Fatman
(2020)

The Christmas Movie We Need!
This film is brilliant and exactly the kind of Christmas movie I needed to watch this year- it's just the right amount of dark, twisted humor combined with action, romance, and revenge. The sets are fantastic, the production design is genius, the writing is solid, the direction is spot on and the acting is wonderful. I also really enjoyed the fresh and interesting take on Santa's elves. This film is definitely going to become a staple in the Christmas film rotation for me alongside a Christmas Story, Bad Santa, Elf and It's a Wonderful Life.

Speed of Life

Thoughtful and Lovely Grounded Sci-Fi
If you're into explosions and action, then this isn't the movie for you but if you enjoy human connection, careful consideration of the human experience and superb acting, then you will enjoy this film. Ann Dowd shines in the main role and her supporting cast does a stellar job. The direction is strong and I thought they made a great story based all in one location. There is a "ticking clock" in the story that I thought could have been utilized more, but all in all, this is a fantastic film. Considering the budget, they all did a wonderful job!

Bethany Hamilton: Unstoppable
(2018)

Inspiring Film!
Gorgeously shot and with amazing editing - this film highlights what's truly amazing about Bethany Hamilton: her unwillingness to give up (the title is perfect!). I was so inspired after seeing this film. I highly recommend seeing iy on the biggest screen possible so you can experience the force and power of the ocean from all of the amazing shots this film managed to capture.

Intelligent Film That Makes You Think
I saw this film at the LA Film Fest and was blown away. The performances are compelling and the plot emotional and complex. I left the theater and thought about the film for days afterward. To me, that is what makes a film great or not - did it change your opinion or help you see the world in a different way? This film definitely did that for me. Highly recommended!

There Is a New World Somewhere
(2015)

Stunning First Feature by Li Lu
Lu's breakout feature film is stunning, gorgeously shot, and extremely ambitious for an independent film. The film follows Sylvia on a road trip through the south with a charming, sexy, and slightly dangerous stranger she meets one night before the wedding of an old friend. The reveal at the end makes the movie that much more powerful. The acting is fantastic in the film and it is perfectly cast. The directing and editing really shape gorgeous moments between the two leads. I was taken aback by the locations of the movie and how well they are captured. As we take this journey with Sylvia, our choices for our future, like hers, become more and more apparent.
