Saw
(2004)

Truly scary!
I've always loved horror movies and somehow they just seem to get better and better. From the 80s with gems like 'Nightmare on Elm Street' and 'Friday the 13th' to the 90s with 'Scream' and to the present day like 'Saw.' Horror never seems to tire, just when you think it does BAM!...they introduce another level. The 'Saw' movies are just the latest addition. I found these movies truly scary and superbly done - The traps and puzzles are absolutely ingenious. The acting is top-notch and the tension is unrelenting. I loved the movies so much I promptly added them to my expanding DVD collection. Long may the series continue...

Trancers
(1984)

Superb 80s Sci-Fi
I remember renting this superb Sci-Fi movie back in the late 80s. I'd only had a VCR for about a year and this renting video titles lark was still very exciting for me. Trancers was one of my favorites at the time and still is to this day. It stood the test of time. Speaking of time, that's what this movie is all about. Jack Deth (Tim Thomerson in great form) travels back in time to stop Whistler who created the kill-crazy 'Trancers.' A terrific sci-fi action movie that, despite being low-budget, never fails to thrill. I haven't been able to find it on DVD as yet but I'm ever alert. I hope to get it and its 5 sequels in a box-set. If not I'd happily settle for 'Trancers' on its own...

A Nightmare on Elm Street
(1984)

Popular or not?
Wasn't the entire Elm Street movie series popular when they first came out? Didn't they (at least the first few) do well in the movies and on video? I, for one, remember how popular they were in the video stores. I couldn't get a copy as they were always out. Besides, if the series wasn't popular they wouldn't have made 8 like they did!

Freddie quote: "Every town has an Elm Street."
