Although it was somewhat overshadowed by An American in Paris in it's time, it is now justifiably considered one of the best Hollywood musicals ever made. It's my favorite musical, Gene Kelly film, and one of my favorite MOVIES.

Kelly was without a doubt at the peak of his amazing career as an actor, director, choreographer, and above all dancer. Each scene is dripping with bright, vibrant colors and plenty of laughs. Kelly's class and charm just exudes from the screen.What makes the film so extraordinary is the way each song and dance number flow effortlessly and are perfectly intergrated into the story. These numbers not only showcase the amazing ability of Kelly, Donald O'Connor, and even Debbie Reynolds, but also the exuberance of that happy and carefree feeling of the 1920's.

Some of the standout numbers are of course the title dance through the rain, and Broadway Melody, but also the hilarious "Make Em Laugh" where O'Connor displays his talent of blending humor and acrebatic movements, and "Good Morning" where Reynolds holds her own between the 2 greatest dancers of the time.

This film is an American classic and an absolute must see. It's the perfect movie to watch if you want to laugh, smile, or just simply watch something that leaves you with a good feeling. I know I am always left with a glorious feeling in my heart.

If you want to Esther Williams in one of her better roles check this one out. While she still has two very nice water ballet sequences, the best parts of the movie involve the funny antics of its players. The cast is very good especially Williams and Van Johnson who have a great chemistry. It's no wonder they made 3 other movies together. Johnson is absolutely charming and Williams shows that she can do more than just swim. She definately holds her own.

Of course it is pretty easy to perdict what will happen, but it's still a lot of fun. It will definately puts a smile on the face. It's also very neat to see a very young Mel Torme as a messenger.

Esther Williams fans will love this extremely enjoyable film. Williams plays a hollywood star engaged to her handsome co-star (Montalban) who are making a movie of their own. On set is the lovesick technical advisor (Lawford) who has been in love with her ever since they first met. Only problem is she can't remember him. So he takes her to an island to make she she does, and well you get the picture.

Williams and Lawford are wonderful together and matching them are Ricardo Montalban and Cyd Charisse especially during their beautiful dance numbers. They toss in Jimmy Durante for guarenteed laughs to make the cast even better.Its vibrant colors and very attracive stars make it lovely to look at, but the story is very sweet too. If you love happy and romantic musicals you'll love this one. And of course we get to see Esther doing what she does best in the very nice water sequences.

Side Note: Who wouldn't want to be on an island with Peter Lawford.
