Paradise Highway
(2022)

A bit slow, but...
... manages to keep your attention most all of the time. The story is about trafficking young girls in the Deep South, and the police don't seem to want be on the ball - except for 85 year old Morgan Freeman who is always a pleasure to watch.

Native Son
(1951)

A little big film......
... is Native Son.

Filmed in Argentina with local native actors who are dubbed by Americans for obvious 1950s reasons in the USA about Blacks. Interesting story but acting leaves a lot to be desired.

Rise
(2022)

Inspiring. . .
. . . and pretty straightforward bio of the Greek Freak from his childhood in Greece through his being admitted to the NBA Milwaukee Bucks. Although I am not a keen sports fan, I enjoyed watching RISE.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent
(2022)

It's a Crowd pleaser, ...
... it definitely is ! That's The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent ! Nicolas Cage plays Nicolas Cage the actor.

There's fun action galore to please one and all.

Accused of Murder
(1956)

Watchable....
...for sure, but forgettable. Pretty good who done it yarn, though Vera Ralston is pretty bad. Enjoy seeing several actors you've seen before but may not remember their names.

The Batman
(2022)

It's not a superhero movie and . . .
Neither a Batman film. At least not what I expected it to be, and thankfully so! Robert Pattinson is convincing as Bruce Wayne,, John Torturo is superb in his role and Colin Farrell is unrecognizable as Oz.

The Batman is entertaining spectacle despite its nearly three hours length.

Anatomy of a Scandal
(2022)

A forced 6 out of 10. . .
Anatomy of a Scandal has good performances and good dialogue, but each episode's ending leaves you hanging.- not unusual in tv drama series. All 6 episodes could have been condensed into a more acceptable 2-hour TV movie. The ending is ludicrous, but overall this mini series is watchable.

Ambulance
(2022)

Non Stop Action ...
...for over 2 hours. It's a roller coaster ride with Bullets, car chases and crashes galore. Pretty good entertainment if you can stand non stop dizzying action.

K-PAX
(2001)

Remarkably beautiful tale. . .
. . . superbly acted by Kevin Spacey as Prot from planet K-pax and Jeff Bridges as Dr. Mark Powell Is Prot really from planet K-pax? That what Dr. Powell tries to find out.

P. S. It's not science fiction; it's a beautiful drama!

Johnny Eager
(1941)

One of the best Film Noir
Indeed, Johnny Eager is one of the best film noir of the 1940s. Excellent plot keeps you on edge throughout the film.

Lana Turner is beautiful, Van Heflin rightfully won an Oscar for his role but difficult to accept Robert Taylor as the bad guy.

All the Old Knives
(2022)

A 5 at most ...
Much too many flashbacks make the film confusing to follow. Otherwise All the Old Knives may have been more appealing to the viewer if telling the story straight forward.

Green Book
(2018)

One of the best in a long time !
No adjective is emphatic enough to express my feelings on this superb film. It's about friendship between an educated black man and a streetwise man white man. Good music is a bonus.

Captains of the Clouds
(1942)

It's still entertaining...
... despite the film's age. Slow starting but beautiful sceneries, then vavavoom and the action starts. Lovely technicolor that enhances the film. Splendid aerial action.with early WWII planes.

They Who Dare
(1954)

Solid WWII film . . .
. . . as only the Brits can make. Filmed on location on the island of Rhodes, as well as in Cyprus. Splendid performances by Dirk Bogarde, Denholm Elliott and as always by Akim Tamiroff.

The Adam Project
(2022)

Silliness at best
I will always watch films starring my favorite actors, and Ryan Reynolds is one of them, but what a disappointment was The Adam Project. It's silliness at best.

The Secret Life of Words
(2005)

Powerful, but . . .
. . . slow moving film, yet it kept my interest throughout. Stellar performances by all, including secondary roles. Julie. Christie has a minor but important role, but I hardly recognized her. A powerful film for the strong.

CODA
(2021)

A beautiful . . .
. . . and heartwarming film in a very long time. Stellar performances by all five actors, more especially by Troy Kotsur.

Out of the 10 best picture 2022 nominations, my selection is CODA.

Licorice Pizza
(2021)

Only a 5
I rate films almost exclusively on their entertainment value, and thus gave it a 5. The film has however been nominated for a best picture Oscar, soooooo . . .

Mr. Brooks
(2007)

More than 6/10 IF.....
... another ending. It's a good film that kept me interested throughout, except for the disappointing ending. The ending suggests that Mr Brooks Will continue his killings, possibly in a sequel that never came to be.

The In Between
(2022)

Sweet...
...love story with after-life suggestions, but insufficient suggestions. The film could, or should, have beeen shorter by at least 15 minutes. Watchable and soon forgettable.

Blonde Ice
(1948)

A little Gem . . .
. . . is none other than Blonde Ice. Cheaply made with relatively unknown actors, shot mostly indoors. Les.lie Brooks is quite appealing in her role. Blonde Ice is a good film noir.

Marry Me
(2022)

Pretty good overall
Marry Me is an improbable story, but pretty good to watch enjoyably. Good music plus simply good acting by Owen Wilson keeps you watching pleasantly, and Jennifer Lopez does what she does best. Marry Me is well worth a watch.

Miss Willoughby and the Haunted Bookshop
(2021)

Not spooky, but . . .
. . . unveils in to a who-done-it mystery. Kelsey Grammer is as always excellent in his role. My personal mystery of this film is why Nathalie Cox's character has no love interest.

Bend of the River
(1952)

Easy viewing.....
....for this solid Western. Good story, great scenery and just enough action enough action to keep interested throughout. Rock Hudson has a third role that he pulls through. And as always, James Stewart gives a sterling performance.

Nightmare Alley
(2021)

2021 or 1947 ?
The 2021 Nightmare Alley is a very good film, and will be especially enjoyed by all those that haven't seen the 1947 movie of the same title. Bradley Cooper gives a sterling performance, as does the rest of the cast. But do also watch the original B&W 1947 with Tyrone Power.
