Aquarius
(2015)

Aquarius is great fun! Haters must chill!
I'm truly shocked at the haters who have jumped up here and shot down this program. I love it. I was born in 1967, the Summer of Love. The music is great. The acting is above par. Duchovny is Duchovny, not Fox Mulder. Get past that. Grey Damon is excellent. (Yeah, I see "The Following" comparison. Another great show.) Gethin Anthony totally channels Manson's body language. Look at Jason Ralph as Mike Vickery -- he steals the scenes he's in. And Gaius Charles as Bunchy Carter. There is brilliance in these supporting roles. The writers have written some incredibly witty dialogue. I've always been fascinated with Manson stories. This one is fresh. It's like the reverse side of the "Mad Men" coin. Don't miss it.

Bloodline
(2015)

If you watch the first episode, you'll have to watch them all!
I started watching "Bloodline" Saturday, the 21st. I absorbed 10 episodes that day, and I would have kept going, had it not been 1:00 in the morning. I'm finishing the season today.

I think it's brilliant. Every episode ends with a cliffhanger, which compels you to keep going! The cast is stellar! I love Ben Mendelsohn! Sissy Spacek is a treat, as always. Chloe Sevigny is amazing, as usual. Sam Shepherd is compelling. Linda Cardellini is terrific. Jacinda Barrett is refreshing. I don't know how this season will end (yet), but I'd LOVE to see it keep going as a "True Detective" type of series, with another family in another situation where they're "not bad people". It could be huge!

Bravo, Netflix!

There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane
(2011)

So disturbing, almost ruined my day
I've got to say that for the first 35 minutes of this documentary, I wanted to believe Daniel Schuler and Jay Schuler, mainly for the sake of Bryan. I am an aunt of five, and I love them all dearly. I could never hurt those children. So I presumed that Diane must have been misunderstood. I still admire Jay for working so hard. And I commend her honesty. My heart broke for the families of Guy Bastardi, Michael Bastardi, and Daniel Longo. But then I heard about the bottle of Absolute in the vehicle. And I held my breath. I spent the rest of the film puzzled by Diane's behavior. I was truly devastated when I finally accepted what seems to be the truth of the situation. Much respect for Dr. Harold Bursztajn, Steve Fishman, Betsy Spratt, Dr. Werner Spitz, and Dr. Carol Weiss for their expert contributions. And to Liz Garbus, for making such a compelling and powerful documentary. Much love and healing to the entire Hance family as well.
