What Happens Later
(2023)

Good romantic movie with twists and great actors
First of all, this movie differs from most of the other contemporary ones: it has a very difference pacing, a certain charm and it's magical in more than one ways.

The storytelling is good though it takes a longer time to realize what is happening and what world we are being invited in. To be fair: it's not a "comedy" we got used to lately and not even an excessive "drama". It's a story where two great actors are telling a story with more than one twists - with a bit of a fantasy all around.

Mostly David Duchovny carries it and he does and excellent job turning his character around. Meg Ryan delivers the "usual".

Watching "What Happens Later" a quaint feeling warmths the heart.

More movies like this should be around.

The Patient
(2022)

Brilliant Steve Carell. A series not to binge watch.
First of all: Steve Carell is in his very best form in this series. Amazing, subtle, real theater acting.

Well-written episodes, although the pacing sometimes feels slow but still right.

Luckily, it is without "Hollywood-cliches" and not a "Netflix-sludge" but a show to think of, and wait a week for the next part. Binge-watching would only take away from the depth.

Without any spoilers, there are several layers of this drama; and it does make the viewers think on their own lives as well.

The cameramen do a great job and it seems everything in the right place while watching.

Definitely not for the fainted heart and with popcorn at a romantic eve.

The special atmosphere is a great experience and makes it unique.

And once again: Steve Carell's acting is beautiful, on spot and amazing.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2
(2022)

Even Jim Carrey couldn't save it; a terrible trash
After waiting to get back to the theatres a whole year do we have any regret? No. Was it a good movie to watch? No. Even Jim Carrey couldn't save it.

Let's say it: this is for angry and lost pre-teens. We are almost getting a classic "Hulk" or "Spiderman" vibe (not the garbage lately, the original comic book).

Yes, Sonic, the graphic designed non-existent witty alien quasi-hedgehog is still a good choice, however, his (its?) forced "growing-up" issues are just too much pushed and didactic. The new companions, Knuckles and Tails are also somewhat dumbed down to human level movie-cliches (at one point I plainly expected Sylvester Stallone's Rambo/Rocky to unzip Knuckles and talk plainly to the camera, that much cliche...), but still the better parts of this mash.

Of course, the dumbed USA army's botched operations and incompetency unfortunately not even funny. Maybe, if this was the 1950s yes... - their "storyline" is as useless and needless as the forced aggressively ranting and destroying female character who would need immediate treatment in real life and intervention from CPS, not that not funny, does not add anything to the movie and mostly confuses and scares the kids. And no, that behaviour is not acceptable in any ways.

Jim Carrey's Dr Robotnik is how comedy (dark comedy and problematic human values or lack of) should be portrayed. Always. Most of the movie is his show, until the point when he is directed to turn into real evil. And that's when Sonic 2 completely loses its focus and becomes a generic, one of a dozen Marvel "movie" copy.

The feel-good family entertainment that Sonic (1) had is completely lost. It is only didactically repeated in Sonic 2. How great it would have been to show what it really takes to become an adoptive parent when own children can not come...

The strongest part of the movie from every aspect is a very short piece (no spoilers) when Dr Robotnik and Knuckles are in the maze. That less than 2 minutes shows how this could have been done all along. Or the opening sequence (yes, with Jim Carrey, yes, it's his show mostly).

This is a pg-13 (at least). Well, except if the family entertainment contains zombies, then it is for all ages...

The climax of Sonic 2 carries a great opportunity yet, it is botched as a GUN operation or as in with other "infinity stones" in other "movies".

So, it is still enjoyable, it does have some - completely fragmented - good pieces and scenes, however, ultimately it only shows too much and over the top is less and less at the very end.

And yes, if no Jim Carrey, it wouldn't be suggested at all. Except the last scenes, his acting that keeps this whole thing together. Which is nowhere near to the first part.

It seems the suits forgotten the actual audience...

Don't Look Up
(2021)

Finally a good movie. A really good movie.
This movie is destined for big screen. Among the rare gems these days with a story to tell, a mirror to show, a good script, a great director, a superb cast and the right balance of irony, sarcasm, humor and seriousness to feel the story in the guts.

Leonardo di Caprio is at his best and Jennifer Lawrence is also in the right place - and the supporting cast is awesome.

Just go and watch it, feel it, enjoy the ride and if you feel some bittersweetnes that's because the reality of the developed world is captured immaculately.

tick, tick...BOOM!
(2021)

Perfect.
A perfect acting by Andrew Garfield.

An immaculate direction by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

An interesting story - especially knowing the backround of the late Jonathan Larson.

This is how to translate theatre and musical into the small screen in an authentic way.

The songs and music are great and not overproduced.

The whole concept and production is smart and probably the best way to commemorate this late artist.

A movie made me fall love again with theatre again.

Zoey's Extraordinary Christmas
(2021)

A Christmas special turning into a real Zoey's episode
First of all, I do love the whole series and I sincerely hope it'll go on, hopefully as it used to be.

This Christmas closing/renewal/condensed season 3 has two halves: the first feels rushed, too quick and too overdone. The second one is like watching a totally different movie and basically that's what made me love the characters, the pace, the ideas. Depth, more grounded reality come to play.

It's just too many ideas packed into one, maybe because of the uncertainty of the show's future.

Luckily, the actors are still fantastic, Peter Gallagher is in his own league here.

So, being said, just bear with it, it gets to be a real Zoey's episode by the end and that worths everything.

And for the creators, producers: just keep this whole world open for all of us. It's a good escape.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife
(2021)

Great adventure, it's the "real" Ghostbusters and this actually works
First of all, this is a really good adventure movie. Jason Reitman directed it with a firm hand and clear vision and the young leads give a strong and sometimes captivating performance (of course, they are much older actors in real life but more or less it's ok).

When someone is familiar with the original movies and the first cartoon series the very same playfulness and fun can be found in this installment, too.

Yes, true, it's also a tribute to the late Harold Ramis and in the best possible way. His presence can be sensed in the whole movie - in several levels (go and see for yourself...:)

Probably the first act is the strongest of the whole with the totally original storyparts and obviously THAT part towards the end... (without spoiling anything: that is the way to show love and dedication to a friend).

Although it has a 2 hours length it doesn't feel boring, no useless scenes. To the contrary, especially the third act had too much left out (hoping in an extended version...)

Interestingly, the producers and writers could find a good balance to have jokes and -actual- drama in a good ratio and also this a movie with a little cynicism towards the state of the world, excluding itself and the whole series of events to a different location...

Will one find Dr Venkman's dry humorous bits? Well, only a bit - still the movie survives without them and that's good. It has a different pace and style from the '80s, yet, somehow, magically the vibe is still there and yes, it's a timetravel experience for adults and harmless fun for youngsters.

Anything else would unveil the events and surprises. It is worthy for the tickets with the children, most probably won't survive the small screen.

Polish your ECTO-1 and get into the cinemas while you can!

Eternals
(2021)

Finally a good Marvel movie - with a different approach
The Eternals is a good adventure movie with a different pacing, style and cinematography.

Interestingly, it does have way more gravity than previous dozen ones and a more interesting storyline that works with some pre-knowledge of legends.

Luckily, it is only sometimes cringeworthy and other than the first few minutes and some unnecessary jokes it is an enjoyable cinematic experience. Well, dialogues don't live up to the movie for sure, on the other hand, the whole concept (and the undeniable borrowing from the DC Universe) works just as the actors.

Even Angeline Jolie turned to be a good choice and Salma Hayek luckily wasn't too much. True, the lesser known actors are carrying the show instead of the leads but that's totally ok and enjoyable.

The Eternals has 4 major parts and the pacing makes the long running time easy to watch.

It is definitely not the common "Marvel movie" - that formula was exhausted long ago. If one pays attention everything makes sense - sometimes good to think of a story and put the puzzle together; being said it's not a mindless action orgy, although the action segments are well crafted.

The soundtrack is a good addition, not taking the attention away from what is important.

If not a few scenes, this could have been a great standalone sci-fi/fantasy/tale, too.

Have an open-mind and just enjoy something new, fresh and good.

Cinderella
(2021)

Lost in translation
It's not "that" bad, not in the "Cats" level fortunately.

Unfortunately, it's not good either.

Good ideas, very few good scenes and fun but it's merely a mediocre vision compared to what it could have been with a braver and more firm approach.

It tells everything that Pierce Brosnan and Minnie Driver in their small roles are just simply the most remarkable as actors in this movie.

The leads would have surely needed an actual idea towards their roles and an actual director to guide them. There is no risk taking and not even as good a fairy tale teller as Maleficent was largely thanked to the lack of unique ideas in visuals (should have learned from The Lost Prince, maybe).

Personally, I don't mind the "extra messages", though very bluntly shoveled to the face. The domestic violence is the only believable portrayal those moments show how strong this movie could have been.

Are the songs enough good? Nope. Camila Cabellot is obviously a great singer and she does everything with this "Glee"-level soundtrack but just can't save it - at all. In the era of Lin-Manuel Miranda this can't be accepted and should not either.

This whole concept is lost in translation (clearly shown in reviews and comments). After the Walt Disney cartoon this could have been something original and quotable. Yet, it's just a better "Barbie" movie.

Pig
(2021)

Nic Cage acts in this movie. Really.
First of all: it is a good movie and different.

Secondly: When Nic Cage is a cultural meme and most often than not ridiculed, this movie becomes just another example that he still has "it", he is a good actor when there is a story and an interesting way to tell it.

"Mandy" or "Color Out of Space" were similar endeavors.

It's good to watch something where not everything is told but left for imagination, too. The movie does have a little artistic feel and an indie vibe - making it better.

Sure, it's a Nicholas Cage movie, different level of subtle crazy, but with the layered portrayal of loss, sheltered pain, grief and brokenness.

The film is probably not for the high profit, it's more about filmmaking and giving something to the cinema-goers/armchair watchers they can take with themselves.

Absolutely worthy.

America: The Motion Picture
(2021)

This is funny
Well, this bit is a surprising, anachronistic, well-thought mindless fun and entertainment with meta cultural references and layered jokes.

Very well directed, good paced and actors, creators really did have a great time delivering this unusual bit.

Though the genre is absolutely not my taste and style, yet, couldn't stop watching.

True, it's not an afternoon movie, and definitely not for children.

The music score is a pleasure to the ears, the visual and spoken "one-liners" are on the spot.

Never listen to the naysayers and lazy-minds, have your own time with this. Maybe more than once...

Fatherhood
(2021)

Kevin Hart tries, do movie doesn't - it's not on him
Well, I was quite curious about the new version of Kevin Hart, the one with more depth after things in his life making him possibly more mature and wise, experienced.

Can he act? Yes.

Is it visible in this movie? Partly.

And it's not on him. An actor -especially one out of his depth- needs a good director who leads him to somewhere and gives actual tools to him/her... (just check Arnold in "Maggie", this actually can happen...) The plot here is well, generic, storytelling is almost like on Hallmark Channel... It's a totally missed opportunity both for Kevin Hart and both for the audience.

With the right script and directing it could have been an emotional roller coaster from cries to laughs and back.

By the end it's nothing more just and extended tv-series episode. The ones not really seen these days.

The cast partly was a good choice - again things could (and should) have been used more and better.

It's 6/10, mostly for Kevin Hart, and I really would like to watch a movie utilizing his actual skills for more. Not another Jumanji of course and no, not this lazy Sunday afternoon background tv something. Something real.

Wonder Woman 1984
(2020)

Really wanted to like it...
Well, it has Gal Gadot and sometimes Chris Pine. That's it. Oh yeah, and twice it was almost funny for a moment. And ended as a didactic "hallmark" experience... I really wanted to like it. The idea to have an unusual "evil" is an aspiring one. That's it. Script, editing (gosh), all something I would never ever vouch for... Kristen Wig and Pedro Pascal did their very best, all lost in the mess. I started to miss Ben Affleck (I know, I know, I know) to watch rather. It is painful. And what is IMAX in it? 2020 with these effects? All the "air" flying scenes are better in a computer game... All in all, it wanted to be way more than it could grab - and well, just not entertaining as a whole. Too bad.

Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood
(2019)

Amazing talent, brilliant, genuine movie.
First of all, the very best is not reading anything about this Tarantino movie at all before you go to the theatre. And yes, this one is really for the big screen not for home.

Secondly, this was easily one of the best 3 hours at a theatre in my life, where nobody was eating any popcorn not drinking during the movie. And nobody wanted to believe it was over.

The film is more the superb, the acting is brilliant, Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio have fantastic chemistry, both play their best in their career. Everything is so layered, all the details fit, the storytelling is top notch, the script is unique, the directing is the greatest I've ever seen, soundtrack is perfect, cinematography is outstanding.

And yes, this bit tops Pulp Fiction easily, although -without spoiling anything- it's totally different from every aspects. Tarantino does not repeat itself, this is nothing what made earlier.

Funny, entertaining, the suspense is thrilling and the twists are so surprising.

Yes, this movie is a perfect storytelling, how a movie must tell a story. This is not a documentary, don't expect that. Yet, it is able to grasp a world we can't see anymore and take the audience to a journey where we can be a part of it.

Very, very artistic movie by Tarantino, nothing like he made before.

Destination Wedding
(2018)

Ridicolously funny
Though I was trying to avoid this movie based on its trailer, Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder have so much good time in it that it made my night full of sudden laughs and nods: yes, this is life. And that also brings us to the script: brilliant dialogues. The rest of the movie is nothing special, if it had been only Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder in a black stage I would have enjoyed it the same way. If you have ever had times when you experienced the down part of love and relationships this is a really enjoyable way to spend your time - even if you are by yourself only.

Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi
(2017)

Mark Hamill is a great actor - the only worthy point in this movie
First of all, this is a well-made movie, better than most out these days. On the other hand, it has absolutely destroyed another part of Star Wars. And well, nothing else left from now on.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not mad at Disney because they purely want to sell products and use a movie as a vehicle for them - George Lucas made way more money with gadgets and collectables than with the movies, too. And well, he made terrible mistakes with the prequel trilogy, yes.

The Force Awakens was a simple copycat of the original Star Wars movie - a very lame one. And it made one of the greatest mistake: You don't get your heroes killed. Yet, Han Solo, who was made to do character-distant actions, was absolutley lamely massacred.

This, Last Jedi, made Luke Skywalker be character-distant, nobody in his true mindset, would ever suppose the good and noble, mature Luke, Jedi master would murder a teenager padawan. He would rather seek for more wisdom and try and try again. He would never ever leave the problems for good. Though, I'm giving all the credits to Mark Hamill, who is a great actor, and anything he does in the movie proves this: worthy to watch.

Anything else? Not exactly. Too many characters, to little given to them (c'me on, what did Chewbacca did in the movie? Trying to eat but failed?)

Not to mention the absolutely nonsense thinking in warfare. Or the simply unexplained space-levitating Leia, who can sleep-save herself, but can't do anything with her existing powers for others?

Honestly, this movie showed me: childhood is over, Star Wars is over. There is no coming back from this.

No, not even with this Yoda appears in the movie - breaking all the rules established before.

So, Star Wars is over, watch Mark Hamill in anything, read any non-canon SW books, and use your imagination. This will save you money and disappointment.

This movie has destroyed the last remaining part of Star Wars. Not with just the ridiculous acting of the supporting cast.

Legends: Wilderness of Mirrors
(2014)
Episode 9, Season 1

A Perfect Episode
This series has started quite well, especially because of Sean Bean. However, the series went into mediocre, less and less great writing, and seemed pointless after a while.

However, all of a sudden, with sudden and clever changes, episode 9 became a perfectly crafted, emotionally top, superbly acted one, especially the first half. Well, it might have been better to just stop it there, since the second part is closer to the earlier "poorer" episodes, except the final minutes, where real drama is on screen.

Fortunately, Sonja and Martin got more screen time, and they really add a lot to the series.

The very p***ed off Martin got good, and mostly believable combat scenes, except the ridiculous safe-house shootings - it is hard to believe, that after so many good films about this, creators can think to give cheap solutions... Anyway, better not to switch it off, despite a quite sudden quality change in the second half of this episode. If the whole show was like the first 20 minutes, it easily could become an all time classic. Anyway, Sean Bean is still alive in this episode, and gives a real acting, and well, hard to find anyone as great as he is.

Iron Sky
(2012)

Hilarious!
Actually, this movie is one of the best sci-fi comedies ever.

I have read a lots of critics before watch it (still not screened in this country!), and a have followed its making for a while through the internet.

All the way, this film became very far and different than I (and I think any of us) expected. It handles the whole "Nazi" issue with right and professional attitude with no judging, no hatred and no resentment. The script itself is funny, as the plot, and the directing also helms it well. Some acting are superb, especially Julia Dietze and Götz Otto.

The rhythm and the tone and pace is right and the music and sound effects are also highlights of the movie.

Meanwhile I agree with those, who highlights the stunning visual effects and a great space battle (we have not seen since Star Wars: A New Hope, I guess), after re-watching the movie (right after finishing it first time), it is just a part of the whole.

A lot of critics and reviews falsely blame the creators for their "mixed" film. It is not. Iron Sky gives homage a few films in a nice way, and really sarcastic, it is not didactic and not moralizing a lot. It shows one of the greatest lesson: Love can occur in any circumstances...

And well, it never forgets its purpose: entertaining.

All in all: some great casts, great music, stunning visual, well done directing, unusual (fresh) script, very thorough film.

Iron Sky is the proof for international blockbusters can be made anywhere in the world!

The Karate Kid
(2010)

The most boring film I have ever seen? (not because of JC)
First of all, and for all my disappointments: it is NOT a Jackie Chan film.

A movie with Jackie Chan in a role, yes.

Secondly, this is maybe among the 5 most boring movie I have ever seen in my life, including any indie or art.

With no spoiling, we were convinced with my wife it is something old Nickelodeon style (actually, nowadays they make decent flicks).

The first meaningful act is after 40 minutes (!!), naturally, with JC. The second is after one more hour (!!), also with Him.

I even do not want to write the details, in what ways this film flaws, and so on.

I just lost more than two hours from my life...

Nothing to compare with the original movie, that also had mistakes, but you could like it, you wanted to be Karate Kid, you wanted to do, copy, what the guy studied...

Not like here.

To mention some good points:

  • Jackie Chan: every single scene he is in is worthwhile, and as an ACTOR, just watch Mr Han's breakdown, you have no more question what means to be an actor (JC is pretty good in acting, not only in kung-fu)

  • the nemesis of Dre Parker ( J. Smith), Cheng (Zhenwei Wang): definitely, he will be seen as "bad guy" in the upcoming decade action films (strong as Mako...:)

Weak and forced script, mediocre directing and camera, forgettable music, tough fight scenes, good acting Jackie Chan.

Certainly, this is a vehicle for Jaden Smith (aka Will Smith Jr :), and that is right. And that is all.

If you desire to watch re-played fight scenes on big screen in a computer game format, than buy ticket, eat one and a half hour something, than sit in the last 40 some minutes.

In any other case, save yourself time, money, and once in a lifetime believe it, not worthy...

PS: I never thought how much I will miss Ralph Macchio...:)

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
(2009)

Film what gives you back the Cinema
I've just been to watch The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

Interestingly, it's only in a little, traditional cinema here, not in multiplex. This was the time, when I realized, each film needs to be in its perfect place. Although, this movie is full of great and spectacular elements, what could be nice in larger screen, in this small theater, with friendly café out, movable seats inside was in its perfect place.

To tell the truth, originally I decided no to watch this piece, because of its trailer. Fortunately, the film is totally different.

I was a bit afraid (and tired, bored) of Terry Gilliam's traditional visualization.

I entered late, I set, in the middle of the almost empty rows. The film started. Two hours later, I realized the coat was still on me. The film was over.

It is hard to find the proper words for a description. It just gives you something what I forgot long years ago. How great is to go to Cinema...

A part of mine still wants to see the magic, the wonder, as children want to have it...

One of the greatest strength of the film, that Terry Gilliam forgets to be Terry Gilliam, or better to say, he has changed, and well, he created something magical...

All the cast is great, no slowing downs, no pointless twists, or boring parts, well-written characters, believable situations, high-talented actors and actresses.

The other, very fortunate thing, that the story is as eternal as the duel between the Goods and the others...

Heath Ledger is extremely good, Christopher Plummer is I think in his best, Lily Cole is a great surprise, Andrew Garfield and Tom Waits are also, among the tops. They are united as one, and united with the movie itself.

Somebody must continue to tell the story in the world, not to have its end.

Terry Gilliam and his cast did it, and still, in me they are doing it.

This is what storytelling means. This is what acting means. This is what magic means. This is what Cinema means...

Sherlock Holmes
(2009)

An action-comedy based on a hilarious duo
Just finished watching it, and had some good feelings, unfortunately only at the end.

First of all, this is really the first Sherlock Holmes film I've seen with real, living characters. Actually, this is only partly true. Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law, and Rachel McAdams plays almost real characters, unfortunately sometimes still not enough, and the rest of the cast is just the necessary cliché.

All the film long I was thinking, and that is really unfortunate, it should grab me, and it just does not happen. There were not even a single moment when I could have felt anything i.e. worrying towards the characters, not even a single emotion, except the humor.

Robert Downey Jr's Sherlock Holmes really the best ever, and Jude Law's Dr. Watson is an interesting interpreting of the original character (I mean, almost nothing to do with).

Although, the camera is fine, the music is sometimes quite good, and the directing is not mediocre -and not fantastic, either-, the story is a good plot but less well-written, forgettable CGI, good editing; the movie works mainly by the hilarious Downey-Law duo. The whole movie is not as interesting, entertaining as their comedy parts. This could have been a Holmes-Watson stand-up comedy...

Anyway, first film I find Jude Law a watchable actor, and again, a very positive disappointment in Robert Downey Jr, despite sometimes he himself turns to be his own parody.

Well, "Guy Ritchie" signs can be recognized in some fight scenes, what is surprising and good for the first and second time, but then just tiring and boring, the dialogs and the main duo's atmosphere is good, sometimes great, however he fails to give a dark feeling, or any drama proposition. Fortunately, it is not a typical Hollywood cheesy action pop, but the best parts -when the movie start to work at all- are these scenes.

All in all, only Mr Downey makes this movie work, and worthy to watch, because of him, despite the fact, he seems to be old for this type of character...

The Men Who Stare at Goats
(2009)

We need the Jedi more than ever...
I have just finished watching "The Men Who Stare at Goats", and honestly, it is a real gem! Very funny, but not outrageous like silly, lame, typical Hollywood movies.

It stands right next to M.A.S.H.,and so.

Interestingly, it is a serious comedy, sometimes I felt watching a Kevin Smith movie, sometimes Coens' movie, however, it is far different, and better than them.

George Clooney is one of the most versatile actor in these years. If you have not been convinced up until now, just watch this film.

Kevin Spacey, and Jeff Bridges acts and support very well, but the great surprise is Ewan McGregor, who seemed to be lost in last years. Still, he starts with a quite annoying character, but he turns to be the height of the film.

Without mentioning anything about the story, it is really a sarcastic, strong, and very-close-to-the-truth viewpoint about humans, USA, and the army...

Directing is OK, cameras too, the music is proper for the story.

This is a real ACTOR movie, and worth to watch it. And/or buy it later...

Really credible, especially in the grotesque scenes, and although it has a narrative style, splitting the film, it is quite enjoyable.

And I was so grateful (and still I am) to bring back the JEDI, showing they are EXISTING, they are AMONG US, and yes, Ewan McGregor can be a JEDI again, without George Lucas...

Just watch it, and feel the POWER!

Donkey Xote
(2007)

Good entertainment for older children...
First of all, it IS a good entertainment!

The characters are lovable, the jokes and gigs are really funny.

And this movie needs some education to understand and enjoy it. It is full of references to literature, and squeeze the other "big" films out totally.

Nevertheless, it is true, it has some flops. The music score -except the symphonic parts- are really disturbing, nothing to do with the story... Also, it tries to compete with high-budget US movies, in style, attitude, and so on. And this is a failure. It could have been a really nice, and meaningful, funny and entertaining NOT Hollywood movie. I never understood, why it is necessary to force jokes or fake funny parts into every movie, not to take anything seriously...

However, despite these, it is still enjoyable, and entertaining. And there are interesting twists...:)

So, to sum up, it is great for older children, or never grown up adults...:)

Universal Soldier: Regeneration
(2009)

Jean-Claude van Damme still up
After JCVD movie I was pretty curious the next step. Actually, I can not deny the fact I became disappointed having seen action production for Mr Van Damme, rather than art films. But, one for the art, some others for the money... So, liking also Mr Lundgren I was sad not to have new Universal Soldier movie in cinemas. After watching this part, I must say, this is far better than the most was screened this year.

What is the secret?

Good directing, good photographer, good stunts, good timing, good atmosphere. And most of all, Mr Van Damme is great, and acts, and Mr Lundgren, well, just listen how he starts to speak, and his short monologue...

It is a really good thing in the plot that... well, just see it...:)

To sum up, matured actors can make good movies with good director, good script, good editing, good cameramen, and so on. And this happens here.

And the supporting cast? I haven't even recognized it was filmed in Bulgaria, and honestly, you watch a Van Damme film for Him, and this is also a great point of the directing that... :)

So watch it, and you will like it mainly because of Van Damme and Lundgren. :)

Gran Torino
(2008)

Clint Eastwood's Best
Just seen it, and must tell, how much I am amazed.

Mr Clint Eastwood and his team made maybe the best film in years.

Without telling too many details, it is a must see. This movie speaks about all the things around us -we want to recognize them more or less-, humanity, love, compassion, friendship, isolation, immigration, violence, loneliness, cruelty, revenge, sins and shrift. However, this movie does this, without "teaching", and this is one of its greatest virtue. It is not just a movie what we see, but we are involved so deeply that we realize only towards to the end.

All the supporting cast is really good, but the personalization of Walt Kowalsky by Mr Clint Eastwood is among the very bests of the movie history, and surely the best of Mr Clint Eastwood (and He has proved many times his talent).

The directing is a masterpiece, after a while we live in the film, and the film turns to be our life and fate. The script is one of the best writes. The music (especially at the end) is also wonderful.

It is a real challenge to find words to describe, but it is true, if there was only this movie, Gran Torino, only this movie for a year at the cinemas and in the TV-s, I would watch it every second or third day, and on the days in between I would think of all the things what we can call Life...

Thank You Mr Clint Eastwood, thank you!
