Shanghai Kiss
(2007)

Once in a while, something different comes along.
Firstly, I liked this movie. I liked it for the fact that it explored a lot of ideas that I myself have seen and experienced. Yes I'm Asian, but that doesn't make me automatically like this movie. I took a step outside the confines of who played what role and looked at it from a spectator and movie goer experience, and I found that it was a very interesting movie. I think that if you look beyond the Asian element of this movie, it can be applied to anyone. This is a movie about finding oneself and coming to terms with oneself, and I think this movie does it very well.

Acting wise I think that everyone did very well. I've never seen Ken Leung in a non-action movie before so I'm glad that I'm able to see a different, more realistic, side of him.

All in all, this is a good movie to see. I would definitely say rent it if you would like to see it.

In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale
(2007)

Could have been better, but still not the worst that I've seen.
I have to say I didn't read any reviews when I approached this movie. I went to see it with a couple of friends and it wasn't as horrible as I'd thought. Video Game to movie translations are often horrible so that's all that I took with me to go see this movie.

Most of the lines are quite cheesy and over the top, but some of the performances were actually pretty nice. I was surprised with Burt Reynolds acting in this movie as I'd never seen him in a serious role before so I thought that it was a change from what I'd seen. He didn't to a stellar performance, but it wasn't all too bad either. I think that it was a very neutral performance.

I've seen Lord of the Rings, and of course this doesn't compare to it. But I've also played Dungeon Siege, Dungeon Siege Legends of Aranna, and Dungeon Siege 2 and for the most part it follows the main story. Gas Powered Games was on hand to follow the story through and for the most part I think they did a fairly good job in that.

All in all, would I recommend watching it? If it's on TV, maybe.
