Silas
(1981)

Great series!
Saw this series in the early 80's when living in Holland aged 9, in original German with Dutch subtitles i guess or perhaps dubbed into Dutch. Must have been my all time favourite TV series as a kid as I still remember the haunting theme tune and that odd little number the main character plays on his flute. I remember it as being a little sad despite the IMDb write up saying it has a happy ending, so would like to see it again as an adult. Not sure if that will happen though as it seems to be one of those things that has gotten lost in the vaults under thick layers of dust.

As I said, I don't remember many plot details except that this series, more than any other viewed as a child, has remained with me.

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace
(1999)

Worth watching for the ending!!!
For those of you who hated Jar Jar Binks and wished for him to meet some gruesome end that would turn even Jabba The Hut's stomach, well, I seem to remember wishing exactly that on C3P0 when first seeing star wars. So if you kinda ignore Jar Jar, the movie is pretty darn good and I must say, the ending matched any Star Wars movie, which is more than I can say for 'Attack Of The Clones'.

Zardoz
(1974)

A must see for Sci Fi buffs!
A must see for any self respecting sci fi fan. Whether you like it or find it pretentious, you'll be glad you watched it.

Very much a 70's film, rich in interesting plot and psychedelia.

Intelligent Sci Fi.

Personally, I loved it :-)

Cradle of Fear
(2001)

For those of you who like a pinch of 'Kink' in your horror :-)
Remember that time in the 1980's when horror movies just chucked in their plots and became unbelievably gory and filled with 'Full Bodied' young ladies meeting a fate worse than a fate worse than death!!!!!!. In fact, many were banned in the UK due to our censorship laws and I had to wait for the summer holidays which I spent at a friends house in Holland, watching about five of the latest horror flicks a night. If you liked those movies, then this is right up your street! :-0)

It reminded me of the film 'Night Train', which had a similar plot.

Despite the content, you won't switch this movie off before the end!!!

Great viewing at three o clock in the morning with plenty of crisps etc.

Jeepers Creepers
(2001)

Refreshingly different!
After being bombarded with 'Scream' spin offs, 'Jeepers Creepers' was a refreshing Horror Flick to watch.

This is a great Indie film which uses suspense to great effect. It had me sitting on the edge of my chair, more so than the 'Blair Witch Project'.

A 'Must See!' if you are a fan of scary low budget horror and tired of the special effects mob.

The Man Who Wasn't There
(2001)

A work of art!
I really enjoyed 'Oh Brother' and so couldn't wait to see this film. I must say, this film suprised me. Its a sequence of beautiful film noir scenes with Billy Bob Thornton at the centre of them, perfectly cast for this filming style. He has the appearance of an expressionless marble statue, constantly smoking cigarettes, oblivious of his surroundings, the world drifting by him timelessly on all sides.

Despite the dark plot, this film has an uplifting feel.

If you like Cohen Brothers, Ken Russel, David Lynch movies or just generally offbeat movies, this is a MUST for you.

This Film will keep you hooked from start to finish! :-)

Resurrection Man
(1998)

A HAUNTING MOVIE!
If you didn't press stop on your video recorder five minutes into this film due to the shocking nature of some of the opening scenes, you will discover that this is a beautiful film which has more in common with 'Interview With The Vampire', 'The Company Of Wolves', 'Brighton Rock' and 'Frankenstein' than it does with a film about sectarian violence.

Despite the book on which this was based, sectarian violence just provides an underlying base to stage this tale of the vampire like 'Victor Kelly', a young Irishman with a thirst for blood, fame and self destruction.

Stuart Townsend epitomizes evil in the role of Victor, supported by many talented actors.

The evil staring eyes of Victor Kelly, will stay with you long after watching the film. Perhaps this is why Stuart Townsend has been cast in the latest Anne Rice adaption.

Hard Men
(1996)

GREAT FILM !!!
I watched this film expecting it to be bad. The title was off putting and I reluctantly let my friend hire it from the video shop.

I have to say, I loved it. For me, Hard Men isn't trying to be like a Tarantino film. It has a dreamlike quality and has the feel of a Sci Fi black comedy rather than a gangster film. The world in this film is definitely not this world.

If you liked Clockwork Orange, Gangster number one, Fight club, Resurrection man, or Twin town, then watch this because you'll either love it or hate it

Withnail & I
(1987)

THE DRIPPINGS OF A THOUSAND BUTTERED CRUMPETS !!!!!!!
'A coward you are Withnail, an expert on bulls you are not!!!'

This film is marvelous and can provide you with an array of great quotes to use down the pub!!!!!

Best comedy I have ever seen and I believe Spielberg is a huge fan, so not just for a UK audience :-)

Billy Liar
(1963)

A Movie Masterpiece!
This film is dedicated to every imaginative genius who never took the bull by the horns, and wondered the streets of their drab home town forevermore, telling those who will listen of what might have been. Sound familiar?

But do his surroundings get him down? Not a chance, for Billy's home country is 'Ambrosia', the fantasy world in which he is King, Prime Minister, one legged war hero and much more.

Julie Christie is great as Liz, the carefree beautiful girl that Billy knows is just like him, or is she?

This film is inspirational and full of great quotes, to please give it a try.

Look Back in Anger
(1959)

Timeless!
Whats he angry with? What have you got?

Much like an English version of 'Johnny' from 'The Wild One', Jimmy Porter is looking for a cause to fight in 1950's Britain, and unable to find one, becomes an armchair politician, exacting his rage and frustration on all around him.

Richard Burton was made for this role as the fire breathing, hilariously funny Jimmy Porter and I cannot hold back the tears at the end of this timeless classic.
