Batman, as it is greatly portrayed in Batman Begins, is a sinister, dark, gloomy, Gothic hero, and so are their enemies, like Joker. I didn't like anything about the movie, except for Jack Nicholson acting. He did a great job, although that's not the Joker I expected. The soundtrack by Prince is awful, the very colorful scenes and the very unrealistic sets as well. So, I recommend Batman Begins, but not this Batman. Burton can do better, and Batman deserves it, he's the most accurate personification of a human super-hero, a two-faced, two-hearted man, divided by evil and good. The bat within the man. Not a good movie if you like more sinister heroes like Eric Draven from The Crow. It might just be a question of taste, I don't know. Wacth it anyway. I gave it a 5.
