Call of Duty: Black Ops
(2010)

Good fun
Honestly, it's a lot of fun. Being a real nit-picker for military accuracy, there are tons of things that really erk'ed me. The boys at Treyarch did a lousy job with historical accuracy when it comes to weapons. I won't even get into it there were so damn many, it almost stopped me from playing the game. But I Soldiered on... Fortunately the story is very well done and the game play itself was intense. The decision to include zombies warmed my heart as zombie-hunting is now becoming a favorite American past-time. Good surprises were provided by a number of unexpected Hollywood performances. Sam Worthington does the main player justice. Ice Cube does well in Military roles. Gary Oldman can't go wrong. Ed Harris delivers with a vengeance and ironically I couldn't help but make the connection how you and Hudson AKA Ed Harris assault the underwater rig paying a homage to James Cameron's "The Abyss". After watching the lousy director's cut that turned an awesome movie into a horrible hippie-loving alien hugging fest, I was delighted to destroy the underwater set up with Ed Harris providing commentary. It's like your creating a better ending for the movie. Now that I've told you how I really feel about that movie, back to Black Ops. The Vietnam levels were very well done and fighting Soviets never gets old. The fact that flashbacks advance the story line gives us an excuse to jump multiple timelines all the way back to the end of WWII. I think the game designers are on to something. It's best to utilize ALL your timelines. When Call of Duty Modern Warfare III comes out, I hope they continue this and pay visits through all the series timelines. Notes for the gamers: -Seriously know your history, especially weapons. Optics, gadgets and what-have-yous only proliferated in the 1990's. You were lucky to have a scope and definitely no 'rail' systems. -Zombies: Don't stop putting zombies. In fact, put more zombie levels and please give us a mall to run around in. We have faith that you can deliver us a better "Dead Rising" Call of Duty Style. -Actor cameos: Nice treat. Good laughs. Keep em going. -A pre-mission load out would be nice. Gamers have weapon's preferences and should be able to pick up weapons and add on accessories and paint schemes to the default weapon you start each level with. A little 'intel' prior to the mission will allow gamers to choose their load outs prior to the mission. The exception is for a 'escape and evade' scenario where you have to liberate your own weapons. Also, each country has 'standard' weapons. A Russian Infantryman will not be using anything but an AK-series weapon. Definitely NOT a Tavor like in MW2. US Troops will only use M16-series weapons. The Famas is used by the French. Yep that's it. Anyone else carrying something outside their country of origin is Private security or militia.

Overall great gaming experience. Just please, Treyarch, learn from the mistakes but keep doing what works. 8/10 Stars.

Halo 2
(2004)

HALO movie
I am afraid to see a HALO movie after such atrocities like Wing Commander and Mortal Kombat. Someone mentioned the director of AVP and Resident Evil in their own fears, and I agree 100%. That director needs to be cut in half with a Covenant Energy sword. I don't believe that James Cameron or Ridley Scott would pick up the project, but it would be a good choice with either, or even Spielberg. But they just won't do it (cause they're chicken!) J/K. What I am really afriad of is them rewriting the story or game play, kinda the way Wing Commander combined story arcs and elements from all the Wing Commander games into one catastrophe, totally negating the games. We need a movie that complements the game play, so it feels like you are completing the story line by playing the game. The best thing they can do is make a movie about the Fall of Reach, leading into the first HALO game. Thatway we can see the beginning of the Spartans, the itroduction of the Covenant and lead into the games themselves. This would be a safe course so as not to contradict the games and it can be a challenge for the writers and directors to pull off.

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
(2002)

Fan Film
George Lucas has finally done it. He has made a movie for the fans. This ranks as high as my favorite Empire Strikes Back in someways better. I love the themes, the music the plot. A very eree parallel to the same series of events and similar circumstances Luke went through however Anakin is having it a lot worse than Luke did in my opinion. This new kid Hayden Christensen was perfect for Anakin. He played a very convincing person I could forsee becoming Darth Vader. He better be in Episode 3. And Natalie Portman, she gets more and more beautiful in every movie. Ewan McGregor is the best Obi Wan Kenobi. I hope that the actor playing Jango returns as Boba Fett (with some growth acceleration) for Episode 3. This movie was such an excellent parallel to Empire Strikes Back. Episode 1 paralleled A New Hope, kind of their own establishing movies that weren't that in depth. You know they are going to parallel Episode 3 with Return of the Jedi, I forsee Anakin fighting and slaying Dooku taking his place at Palpatine's side.

Nice Job George! This film was fantastic. I hope he keeps the momentum and story ties in Episode 3, they have alot of story to cover. A+

Wing Commander
(1999)

Chris, you let Hollywood suck you in. Tisk tisk.
You know, I would be just as content if they took the film used for the games, reditted it and added modern special effects and released it into theaters. Hell I liked Mark Hamil as Blair better than Skywalker. He was cool and support from Maniac played by Tom Wilson (Biff Back to the Future) you can't beat that. I was so thrilled to see the movie coming out, accepting that it is the original story from the first game so Blair would be young enough to be played by someone like Freddie Prinz Jr. I was horrified to the inaccuracies of the movie. First off, Admiral Tolwyn?! NO! He was only Captain at the time and only made Admiral prior to Wing Commander III. And he was played by Malcom McDowell orginally. He was perfect for the role. Not to say David Warner is a bad actor, cause he is great, but no, you can't replace McDowell in that role. Keeping on Wing Commander III, the skipper missile was an experimental weapon used by the Kilrathi at the end of the war. It wasn't even a concept yet at the time Blair was a rookie. The cloaked "phantom fighters" that made their debut in Wing Commander II would still have been in development at the time of the movie, let alone well known skipper missiles for the first movie. Additionally, the Concordia was a new Confed Dreadnaught, brand new by Wing Commander II. Perhaps in service only a short while. She was old and dirty in the movie, and so was the Tiger Claw. Another thing, Paladin was played by John-Rys Davies in the game, and they picked some guy who just didn't measure up. And what is with the whole pilgrim thing? That wasn't in the game at all!? I heard someone else speak about the relationship between Blair and the senior officers on the Tiger Claw as being inaccurate. I am more in tune with the later Wing Commander Games, so I can't testiy to that. I gave one point because the kid that played Maniac in the movie I could see turning into Tom Wilson. But Freddie Jr. No, sorry. He is no Blair. I pretend this movie never happened. I will forgive Chris Roberts if he wants to make a new game or try again with the movie this time using original cast from the game. And I mean no substitutes. Call Hamil and Wilson, McDowell, Davies and everyone else.

That's my two cents. I did like the soundtrack.

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
(1991)

The summary of the entire experience of the original cast
One last adventure, the entire crew of the U.S.S Enterprise faces off to prevent a war paralleling very closely high points of tension during the Cold War between the United States and Soviet Union during the late 80's. Note even the Klingon Chanceller "Gorkon" played by David Warner even is reminiscent of "Gorbachev". I love The Wrath of Kahn but this one earns a extra few points from me.
