Unnecessary remake, but still really good The danish original is damn good, but this is a really good remake. I kinda feel that this movie gets way more hassle than it deserves. I too feel that the US has a way too big need to remake movies in a foreign language, and this is definitely one of those cases. However if it gets americans to watch a movie with a script this good it might be worth it. The original in this case is a masterpiece, and I would really wish that it got a bigger audience, cause it is a really good script.
Both the original and this are highly intense an minimalistic scripts (the original even more than this) that deserve an audience, and I really feel that audiences don't get what a huge feat it is do deliver so much emotion and drama all alone in a room without real interaction with other actors. Both Jake Gyllenhaal in this and Jacob Cedergren in the original delivers incredible performances all alone in a room.
If you are to only watch one, watch the original, but both are damn good movies worth your time.
