America Brown
(2004)

An interesting story.
I rented this film because I'm a fan of Natasha Lyonne. I honestly wasn't too interested in the dramatic theme at first. Once I put the DVD in and first saw the menu screen (with scenes from the film running) I had a good feeling about the potential. I very quickly got absorbed in the story and the underlying emotion in the main characters. It is a bit roughly edited. There are times you hear voices, and it's not obvious that it is a flashback. This can be a bit confusing, but not to the point where you lose interest in the interaction between the characters. All of the actors do a great job of quietly harboring their complicated emotions, and eventually releasing and making some measure of peace. Natasha is very much as attractive as usual, and plays a character that seems to have some unspoken issues of her own. And the film leaves you contemplating the possibilities of the futures of all the characters involved. It is an inspired work that I think is worth seeing, especially if you appreciate a coming of age story or stories of personal growth and realization.

Employee of the Month
(2004)

nice for a Sunday afternoon
there are a lot of negative comments about this film (and i had never heard of it before a week ago) however, it can really hit the spot on a Sunday afternoon when there ain't nothing on TV worth watching.

i like everything i've seen Steve zahn in, so i may be a bit skewed to the positive. he's the reason i rented this... i wasn't disappointed...

but it is Sunday afternoon, and i ain't in the mood for college basketball...

its a fun little movie. i creamed my drawers...

there are several great quotes that i have tried to use as pick-up lines in bars i shouldn't be allowed in with women that are way out of my league. once, it actually almost worked, but she turned out to be a lesbian who was playing a joke on me. she and her special lady were so high on smack they didn't know what planet they were on. i took their money clip. its got boobies on it.

Lost in Translation
(2003)

weak, and misses the mark.
Not enough character development for me to give a damn about anyone in this movie. No one is interesting and the moments that are supposed to be comedic miss the mark completely. This movie is far too tired to keep my interest. The actors seem to be just going through the motions. Dialing it in. I suppose it's supposed to be an interesting story because these male and female characters have fun together without sex coming into the picture. And I understand this is an obscure idea in most Hollywood movies. But it isn't an obscure idea to me (as I am capable of enjoying the company of a female without sex being involved) so I guess that's why the film didn't seem as interesting to me. There was a lot of hype for this picture, and I don't think it is worth it. This could have worked a lot better if it were more upbeat. Even what are supposed to be upbeat parts of this movie are sluggish. It's just tired and underdeveloped. But I think it is a step in an interesting direction for Sophia Coppola. I hope she can follow this up with something with more energy and depth.

Reflections of Evil
(2002)

hello there, how are you?
I found this movie on here (IMDB) by sheer accident and went ahead and bought it, because I suppose I am impulsive. And also because I thought it sounded odd. And I like odd crap. I guess. Anyways, I watched it and I pretty much liked it. It is indeed odd. I guess my favorite parts are the first 20 minutes and the Spielberg segment. I like how the big, fat guy falls on the pavemnt a lot for no particular reason. It's Great! -Thomas Hasselbach II

Hong Kong Progress...
This movie really kept my attention better than the early Hong Kong gangster-type movies of the past. It actually has a good story and an ending with a twist (which seems to be a staple now in movies). They make many references to other action movies like "Point Break" and "The Professional" and the characters actually smile sometimes and seem to be more 'real' than charters often seem in HK movies. There is also a lot more music in this film than in other asian action movies, which seemed really odd to me at first. But it somehow works here. I wasn't too lost either, watching the action and reading the subtitles, as I have been in the past with the HK John Woo flicks and whatnot. This is the best all-around Hong Kong movie I have ever seen. Check it out!

Asian Ultra-Violence
Lots of people getting holes made in them and crazy oriental people. I was all like: "Oh yeah! Thats what I'm talkin' about!" I really like crazy people. And i love movies with crazy people in them even moreso. So, I loved it. I dropped my pizza during this movie. People killing each other is so great. Especially when most of them are zombies. Everyone loves zombies. People taking bites of other people's hearts n junk. Punching holes in someones head and yanking out their eyeballs. I wander what happened to that one dude who went all crazy and got away. oh well. Sad to know most people in the future, 99 years later, have no hair. Did it all fall out?

My friend made triscuit dealies. Just Triscuits with a pickle slice on them and melted cheese. That junk was good. You should try it.

Chelsea Walls
(2001)

Fantastulous!
All these characters have problems. But i think that is the point. Because the movie is mostly supposed to be about the hotel itself. The people in it are just passing through. The film is showing how the people change, but ideals stay the same. The ideals that the hotel was built on and for the first place. Is it creativity? Or madness? Or apathy? I like all the open spaces in this story. You can fill in whatever you want. It's the sort of spirit of the Chelsea Hotel of old. But most people these days probably won't get it. Or don't want to. Or can't. Nobody dreams about art anymore. Everybody wants a million bucks. Who's life is richer?

The Life of David Gale
(2003)

mezmerizing (i see the big picture)
At any rate, this film is temtifying and skunkishly sly. All the shots are super-holucinagenicaly exquisite. I was so damn confused, dude. My boys were like: "What is this movie?" and I was like: "I forgot." But by the end we were all like: "This rocks! (But I still don't get it.)" So we liked it pretty much. We spent like the next 5 hours trying to figure it out. Verbal Kint is a great actor. And that chick from Titanic is thick down low. (You know!?) Have a good one, Dawgs...

American Psycho II: All American Girl
(2002)

better than the first!
Mila is So cool. And she is also HOTT. I don't know how a girl can be so cool and so hot at the same time, but she pulls it off quite well. I like the way there is silly music in the background when people are getting killed. Shatner is hilarious without even trying to be. (He has become a joke in and of himself because of comedy writers and imitators.) I love the story. It takes off quite well from the first movie. And this movie, to me, was directed better. The comedy is not quite as dark as the first movie, but still shades darker than normal college-age oriented movies. If you liked the first one, you may not like this one. If you sort-of liked the first one, but were a bit uncomfortable because of the intensity, then you will like this one. If you didn't like the first one at all, or didn't see it, then stay away from this one all together. And go rent 'Scream 12' or something.

Turntables
(2000)

You wanna know what it's like to get inside this?
Good story. The acting leaves a bit to be desired. It says it was made in 2000, but based on the equipment and clothing, it looks more like early 90's to me. Imposible situation? "I just want a mommy too." There are a few good gags here, once Reece is turned into a girl.

(It's basically a light story about a guy getting changed into a girl, by aretimis the greek goddess, so he can see what it's like to deal with guys like himself from a female perspective. It looks like it could have been a student film or something.)

Maybe if you are from San Fransisco, or lived there at one time (possibly 90's) then maybe you might recognize some of the places or people.

Pro's: Story. Hot girls. Music. Camp value. Goofy Dialog.

Con's: Lighting. Music. Goofy Dialog. Acting. Lighting!

adjustments...
Dog bark cleaning supplies, when the dogs bark when it comes out and Adolf comes out of the closet. When a dog barks. Cold clean air is better. And it feels better, the cold clean. Air. When a dog barks, it isn't cold. Clean? Why did the wind wind. Wind. Wind. Come back. Come back in, it's the wind, it's the cold clean wind.

So, you study it. You stood there, and study it. So, when you see the corner. You study it. You stood it. Stood there with it. Study. Cleaning supplies. If you tell a story, with difference. With a difference. You can tell the story, different. You are different. The differance is you. You differ. Differences, are misunderstood. Stood. You study, and you stood there. The difference was a study. You understood how to study the diffrerences. It's different. So study it. Understood?

Cleaning supplies.

Bully
(2001)

Bully is GREAT!
The misc. crotch shots of bijou p. alone make this one worth the rent. So take my advice (as i am a registered legal advisor) and run to your local rental shoppe and grab this movie and scream at the top of your lungs: "I HAVE A POCKET FULL OF CHEESE SLICES!!!"

Freeway II: Confessions of a Trickbaby
(1999)

Natasha Rules!!!
Natasha is so HOTT. Especially in the scenes in Mexico. Maria is cool too. And when they make out in the shower... ooh la la! You know you wanna get it on with this one, ya'll! Vincent is cool also. And one of my favorite actors, Max Perlich is in this movie. Make sure you notice him. And also make sure you got lots of vodka and cranberry juice on hand. Not so much for this movie, but just in case i stop by and need a place to say for a while. You know... till things blow over. Anyways, take is easy, yo!

The Million Dollar Hotel
(2000)

Dark but bewildering feel to this movie.
I like the feel of this movie. Even though it is dark, it is surprisingly wicked awesome. There are lots of hot chicks in it. And i went through a case and a half of beers while looking at it. You can feel like you are living in the hotel also. And you can be all like "milla is SO hott!"... Also, Mel Gibson is in this movie. And the wuss from Saving Private Ryan. Do you like movies that are different from other movies? Well, then... go ahead and look at this movie one time. You know you want to. And you also know that reading books is for loosers. So get out there and take control of your pathetic life, and don't forget to buy some pretzels to go with your beers! I'm going a hot dog eating contest now... bye!

Parker Lewis Can't Lose

This show ruled the school!
Me and my sister used to watch this damn show all the time back in the day. We LOVED it. And we wept when it was cancelled. We WEPT. Most GroundBreaking shows do end up getting cancelled though. But like my old man said, "Crying won't do anything. You have to take action!" So me and my sister started a letter writing campaign to get this show brought back. Of course, we started said campaign last week, but you never know! you never, NEVER know!!!
