Doctor Slump
(2024)

Not believable characters for well educated grown adults
So you expect me to believe 2 grown ass adults that are top doctors behave like teenage love struck children?!!

If a plastic surgeon & an anesthesiologist behaved like this in real life I wouldn't go to them. The mother of the lead woman is also portrayed as an unstable lunatic. The only practical and believable character with any maturity is the brother of the lead woman. My friend happened to come over while watching and quipped the lead who plays the plastic surgeon is def on the spectrum. That is how silly these characters come across. Episode 11 was so ridiculous in the behaviors of 2 adults in a romantic relationship that I thought I was watching a Saturday morning kids show. Talk about bad writing. I don't know if I'll even continue watching this. In what world do well educated adults act this way? Disney has more thought out characters in their animated kids shows!

Killers of the Flower Moon
(2023)

Killer of a writer
What horrible dialogue. No one is convincing because they all had such a horrible script. I think they gave the Emmy for best actress out of guilt for how much they screwed over the Osage people. She literally couldn't act!! What a waste of money and talent. This is up there with some of the worst movies I've ever seen.my rating of a 3 was for all the extras hired and set design.

A lot of big names cast in the cast and director included but nothing is convincing.

I only got as far as the court hearing because I couldn't finish the movie. I would not waste my time and don't be fooled by the big names. The story is just horrendous and written poorly.

First K-Drama I've ever watched
I'm a sucker for time travel so even though it was a very young cast I still had to watch it. At first I tried to watch dubbed version but the voices they chose were horrendous. So I had to watch the entire series in English subtitles. That's more attention I usually pay to watching most shows. What I've learned Is K dramas have beautiful cinematography and the characters are dressed like Lifetime movie actors. A little pretentious. What I did like was the combination of thriller, psychological and rom-com all in one. Usa just hasn't been able to pull that off since the 80s. Harry met Sally comes to mind.

Korean guys are really good looking so it was ez on the eyes. Especially when the guy had a long shag. My favorite style on guys since I grew up when hair was big and everywhere lol!

I loved the gay love scene but they never really explored it. So was the guy going to be gay but then the straight guy enters his body and that's over? I'd really like to know more about his future as this character but we don't get to.

It what feels like to be a Jewish daughter
The writers nailed this. I don't know about all the mess and complications due to the whoring orJewish parents accepting the flimflamsy bisexuality of their daughter but if you really want to peak inside decades and decades of dysfunctional relationships in Jewish families; this movie nails it.

You're fat you're skinny. Typical banter in front of personal friends and enemies is spot on. Revealing utmost humiliations to newly met friends of family this too shall pass. I think I need to see my therapist from all the mishagos and haserai that bubbled up the pandora's Jewish box. Oy. They even got the crazy old ladies down to a T. I have to start writing scripts. Meaning I could have written this.

When the Starlight Ends
(2016)

The American accent ruined Sam's groove
Besides a horrible script, Sam didn't have a chance with an American accent. Instead of acting you can literally see him thinking about the words he must pronounce. Not to mention the bad edits and fake green screen demise. Oh well. At least David Arquette wasn't bad. As far as the other actors they were all pretty bad but Sam and the agent took the cake on the overacting curse. Oy.

What's the buzz about?!!
I was so bored and disappointed. When's it gonna get better I kept asking my husband as we watched this movie. The band and dancing during the wake scene was the only reprieve. Yet it had nothing to do with the whole movie. It just seemed to be plunked down inside this script to get all his childhood memories in.

Not entertaining or mind provoking. Two thumbs down. Tg I got it on Redbox for only $2.

The Power of the Dog
(2021)

It still haunts me
I just finished watching it yesterday and I can't stop thinking/picking it apart. It's written so logically for a change. I love how they steer you in one direction and then there's the twist. I don't want to give anything away but there is an eerie feeling to it.

I was able to guess what happened but the power and pleasure in which the boy took each step that grew him closer to his destination was clever yet very stereotypical of a serial killer. All the ingredients were in place if you looked. Chilling.

The Holiday
(2006)

Needs a sequel
Great cast to see age and daughters grown. So many angles especially with technology. This movie basically was responsible for Airbnb!

Just think what it could spark on the sequel? Think about it.

Immoral Compass

That opening song intro
I can't review it yet because I've only watched the first 3 shorts. However, it's pretty funny in a tragic way. Details were left out with Bill Burr as the mechanic. He should have dirty fingernails and callous fingers. That's just nitpicking. But what really got me stumped is the 80s synth song that I can't remember where Ive heard it before. Most likely a tv theme from a popular 80s show. If you recognize it, please post!! I'll update this once I watch more. I only got through 3 of the shorts. To be continued...

Zack Snyder's Justice League

Directors Cuts are Essential
So much better!! I will continue this review. I watched in 2hr segments.

Wonder Woman
(2017)

Nice costumes and soundtrack
Yup. Music, armor costume and cougar costume amazing. Horrible screenplay Horrible acting by almost all. Chris Pine has picked up William Shatner's ticks and style of speech. Mandor actor was horrible. Gal is ok. Expected much better. Do not recommend

1000 Ways to Die
(2008)

Love this series. Time for a reboot
Why did they stop? My favorite is the woman who got a Gastro bipass or tummy tuck. Can't remember which surgery but she went on a date with an old flame or ex husband and he was so impressed with her looks and as she was telling him off the surgeon's scalpel pops through her stomach and she dies on the restaurant table. It seems the surgeon forgot one of his tools when he sewed her up. Di di di dom! <boom

Superintelligence
(2020)

Got too corny
Had to fast forward through a lot of cheesiness. Cute fluff. Predictable

Counterpart
(2017)

It's alright but how did they foresee the pandemic?!!
I'm just watching season 1 I'm guessing was filmed in 2016. They predicted the #pandemic

The Queen's Gambit
(2020)

Haven't finished it yet! Binge watching
I just wish the promo shot wasn't just of a dame with Queen in the title.. I assumed it was going to be another Royal soap opera which I am dreadfully not into! No Thank heavens it's not! Hooray!

it's about the passion for Chess and the strength and ability of a female in the male dominated 60s!! That's what I'm totally into. So far I'm loving and binge watching but I started late in the evening so I had to quit. I think im on episode 6 or 7. Highly recommend

Bloodshot
(2020)

Disappointed and trés cheesy dialogue
Horrible acting. So disappointed. Usually his flix are cheesy yes, but even the action scenes were corny and predictable. I watched it twice because I love gadget and action movies so much. I also was rooting for Mr Heughan to rise above but even that fell short. Jeez he couldn't even do an American accent. He shouldn't have tried. The best part of the entire show was the Brit who played the computer genius and of course the stunt men!

Sick of It All
(2016)

It's so bad it's good
I can't stop watching this horrible film noir. The boy takes out his candy cigarettes and asks do you mind? The guy replies, Chew em if you got em! 😜

Our Souls at Night
(2017)

She can't act any longer
Jayne's looks are ultimately more important than her acting. The wig, the facelift, the upscale polished speaking mannerisms that a small town older woman would not have. Not a believable story with these 2 mega screen stars portraying simple folk. Maybe if they cast actors that can still act, it would've been better. It's a believable story, but a casting fail.

I'm Dying Up Here
(2017)

Waiting for the next season
You can't keep us hanging! Loved this series. I hope they renew it. Any news?

Huge in France
(2019)

A very French take
At first it was very bland. The assistant Brian turned out to be extremely funny. I love French movies and under stated comedy so even though it begins corny but, it grew on me. The characters are all very good and get better with each episode. It is true to French-style cinema in that it's like real life. I don't want to spoil anything but I you're patient, which is asking for a lot with American audiences; it will be very powerful. I hope to see a second season!

Danny Collins
(2015)

old head rocker takes a second dip
wow, how bad was this film? no character development of any of the actors. They all had 2 seconds to prove their acting ability. The only interesting thing about the movie was during the credits they show the interview of the person the movie is based on. Also Al Pacino uses a similar coke straw made of metal that he used in scarface. the little girl was annoying, I'm gathering she was really like that off screen. So they decided to write a story around it. The screenplay writer really was using that metal straw while writing the actor's scripts. No development. No wonder so many actors opted out before this monstrosity got the OK to put out to the public. and No wonder they were hyping it so much on Facebook. You ever notice the really good movies don't get a lot of promotion?

Blue Valentine
(2010)

No Character Study but plenty of Sex, but for what?...
This movie was so disappointing!I expected so much more from these two actors. There's one scene that is supposed to be sweet where Michelle Williams starts dancing to a Ukulele song played and sung by Ryan Gosling that's not even cute because we never got to know these characters. The story jumps back in forth through time. Just keeping track is exhausting. You never know when it starts or begins. Sex scenes that are there but why? I'm never convinced that anyone ever loved anyone in this entire movie. The only actor that got a rise out of me was the boyfriend from college who plays a wrestler. He was a bit of a smacked-ass and played this role beautifully. I know this movie already got nominated; so my question is, Who blew who?

Funny Games

Are Rich people really that dumb?
I was subjected to this slow moving movie via my partner's pick. I find it very hard to believe that a wealthy couple would be that stupid to let a stranger into their home just by mentioning a name and a request for eggs. I also find it very unbelievable that the husband would not respect his wife's wishes and not just toss the stranger out with force. To be wealthy enough to afford a home in say Martha's Vineyard type home;you would have to be quick on your feet, hard as nails and a ball-buster to boot. I speak from experience. The only 2 reasons this could happen in my mind is they inherited their money so they don't know anything about what it takes to make that kind of money or the writer hates rich people. That's my story and I'm stickin to it.
