Bram Stoker's Dracula
(1992)

A good vampire movie
It is a decent vampire film. Still, imho, cannot be compared to Herzog's Nosferatu from 1979 - that one is a true masterpiece and probably my favorite vampire movie (along wih Polanski's Fearless Vampire Killers).

Riding the Bullet
(2004)

My guilty pleasure
I understand that it is not a great film, but somehow I really enjoy it - the atmosphere of the road, the characters... There's smth that makes me like it irrationaly.

The Irishman
(2019)

Art of leaving the stage while you're still good
The latest movies of Scorsese and Tarantino are just such a dissapointment - they look like a weak imitations of their best works, made back in the day. I wish I didn't see this - it's better not to see your loved ones at a funeral with an open coffin - better remember them how they were when still full of life

The Mummy
(1999)

Indiana Jones of the 90s
This is the path the creators of Indiana Jones should have taken after the trilogy. Simple, entertaining adventure with bright characters, great atmosphere and tons of humor.

In Fabric
(2018)

The first part is amazing
The first part (till character switch) was imho amazing - atmospheric, creepy, beautifully shot, surreal, wonderful score, etc. But then the second part comes.. It does not have any added value plotwise. Also it looks lazy - looks like it was directed by someone else or if they didn't have time and were rushing. Anyway, just because the first hour is so good, giving it 10 out of 10.

Child's Play
(2019)

One of the best Child's Play movies in the whole franchise!
I have dual feelings about this reboot. First, I do understand that Mancini's & Dourif's feelings are hurt and it is not a nice thing for studio to do, but.... And here I come to my second point: imho (to be honest) this reboot is just such a good movie! It is actually one of the better ones out of the whole franchise! Since part 2 it has only been such a downgrade.. at least for me (all those brides, seeds & cults are unwatchable to me). PS. I would actually love to hear Don Mancini's thoughts on this film now - after he has watched it.

Dance of the Vampires
(1967)

One of the best vampire films ever made (imho)!
Although it's a comedy I think it's one of the best vampire films ever made. Along with Nosferatu the Vampyre from 1979, of course. Polanskis' film is so atmospheric, the Central European feel, the characters, the beautiful cinematography... All that makes this movie a feast to the eye! I watch it at least once (sometimes twice a year) and never get bored! Highly recommending!

Mad Max 2
(1981)

Nothing beats the original
The original imho is so much better. The first Mad Max is an futuristic tragedy/vengeance movie. This one is action packed desert/fur/spikes&horns movie - I guess I am just not a fan of all that... It's good, but imo not as good as the 1st one. I know the majority thinks different though. Sorry

Suspiria
(2018)

Beautiful, fresh modern horror!
Interesting... most of those viewers who love this Suspiria are not big fans of the original. Well, I am - to me - the original Suspiria is one of my favorite movies of all times. Early Argento is amazing. But so is this movie! It's original, it's fresh, it's what a modern horro should be. Along with Hereditary - my favorites of 2018. Amazing urban atmosphere of 70s Berlin, beatiful cinematography & colors, beatiful dance sequences, great acting by both leads, original and unexpected ending. If you think that a remake (especially if the original is a cult classic) should be similar to original source material, you're so wrong.. Look at The Fly, The Thing... I am sure in 30 years this will be considered as a classic masterpiece on it's own! Highly recommend!

Sleepaway Camp
(1983)

An 80s slasher that stands out
It's a wonderful, nostalgic 80s slasher film. Perhaps not as good as Black Christmas (that imho is absolutely the best slasher of all times), but it's one of the better ones out there, that's for sure. Everythings is here: good character developement, good plotline, gory effects, right atmosphere.. and the charming Felissa Rose in the lead role! And boy what an ending... It just gives you chills every time you watch it (just like the end of Invasion of the Body Snatchers). Highly recommended!

The Prowler
(1981)

A boring slasher
Well, being a slasher fan I was a bit disappointed.. The plot was very straightforward - no twists & predictable villain (from the very beginning). The music & the final girl /pitchfork scenes were an obvious Friday the 13th part 2 rip off. In general - not bad, but also not good. A bit boring..

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me
(1992)

Not the Twin Peaks I love
Thanks God Lynch directed only few episodes for the first 2 seasons. Otherwise it would be just as bad as this movie or the new season (awful). Love most of Lynch's movies & appreciate his art, but to me Twin Peaks was, is & will always be that dreamy small town with strange characters, humour & mysteries..

Halloween
(2018)

Not bad
I am not a huge Halloween fan, so I thought it's ok. One fan reviewed it on youtube saying it was the best horror movie of the year. I disagree with that. I thought it was not scary or creepy at all. MM was not spooky, the kills also looked pretty boring (imho). It had the right Halloween atmosphere though. Overall - not bad. But also not great.

The Neon Demon
(2016)

21st century Argento
Loved it! If Argento would still be making good movies - this would be smth the master of Italian horror would've made! Cold, heartless, dark world of fashion business with a dark & twisted ending.

Halloween
(2007)

Disappointment...
Well... where should I start?

I was really excited when I heard about this remake coming out! Did I like it? No! And here are the reasons:

1) It claims to be a remake, but it's a totally different story! 2) It ain't a whole new concept though, because the original Halloween plot is used (and in a pretty bad way).. 3) It's SO not scary.. It can hardly be called a horror movie! 4) The pr-story about Michaels childhood is SO cheese and naive (it could have been a good drama, but it's not, because of trashy dialogs and cheep storyline) 5) I got bored in the middle of the movie. 6) If you make a remake, you risk with everyone going to compare it with the original, and in this case the Carpenters movie is so much better!

So, it ain't a horror movie and it' ain't a drama! You can't even call it a thriller! Just a week film, Zombie made, 'cause we all know he loves horror classics (just as much as we all do)! House Of 1000 Corpses was really great (allthough it's much of TCM concept used in it), still it's amazingly fresh and creepy! Halloween was not! Sorry, Rob~ 3 out of 10!

The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre
(1994)

Great movie! Recommend!
I just can't stop wondering, how you guys, who all consider yourself horror-fans, don't get the actual idea of this movie! TCM4 is brilliant! All the pseudo- seriousness, all the dumb dialogs, the plot that makes no sense (especialy the ending- a weird guy in a limo reading french right-wing parties newspaper and licking his victims, an elderly couple in a van drinking Pinacolada and an airplane coming out from nowhere...)~ it's SO surreal~ it's good! I agree, if this would have been an average movie it might be considered as bad, but this one- isn't about that! And just listen to the Hungarian violin music at the end, when the credits are shown! Soooo f**n cool! Not to mention Matthew as a psycho with a leg moved by a remote control, and Leatherface dressing himself as a transvestite and listening to Nazi marches.. This is the way it was meant to be~ bizarre and annoyingly bad! Enjoy it! It's not the best bad movie I've seen, but just because almost everyone else here thinks it's so bad, I'll go for 10 out of 10!
