Before Midnight
(2013)

pretentious and unreal
I thought it was great until the hotel room argument and she comes back- that is not marriage. The points and insecurities echo real marriage but she came back twice! Maybe to get her shoes but it all seemed very scripted. guess what it is! It's a movie and you can't get lost in that fact. That fact never disappears. There were hints before during the walk that looked more like they were dating rather than dating for many years. The feeling that they don't know each other is obvious to me, actors playing roles. They have a bit of chemistry but not married chemistry for sure. That is essential in this movie. I like the philosophical concepts addressed but I can't go beyond that.

The Encounter
(2010)

no subtlety like anything blatantly Christian
Horrible. Production quality is OK. The movie would be better as a play... in a church. I am a Christian but this movie is all I hate about Christian productions. Zero subtlety. Other people can get their point across through careful character development instead of such obvious church propaganda. Why can't Christians who have God to give inspiration do the same? Diner owner named Jesus? Really? Only serving water? Then he gets right into the weirdness and creepy behavior and bad duologue and quotes from the Bible. I am so depressed after watching 10 minutes of this. Please some Christian should make a movie for people with a brain.
