Lost
(2004)

There's a difference between annoying an audience or intriguing an audience
The first time I watched "Lost", I thought "Wow, this show has great potential". The show was filled with many actors, all of which can act, a great story, and a brilliant idea of showing one persons background each episode. Unfortunately, the show isn't as great as it could be.

The story starts off with a passenger airplane from Australia, on it's way to the United States crashes on a mysterious island somewhere in the Sout Pacific. The crash leaves 48 people alive, the main characters being; Jack, a doctor on his way home after his father died in Australia. Charlie, a member of a one-hit-wonder band with a drug addiction. Kate, a prisoner. Syiad, an Iraqi soldier. Sawyer, a man that steals and plays everyone on the island in order to benefit himself. And, of course, Locke. Locke is the most interesting character with many secrets. On the first couple of days on the island, they figure out that there's something else living on the island... A gigantic polar bear. Yes folks, polar bear in the middle of the South Pacific. If that wasn't hard enough to swallow, we have to believe that there were other people living on the island BEFORE the plan crashed, a crazy french women, and a hatch in the middle on the jungle buried in the ground.

All of that could be looked past if it was executed right. Unfortunately, it doesn't. What we're left with is cliffhanger endings every episode, each episode unveiling some new secret on the island, and more character development. I have yet to see one secret revealed on the show. Most of them have been forgotten altogether, and will probably never be answered. Instead of intriguing the audience by answering one question and bring in another, we are left with a million unanswered questions, which is just annoying. Eventually, people are going to catch on, and the sooner the better. Hopefully, the audience will slowly stop watching, which will force the writers to answer some of the questions. Until then, more questions are going to come, and no answers will be resolved. And if that isn't annoying enough, we have the idiots at ABC show an episode or two, then a 3 week break before a new episode comes.

I want this show to get better, but if no answers are resolved before the season finale, I will not tune in next season. I'll stick with "24" for now.

Behind the Red Door
(2003)

Sutherland's excellent acting saves an otherwise below-par film
"Behind The Red Door" is a film I picked up for two reasons: there was nothing else in, and Kiefer Sutherland, in my opinion, is the greatest under-rated actor today. The film starts off slowly, and doesn't really pick up. Natalie (Kyra Sedgwick) plays Kiefer's estranged sister. In fact, the two haven't seen each other in ten years. They are brought together due to Roy's (Kiefer Sutherland) sickness. The sickness isn't mentioned in the film, but because Roy is homosexual, we are brought to the conclusion that it is probably AIDS. Roy asks (or, rather demands) that Natalie be his nurse, as he does not want to die surrounded by strangers. To make things slightly more complicated, Natalie is starting to remember long-lost memories from her past about the death of her mother, and her abusive father, whom she believes killed her.

Fans of the adrenaline-pumped drama "24" will be amazed at the acting skills of Kiefer. In "24", he plays an Anti-Terrorist Agent with a short temper, but in "Behind The Red Door", he plays an obvious homosexual, and the performance is BELIEVABLE. There are some scenes that might bring a tear or two to your eye, the most notable being a close up of Roy when he starts to cry. "Behind The Red Door" wasn't the greatest film, the director wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, and the soundtrack sometimes didn't suit the mood of the film, but Kiefer's Oscar-worthy performance (if this film was directed by a well-known director, and was publicly well-known at the time of release, Kiefer would've been nominated) saves the film. You start to care about Roy, you feel that he's an actual person, and you feel deep sympathy for him. If you're going to pick this film up for anything, let it be Sutherland's performance. Otherwise, pick something else up.

Secret Window
(2004)

Not bad, but not memorable (Possible Spoilers)
Secret Window tells the story of troubled writer Mort, who encounters a stranger claiming that he "stole" his story. Mort, a little shaken-up after he reads the script from the southern stranger, and discovering that the story is 'almost' identical to his version that was published. The only difference was the ending... Secret Window starts off strong and ends with (*gasp*) a twist (but anybody with an I.Q. over 90 will likely guess the ending nearly 10 minutes before it is 'discovered', one of the movies faults). Johnny Depp does a respectable job as the troubled writer, and the acting is somewhat similar to that of Jack Sparrow from "Pirates of the Caribbean". The real outstanding acting award, though, goes to John Turturro. His acting is perfect, and is easy to see why Mort would be dead-scared. The film is nothing special, with some impressive editing work (camera's going into mirrors, ect. ect.) and some spooky music. But, the film was distributed as a horror film, while it's more of a thriller. So don't expect any "boo!" moments, the only creepy thing about the film is the stalking and the end when you find out that Mort has some mental issues... Drop by your local video store and pick it up. It boasts good acting, editing and writing. Overall, not a bad thriller movie running at just the right length (approximately 95-100 minutes). 7*'s/10*'s.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
(2002)

They Took The Worst Book In The Series And Made It Into One Of The Greatest Films Of All-Time
Great movie. Not as good as the first, but still really good. I was surprised that it didn't win Best Picture. The Book is really boring and dark, but they changed alot in this film to make it watchable. The Battle for Helms Deep is only 15 pages in the novel, but is the center part in the movie. Watch it

Johnny English
(2003)

The Austin Powers franchise is better
Johnny English isn't a great comedy, but it's not a bad one either. Since my theater doesn't charge much to watch movies ($6.00), I didn't fell like I wasted my money. However, if I spent $10.00 to watch this movie, I would have felt cheated.

Johnny English isn't a fall on your back rolling around laughing your head off movie, it generates chuckles, and that's about it. Wait for the DVD instead. 5*'s/10*'s.

Blood Work
(2002)

Boring, Predictable, Lame and Slow Moving
I thought that BLOOD WORK was a bad movie. It started off with

great potential, but the last half of the film is so boring and slow

moving that I was actually thinking of stopping it. I love Clint Eastwood, but I think that he has just ran out of steam

(those scenes when he took of his shirt made me cringe a little

bit). The acting is good, however. Clint Eastwood and Jeff Daniels

are good actor's, but they didn't play good partners. The rest of the

cast isn't bad either. Probably the only actor who I wanted to see

more of was Paul Rodriguez, who's funny and great with one liners

(something that was once awarded to Clint Eastwood in his past

films, but not his present). The story's just so predictable as well. I new who the killer was

from the first half hour of the film, and I new how it was going to

end. Overall though, I don't recommend this movie to anybody. I

thought it was boring, stupid and lame. They didn't even introduce

the character of Buddy properly, they did it like he wasn't important

to the story. Not bad for a 72 year old actor/director, but not great

either. I'll give Clint some slack though, since it is a better movie

than SPACE COWBOYS. 5*'s/10*'s.

Gladiator
(2000)

An Amazing Masterpiece!
Gladiator is one of my most favorite movies of all time. You can't

help but sit back and go 'wow'. I purchased this movie along with

Shrek, Moulin Rouge, Tomb Raider, Braveheart, and Black Hawk

Down. Gladiator is deffinatley better than Braveheart, but I can't

seem to see if this movie is better than Black Hawk Down,

probably is. Everything is great in this movie. Acting, directing, editing, music,

and of course, story. It starts beautifully and ends beautifully. The

action sequences get your adreneline running and the ending

almost made me fight back tears. Something movies don't usually

do to me. Take my advice and watch this movie, it's one of my

favorites. 10*'s/10*'s.

Spider-Man
(2002)

Nothing Great... Kind of Dissapointing...
I was looking foreward to seeing "Spider-Man". All of the great

reviews, being on the IMDb top 250, and, last but not least, making

over 800 million dollars worldwide. I just watched it, and I don't see

what all of the fuss is about. Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate it. I was just expecting something

"great'' and ''amazing'', but nothing in this movie made me say

"wow". Acting is solid, yet not oscar worthy. Story is okay, yet predictable,

but special effects are actually pretty good, but there not the best.

You could tell when spider-man was swinging from building to

building that it was computer generated. The thing that kind of makes me angery is that a movie like this,

totally predictable, not surprising, and nothing oscar worthy what

so ever, gets on the IMDb top 250 movie-list, and an amazing

movie like Black Hawk Down (2001) with great acting, great story,

great directing, great editing, great sound and a story that actually

tells us something, doesn't even get on the top 250 list.

Rent the DVD and watch the special features. My rating: 6*'s/10*'s. I gave it so much because i liked the acting

and directing.

We Were Soldiers
(2002)

Entertaining
We Were Soldiers wasn't a bad movie. I actually enjoyed most of it.

But it comes in third for my most favorite war movies (#1: Black

Hawk Down, #2: Saving Private Ryan). I don't know why, but I didn't

enjoy it as much a my other favorites. Maybe it's because it's just

another war movie. Black Hawk Down and Saving Private Ryan

had a huge impact on me, those movies did something no other

movie has done before, and when they came out with this, it just

didn't have the same impact like the first ones did.

Acting overall is good, story is good and the fight scenes are great,

I wouldn't be surprised if this won a Oscar® or two. Go and see

this movie, but if you haven't seen Black Hawk Down or Saving

Private Ryan yet, see those first. 8*'s/10*'s.

The Mothman Prophecies
(2002)

The Greatest Suspense Sinse Jacob's Ladder!
The Mothman Proficies was a great movie. Even though I like it

better when all of the questions are answered at the end of the

movie (this one didn't), I still enjoyed it. Solid acting, good and

interesting story and real creepy music. Mothman has all of these.

A great movie to watch, watch it on a stormy light with the lights out.

My vote: 8*'s out of 10*'s.

Windtalkers
(2002)

A Good ACTION Film
Notice I said that it was a good action film and said nothing about

it being a good war film? That's because it isn't. I didn't like it as a

war film because, well, it's impossible. I read a review on imdb a

few months ago saying that almost every bullet that left Ender's

gun always hit the target, and it's true. In almost every battle scene

there was always something that made me go ya, right. Some of

the stuff's just unbelieveable. There is one thing I liked though, and that was the acting and

character development. But that's all. The only reason I watch this

"war movie" was because it was a "war movie". Finally, Hollywood

is coming out with good ones, such as Saving Private Ryan, Black

Hawk Down, and Hart's War. But this isn't one of them. I think this

movie will sit on my bookcase, hardely ever getting watched along

with Pearl Harbor. 6*'s/10*'s.

Road to Perdition
(2002)

Wow, An Amazing Movie
Wow is the only word I can explain how great this movie is. It has

everything, comedy, action, drama and even a little bit of romance.I

love this movie, I recomend this movie to everyone. I loved it, I just

walked out from the theatre and I'm still amazed. My favorite movie

before this was Black Hawk Down (2001), but this movie I think is

abetter movie. 10*'s/10*'s.

The Scorpion King
(2002)

Pretty Stupid
The Scorpion King was one of the worst prequels out there, acting

is terrible, story is boring and the fight scenes are over-done. I was

dissapointed, The Mummy and The Mummy Returns were great

movies that had great acting, and an interesting story. But it also

had that Indiana Jones feel to it, nothing lie that is present here

(exept maybe when "The Rock" uses a rolling gong as a shield

from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom).

One thing that made me laugh was the movies soundtrack, come

on, heavy metal music only made the movie even MORE unbearable to watch.

5*'s/10*'s

The Count of Monte Cristo
(2002)

Not Bad, But Not Great
The Count Of Monte Cristo wasn't bad. It's not the greatest movie

I've seen, but it's enjoyable to sit through. The acting is pretty good,

and the story moves along quite nicely. If your one of those guys who likes sword-fighting movies, then you

might be dissapointed. I myself am a guy that likes to watch sword

fights, but for some reason, the fighting didn't get my adrenaline

running like in Star Wars: Episode 1- The Phantom Menace.

Overall, an enjoyable flick, but not one that I will watch again.

6*'s/10*'s.

Black Hawk Down
(2001)

One Of My Favorite Movies Of All Time
Black Hawk Down is one of my most favorite movies. Unlike most

americian war movies (The Thin Red Line, Hart's War and Pearl

Harbor come quickly to my mind), there's no flag waving and

saying that there so great. I loved this movie for that reason, but I

also loved it because it shows us how horrible war is and what it

does to people, something any war movie has done to me before

(except Saving Private Ryan, but this movie's better). I heard from other people that saw it that said that it was to violent

and that it was to intense. Well, this movie is really violent and it

isn't for people who don't like the sight of blood, but it's also

intense, but I liked it that way, because I haven't seen any other

movie like it. Overall, this was an amazing movie. I think that anybody who liked

Saving Private Ryan will love this like I did. 10*'s/10*'s.

Crossroads
(2002)

Thank God for the STOP Button
Holy crap was this ever a crapy movie. I ended up pushing the STOP button 5 or 6 times. Acting and story we're just horrible in this movie, I mean, come on!! Britney Spears was supposed to be a brainiac and geek in this movie (how could the producers think that people would fall for that)? Britney Spears being smart and getting picked on at school is unbelievable enough, but NO they had to throw in a almost sex scene with a nerd, which would NEVER happened, a girl with that good looks would get alot better. The thing I was most dissapointed in was Dan Aykroyd being in this movie, how could a great actor go that low??? Don't even bother picking up the video box in the movie store, YOUR WASTING YOUR TIME.

Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire
(1996)

One Of My Favorite Games Of All Time (N64 Version)
I loved this game. It's on my list of my most favorite games (GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, WinBack: Covert Operations and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron). Everything i this game is great, graphics, sound, music and especially gameplay. You could tell as you play the levels that so much work, care and love went into making this game. This game has my most favorite levels to date. Unlike GoldenEye or Perfect Dark, when you can beat some of the levels in under 5 minutes, Shadows Of The Empire has levels that take 20, 30, sometimes 40 minutes to complete. Take my advice and rent this game, and have the most fun you'll have for a long time.

The Time Machine
(2002)

One Of The Best Movies In Years
After reading reviews, I wasn't looking foreword to watching The Time Machine, but when I did, I was amazed. It's one of the best movies I've seen in years. Today, movies are all action and comedy, but this movie is finally something different. Everything was great in this movie, the story was great, the music went with it really well, the acting was pretty good and the special effects were just amazing. When he goes into the future, the landscapes are just breathtaking. This movie was a great movie and I recommend it to people who like science-fiction, action and fantasy. 9*'s/10*'s

The World Is Not Enough
(2000)

A BIG Dissapiontment
When I first heared that there was going to be The World is not Enough video game for the Nintendo 64, I was so excited. When it finally came out, I was one of the first ones to rent it. I rented it for 7 days, and I got through the whole game!!! The game was to easy and gave out too much hints. A majour dissapointing sequel to GoldenEye. Take my advice and DO NOT RENT THIS GAME.

Sure the guns and gadgets are cool, but one gets tired of a watch lazer that looks like it was taken right from GoldenEye with the exception of being a red color instead of a blue color, a poor excuse for a dart gun, horrible stunner and a stupid grapple hook that can only attach itself to things that are yellow and black.

I think that RARE should of made this game instead of EA who should stick to games there good at making, like sport games and should stear clear of first person shooters and let the masters do the work.
