Well it has some good ideas
I'm gonna say this right now, I was entertained by this film. Do I think this is a great film? No I do not, but I felt like it wasn't that bad either. The plot seemed a bit rushed and 50 Cent can't act for sh**, don't even know why anyone thought he could be an actor he can barely rap. Bruce Willis and Ryan Phillipe are probably the biggest reason I found myself enjoying this film, while Bruce Willis is pretty much kept at arms length for most of the film Ryan Phillipe gets a pretty good amount of screen time. Jame Remar also appears in the film and also does a good job with what he got, but I feel like there was an entire subplot taken out and all we saw the epilogue to that(the father being killed at the end). Many people on here have just sh** all over this film and while I can understand where they are coming from, I found myself entertained. I won't be adding this to my DVD Collection, but if its on I'll watch

The Russell Girl
(2008)

Strong Cast, Decent Script
I had recorded this on my DVR when it aired on Lifetime, being a fan of Amber Tamblyn, I figured I'd check it out. Come a few months later and I finally get around to watching it. What my initial reaction was how quickly things seemed to have been wrapped up.

The story for those who haven't seen the film or didn't bother to read the synopsis goes as follows.

Sarah Russell(Amber Tamblyn)is a young medical student who is given the bad news that she now has Leukemia, this prompts her to return home where her mother(Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) and father (Daniel Clark)seem oblivious to why she might have returned. Another plot point this story is that Sarah had moved away after a tragedy occurred with her neighbors (Jennifer Ehle & Henry Czerny) youngest child while she was watching her.

The performances in the film are pretty good, I loved Sarah's reactions and moments of regret and guilt she gives off, especially during the really dramatic moments. Lorraine, who's the neighbor that is still hurting from her daughters death also provides some great moments. My biggest issue with the film is how one moment things show nothing i close to being resolved an than everything is fine. Than the moment when the plot moves forward and gets more interesting than its suddenly over. I understand in the real world things are never certain and the ending we get shows she is at least accepting of her situation, but the main plot seems tied too nicely and rushed.

Do I feel like this was a waste of my time, no, I found the film fun to watch and a great Hallmark Original Film. However, its nothing to run outside and tell your friends about. Its just a great time passer. So if you have nothing to watch and this is on, sit back and enjoy.

Yes, I do realize how much Jennifer Ehle looks like Meryl Streep

Xena: Warrior Princess: God Fearing Child
(2000)
Episode 12, Season 5

Xena's baby bring about a 2nd Hercules finale
This episode has a lot of strong points with just one major flaw, it was only one part. With so much stuff going on you would think that this would have been at least 2 episodes long. Charles Keating returns as Zeus and by this time he has become the definitive Zeus, only matched by Anthony Quinn in the TV Movies. Meg Forster is also back as Hera, reprising her role from the 2 part Series Finale of Hercules. You can see that Meg enjoyed having those moments to give Hercules and Hera some sort of absolution, a little letdown by how she exits the series, just felt rushed, especially considering how hard Zeus fought to get her back in the Hercules episode. Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor shine as always, they've spent lots of screen time together and you could really feel whether as friend or as a couple they were excited to be parents. Lucy Lawless had given birth in her personal life(lucky Rob Tapert)so I'm sure it wasn't hard for her to show the pain in giving birth. This episode does start up a new subplot in which we see Ares having feelings for her, which at the time was a nice surprise, look back now you can see that they were leading into it. Of course the biggest draw of the episode is having Kevin Sorbo back as Hercules, this aired after the Series Finale so this served as a stamp on that ending, showing that he once again he was still helping others. Overall I loved the episode and while I did feel it should have been a two parter it still satisfied in Hercules overall end(since Xena and Gabrielle are frozen for 25 years later on)and a new start with the Gods trying to kill the baby

Death Race 2000
(1975)

Surprisingly Enjoyable
I recently watched this film off of Netflix since its about to be taken off and was surprisingly satisfied as to what I had seen. The film is one of those films that takes on a humorous tone, while against a controversial possibility to happening. While the film was made in the 70's as a look into what the Year 2000 would be like, it still looks great. I found myself wondering if this was made by Stanley Kubrick, lots of long angled shot and bright empty areas. One scene in particular reminded of The Shining & A Clockwork Orange, when Carradine's Frankenstein and his navigator Annie are first alone together, the scene has a presence as strong as the actors and that is what Kubrick was known for, making the scenes jump out as much as the characters. The film has lots of funny moments and each character feels like a live action cartoon character, especially when Martin Kove(of the Karate Kid films)and Sylvester Stallone(of Rocky & Rambo fame). David Carradine plays the Evil Kanieval of the film, known as Frankenstein, this is due to many of his body parts being fake, due to many horrific accidents due to the races. He does an excellent job at playing in the role, a role he'll briefly reprise in the Jason Statham Remake/sequel/prequel. He's also looked at as a sort of unique character, wearing a special out to amplify his look. We get a bit of back story on him, but not too much, as the films focus is definitely on the hit & run races. Sylvester Stallone, plays "Machine Gun" Joe, his main rival throughout the picture, he plays the role in an adolescent way, focused primarily on Frankenstein, because he wants to be #1 and doesn't feel like he is appreciated. He certainly we are made to hate him, as he is way out there, even as far as smacking around his navigator. The females of the film are strong(except the navigator to Machine Gun Joe)and have there own personalities, but I wanna focus primarily on the two leads and the idea of the film. The films plot about legalized Hit & Run sporting events is again seen in the Schwarzenegger film "The Running Man" but instead of hit & run, its a battle royal of sorts criminals. The driving stunts and the circumstances of some of the hit & runs are performed well and hilariously. Stallone & Carradine perform their own driving stunts, making for better scenes and less cuts to stunt men. I have yet to see the remake and the prequels to that, its weird cause while the director of those films stated his film was a prequel to this, all other evidence says its a sequel. Anyway, I've written enough and definitely recommend this, for the formats and editions, I'd say get the recent Shout Factory Blu-Ray or DVD editions as they have some great features.

An Excellent Portrayal of What its Like to Be Deaf
I recently watched this on Netflix and was blown away at how well the film was made, it took great care into portraying the world that Matt must live in everyday, while still presenting it accessible to those who can hear. The actor portraying Matt seemed born to play the role, it does help that he is a deaf actor, so his only difficulty had to have been portraying the athletic part. The rest of the cast compliment the film nicely, especially his roommate, his girlfriend and his Grandfather. The biggest applaud I give this film was the director's use of sound, a lot of the time we are given subtitles to show their use of signing and muddled sounds to show his POV of the world, I love the scene when he and Kristi are at the river/bridge and the sound is completely taken away for at least 5 minutes, the sound of the water rushing comes in and it is an incredible show of the difference in worlds. I'm used to reading subtitles as I watch them on foreign films/TV shows as well as just have them on with my DVD's in case I can't hear something right, so I was drawn into this pictures use. I'm not a huge wrestling fan(anymore, look what WWE has done to it)and never really got into UFC, but I congratulate the filmmakers on a great film and the real life Matt Hamill on all his accomplishments

Catchfire
(1990)

Great cast, OK film, sloppy production
I watched this film today, as its gonna be off Netflix soon, fortunately this is the Director's Cut, so it is titled "Backtrack"(probably a bit of irony for Direct/Star Dennis Hopper). The story isn't the first time we had something like this, although what occurs between Hopper and Forster was unexpected. The cast is A-List, Jodi Forster, Dennis Hopper, Joe Pesci, Paul Sorvino, even the crazy guy from Anger Management is in this(we even get cameos by Bob Dylan and Vincent Price) and all do a fine job, the film is known for its unfortunate behind the scenes drama that occurred between Hopper and the original production company, so its nice to see him being able to have the version he wanted released. There are quite a few drag on moments, but the overall tone of the film is good, its starts off strong, dwindle for a bit and than ends, this is probably where the film falters, usually as a film is getting close to its conclusion, the audience can feel it, its not felt here, a scene happens and than credits, no real resolution. I voted the film 8 out of 10(3 out of 5)because it has some great moments and the actors do give it there all.

The Legend of Bloody Mary
(2008)

Good concept, poor execution
I just watched this film a few days ago on Netflix, as it is going off there soon. The story presented here is actually pretty good, it has a similarity to Candyman, but Candyman was inspired partly by the Bloody Mary story, so perhaps its only natural. That's the good, the bad is all over the rest of this film. This film feels like it was meant to be a short film and than they got a little extra money and had to fill in the time slot. The acting is on a lower level than Troma acting, even Ed Wood directed better actors. The ADR seems to very off, its not something I usually pay much attention too, not really need to pay attention, but it seems like the boom mic operator must have had trouble keeping it steady, cause the dialogue is very clear at times and than very distant sounding. The weakest part of the film is the camera work, now normally directors film a scene, than after getting it right they film the scene again for coverage, obviously this cost money and perhaps they didn't have the budget, but was the cameraman asleep or did something sexy walk by and make him not pay attention? I mean there are several scenes of exposition where the camera begins to film the shoulders or chest of the speaker, sometimes they only film the eyes or forehead, it is a real mess. No offense to the filmmakers if they happen o read this, as its not easy to make a film(its easier to get a film released, than to actually make a proper film), but I hope if they do see this they will try again at this film, as it has potential if done correctly 1 out of 5

American History X
(1998)

Top Rate Acting in this Incredible and Necessary look at life in America
It took me a long time to watch this film, the nature of racism and bigotry is nothing new to anyone, its all around us and sadly will always be there, whether its against Black people, white people or any other ace, its unavoidable. What this film does is amazing, it takes you through one man's journey from a young man, whose outlook on life is like any other at a young age, to someone whose hate is fueled by the unfortunate death of a loved onto him trying to save another loved one to a similar fate. Each and every performance is significant, from the small, but effective roles portrayed by Fairuza Balk and Ethan Suplee, as members of the DOS that Norton's character at the start of the film has brought together, as kind of a new age Nazi regime. The two performances in the film to really look at here goes to Norton and Furlong themselves, the characters are both shown to be bright individuals despite their obvious ignorance and as we get to know them, we begin to really want them to succeed in a turn around. Of course, with Norton's character we see him already changed, trying to put the pieces of his family back together, due to his actions in the past and its through flashbacks we get to see his turnaround. Another performance that should thrown out there is by Guy Torry, who plays Norton's cell mate of sorts(they don't share a cell, but they have the same work duty), his character is likable and he manages to make you feel like your there in the film helping him to turn Norton around. The main focus of the movie starts out with Furlong's character on the verge of becoming the hateful clone that his brother was locked up for going too far with, while we see him as a caring member of the family, its hard to see his ignorance come out, simply due to skin color and feeling that society is now so focused on being equal they are screwing over the white race, which as a white person living in the projects, I can relate(although, I don't grow any hate over it). Edward Furlong does a phenomenal job in this film, although, they look nothing alike, you really feel they were brothers with a tight bond. Another aspect of the film that really sends a great message is how the story the told in present time, with the flashbacks being told in black & white, it keeps the film feeling surreal, while still giving you the message the scene is trying to get out, with the most effective scene coming in the form of what ultimately got Norton landed in jail and what Furlong is thinking of when he finally has his turnaround. Although, I put in that there are spoilers in this review, I think its best you watch this film to see how the ending plays out, its an unexpected and very non-cliché. One that will have you watching through the credits as you wrap your mind around what you just watched. 5 out of 5 stars I will also have to note that this film has never gotten a decent DVD release, no commentary, no featurettes, nothing. The studio needs to wake up and give us something like that.

OK, I wanna point out there that YES, 50 First Dates did it first, but added comedy in it. Now that that is out of the way, let me move on to my review. I enjoyed it tremendously, the film is taken the problem seriously, while adding a touch of romance and even as a guy I felt the chemistry the two actors have in this film. Alexis Biedel is very likable in the film and portrays Molly in a way that makes you believe you could fall for her daily. Zachary Tir(I think that is how you spell his name)is also great in this, you really feel for his dilemma and when things start to dwindle for him you feel bad. This TV Film really does have a potential to be a TV Series but if it never does its still a great TV Film. 5 out of 5 stars

Asylum
(1997)

A great way to pass some time
Now I just got done watching this off of Netflix and felt the need to say a few words on it. It isn't a bad film, but it isn't a film I'd say you have to go out and buy. If I had bought this on DVD and spent more than 5 dollars on it I would have been a bit disappointed in myself, but its not a bad film to watch if you happen to go passed it or just on something like Netflix. Robert Patrick, plays a detective, good at going undercover and uncovering hidden truths, after the death of a friend at a mental institution, he uses his deep rooted suicidal tenancy to commit himself in hopes of finding out who killed his friend. Robert plays the role well, he is certainly the highlight of the film and the reason I felt invested in the film. The film itself plays with your head a bit, it can be slow moving at times and really picks up when the 3rd act begins. There is another patient in the film, a woman, who seems to be abused by hospital staff. that Robert's character seems to really wanna protect more than anyone else. The only other thing I can really comment on this film is that it has some star power. Besides Robert Patrick, who is best known for T2: Judgment Day and Die Hard 2: Die Harder, we also have Sarah Douglas, who is best known for Superman, Superman II(both cuts)and Conan the Destroyer and Malcolm McDowell, who is known for Clockwork Orange and more recently Rob Zombie's Halloween and Halloween II.

Isolation
(2011)

Great way to spend a night on Netflix
I found this on Netflix and from the description it sounded like a great low budget thriller. The movie begins very strong and while it can lag at times, the flashbacks and other ways they tell the story of the two people to fault for what is going on keeps the interest up and the payoff is actually understandable. The actress in the role of Amy, is well cast and you are with her as she struggles to make sense out of what is going on and why it is happening. While the film is low budget it doesn't feel that way, it actually feels like it could have gone through a theatrical run. I would recommend this film to those who are OK with no blood and guts and what is typically the standard.

Batman: Gotham Knight
(2008)

A Great Addition to the DC Universe PG-13 DVD's
First off I must say that this film isn't better than Bruce Timm and Co.'s last attempt(which being Justice League: The New Frontier), but it still holds well to being one of the best adaptations of the Batman mythos ever. Kevin Conroy plays the voice of Bruce Wayne/Batman, a role he's been familiar with for over 15 years. However, this version of the Dark Knight, while still dark and gritty is completely different from his DCAU version. Why, Warner Brothers didn't go to Christian Bale to cover the voice(since this is in continuity with the live action Christopher Nolan films)is a mystery, but Kevin Conroy still does a great job in the role. At times, the voice didn't seem to fit the way the character was drawn, but it still watchable. The animation from 6 different teams is beyond remarkable, I have never been into Anime, mainly because of the story lines, but I have always admired the animation and this animation is quite mind blowing. Along the way of voice actors, we get DCAU voice actors Will Friedle, James Marsden, Corey Burton and Kevin Michael Richardson, all showing why Andrea Romano chose them before and why she chose them now.

If you watch this film for any reason other than its connection to the live action films, watch it for its animation and story structure. Any true Batman fan will love seeing their favorite Dark Knight in Anime Action.

GOOD JOB BRUCE TIMM AND COMPANY!!!!!

Diary of the Dead
(2007)

Wow, No Dawn of the Dead, but Rmoero still has that magic touch
Okay, it has taken me a while to watch this film. The reason for this is because, George Romero is one of my favorite director's in the Zombie genre(Dan O'Bannon, John Russo and a few others come to mind)and after "Land of the Dead" I was highly disappointed. Now don't get me wrong, "Land" isn't a terrible film, but it had so much Studio interference it lost its "independant edge, " so it lost its appeal to me. In this film, we get classic Romero and classic zombie film. Raw, gritty, shaky camera angles, etc. The acting for the film is a bit lackluster at times, but overall okay. It's better than watching Dennis Hopper killing his career(Land of the Dead and The Crow: Wicked Prayer were terrible for him). I highly recommend watching this film, if you want the independants of his work. I certainly hope it continues this way, with the ending leaving a cliffhanger of sorts, we should be seeing one soon. IO just hope if Romero goes with the Weinstein's that leave the film all alone to him. 6 out of 10 points.

Halloween H20: 20 Years Later
(1998)

How The Tables Turn....But Keep On Going....
POSSIBLE SPOILERS...........

Before I review the film, I would like to say, that if it weren't for Jamie Lee Curtis wanting to do an Anniversary type film, this wouldn't have ever happened.

NOW THE SYPNOSIS:(in case you just got out the rock you were under or you just don't watch these films): It's been 20 years since the events in Halloween 1 and 2(released in separate years, but all in 1978), Laurie Strode, who now goes under a different name, has a son name John and is an alcoholic and the Head Mistress of a Private School, has tried to repress the memory of how her brother Michael Myers tried to kill her and killed many of her friends. Now on the Anniversay of that night, Michael has returned to once again continue to get rid of his family members once and for all.

NOW MY REVIEW.... This was the first film to not feature Donald Pleasance as Dr. Loomis and this is the biggest flaw for the film(he died shortly after filming Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers)and it shows. Now don't get me wrong, it's a decent film and a good addition to the series, but it tries too hard to be the original(I mean the closet hiding, the staring out the classroom window)while still showing it's from the 90's(the teenage soap opera type drama). Fortunately, Jamie Lee Curtis is in top form, with a cameo from her mother Janet Leigh(from 60's version of Psycho)as her secretary. Unfortunately, the rest of the cast is a bunch of the times hottest stars(Josh Harnett and Michelle Williams to be specific). Okay, well this review is already long, but here's the short one:

GOOD: Gets more involved in the lives of the ill fated children. Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode MAJOR SPOILER!!!! How Laurie Strode goes from hunted to hunter by the end.. THE ENDING!! BAD: The victims(although, it's good they have a back story, there back stories are stupid and doesn't make you feel sorry when they die) The music(terrible how they reworked the theme, the rest was just not suspenseful). The masks(yes, there were several masks used, due to Miramax/Dimension using three SPFX departments to make the masks) Leaving any reference to parts IV, V, VI out, and making this like part 3

Well that's about it...If you're a fan of the series, than watch this, if this will be your first, than please NO!!! Watch the first film...

Freddy's Nightmares: No More Mr. Nice Guy
(1988)
Episode 1, Season 1

Freddy's Nightmares Have Begun.....
I love the films, sadly though with the little advertising this show got and the fact that I was 6 years old at the time, I never got to watch the show. Now thanks to AOLTV and in2Tv, Warner Brothers have started releasing the show on the internet. Unfortunately one of the few episodes not on there is the Pilot. I found this on you tube and was happy to see it. I was a little disappointed with some of the continuity issues(like the leader of the mob is a different Lt, not Donald Thompson and the Elm Street house is boarded up, this takes place before the 3rd movie and Freddy is not killed in his house's boiler room). Despite that, it's still a great story being told. Tobe Hooper (one of the people who along with Alfred Hitchcock, John Carpenter, Sean Cunningham and Wes Craven set the bar for slasher films)directed a terrific tale of the start of one of the most terrifying killers in film history. Definitely a must see... don't take my word on it, see this for yourself.

TMNT
(2007)

TMNT, The New Generation....(Possible Spoilers)
Before I review this film, I would like to say that it sets itself up as a sequel of sorts to the live action series. April and Casey Jones are together(beginning in part 1), Shredder is defeated(as happened in part II). Now an ancient evil has come back, one that almost conquered the world 3,000 years before. Unfortunately the Ninja turtles are estranged. After their last battle Leonardo has been sent to Central America(by Master Splinter)to work on being a better leader, Donatello has become a phone operator, Michaelangelo has become a kids attraction and Raphael is a hero vigilant. Now the team has to work on their issues if they want to help save he City.....and World.

Well the film holds up pretty well. Although, I believe it could have been better in a Live Action format, it's a great return. Although, I view this as a sequel, it has little elements from the live action series(Raphael's attitude is the same though). It takes a lot of its elements from the recent darker cartoon. I'm now 25 years old and am always loyal to what I watched as a child, but I give the Producers credit for changing it up a bit, for todays youngsters. Some plot points are hard to follow for some of the kids, so it has the element to be an adult film too. The CGI in the film is excellent and the character movements are incredible. I would definitely go and see this film, if you haven't already. If you seen the live action series, don't worry you don't have too. Well I hope this review helps you....Until next time...Cowa Bonga

Super Mario Bros.
(1993)

Sorry...No More Lives Mario...
As a Super Mario Brothers fan I was stoked when I saw the trailer for this film(this was during the Super Mario World/Super Nintendo phase). So when I saw the film, I was a bit disappointed, but as a fan I still watched it. Some ideas were good to bring to life(for instance why is Dennis Hopper not a lizard?). I guarantee you that the problem with the film wasn't the acting. I think Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo and Dennis Hopper were perfect choices, but the production. After reading the John Leguizamo book(he said he almost quitted acting, because of how rough this film was), I was right. Originally the film was written for adults and would've been given a PG-13 or R-rating, but the studio quickly decided it should be a family film. This films best quality is it's soundtrack, due to the fact the actors really had no structure to work with, its sad really. If they make another film I would say to bring the original concept back.

Basically the premise is: King Koopa(in human form)is looking for the Princess so he can get his hands on a meteorite piece that will bring his world and our world together(like it once was) and takeover both worlds. After kidnapping the Princess the Mario Brothers who just met Daisy goes to save her, with the help from some curious rebels(like Big Bertha and a human Toad) It also features Lance Henricksen as the de-evolved King of the Mushroom Kingdom.

So ONLY if your a fan of the video games you should see it. My best recommendation is to either watch it from a friends copy or wait for it to come on TV and record it.

The Cell
(2000)

Excellent Film...Jennifer's BEST Performance...
I saw this film while visiting my mothers house for my sister's baby shower, she had owned this film for a while and I never put it on. Every time I saw the trailer I wanted to see the film, but never had it. So finally I said the hell with it and watched. And I think I should slap myself silly(as a movie buff I should've seen it a long time ago). This film is one of those thrillers that doesn't come by very often. The premise is simple and interesting; a serial killer who tortures his victims, kills them, than makes them into dolls is finally caught, but not before he has some sort of seizure that leaves him comatose. If the police don't get to his latest victim within 40 hours she will die, so they need Jennifer Lopez's character to enter into his mind(she's a hypnotherapist)and gain his trust and find out where the victim is. The film is fast paced when it needs to be and it takes its time when it needs to. In other words the editing is one of the best I've seen in a long time. Although, the film is categorized as being Sci-Fi/Thriller, there is quite a bit of Drama involved that gives the killer's character a sympathetic side(like Frankenstein's Monster). And Jennifer Lopez shows that she can definitely act(unlike Mariah Carey who is a better singer than actor). New Line Cinema has also released a pretty decent DVD(New Line is one of the best Horror movie distributors next to Anchor Bay). With two or three commentaries, deleted/alternate scenes and trailers. The only thing I have a problem with is the packaging. It's the easy to scratch type boxes(the kind Rush Hour came in). If New Line ever re-released this I would like a better box for it to come in and a making of documentary. Once again;a great film. If you haven't seen it go see it.

If you like this film go see... Manhunter(1988) with Brian Cox as Hannibal Lektor(based on the Thomas Harris book The Red Dragon), Silence of the Lambs(1991) with Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lector(based on the Thomas Harris book of the same name) and Kiss the Girls(1997) with Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross(based on the John Patterson book of the same name). NOTE:I recommend reading the books before seeing the film

Dawn of the Dead
(1978)

A Classic...Enough Said
This is literally The Best Zombie film to ever be made. Some would argue that Night is better, but I disagree. Although, Night is a definite classic and stands above this and every other zombie film that has been made and ever will be made. It does so, in a different sense. This sequel is timeless, it will never be considered tame, because Romero spared no expense or mercy on the audience and unlike most directors he did it with class. Yes, no blood was spilt, just to spill more blood. It was always done with class and was never too over the top. I've seen the remake and even though, I enjoyed that too, it's a period film.Set in the present, this isn't. It also doesn't operate as a sequel, no mention of the original characters or references are made and is really a stand alone film. Romero has stated that although in the time line this takes place after Night, he doesn't consider it a real sequel. Romero also manages to mix humor with his horror(although, Dario Argento's European cut eliminates most of the humor)and still delivers a stellar film. So anyone reading who hasn't seen it, get off the computer and buy this film(if you like zombie films, don't rent, pointless). Sit back and enjoy it. PREDESSESOR: Night of the Living Dead(1968) SEQUELS:Day of the Dead (1985), Land of the Dead (2004) REMAKE: Dawn of the Dead (2004)

Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut
(1980)

An Original Vision....Re-Visioned...
I'm a huge fan of the Superman series, being that I have always thought of Donner's original as being the best and its sequel coming fairly close to topping it. I have always noticed that Lester's Superman 3 was filmed and shot completely different from Superman 1 and 2 and always felt like Donner was more evident in the sequel or at least should have been. Considereing the fact that Donner filmed the first and second one simultaneously I know I was right. After years of wondering if Warner Brothers would smarten up and release the original version of this masterpiece(I still like Lester's version)I was happy to hear it was happening. When I brought the set, the first thing I did was popped in The Richard Donner version and watched it with excitement(I felt like a kid again)as Marlon Brando came on the screen as Jor-El. It certainly makes more sense for his father to be in this instead of his mother. Gene Hackman is of course great and it was fun to see more of his scenes. Of course, the plot is still the same, but the film acts like the second part of a 4 hour mini-series(like the Kill Bill movies)where as we get a sypnosis of what happened in the original, with Superman throwing one of the missiles in space and breaking the super-villains out of the Phantom Zone. The film officially begins the morning after and Lois first attempt to make Clark admit he's Superman is tried(I won't say you'll have to see)and is much better than the Paris scene in Lester''s version. I love the Lester version of Superman 2, but this would've been much better way of bringing out the story. Donner does point out he had ideas for sequels, but because of what happened between him and the Salkinds this is what happened. I If it weren't for the disagreement I believe Christopher Reeves continuing sequel would have been much smarter and would've spawned even more sequels, but unfortunately that's not what happened(not to take away from Superman 3, but Superman 4 would've benefited).

Hellraiser: Hellseeker
(2002)

Anymore Kirsty Sequels to Come?
Alright, when I first heard about this film coming out I was stoked. I was like, "Yeah, the real Pinhead is back" than I hear Ashley Laurence is only in the movie for like 4 minutes. Now I have finally taking the dive and brought all the Hellraiser films in one shot(except part 3, waiting for Special Edition) and I was actually impressed. I follows the same guidelines as Part 5, but keeps the familiar tone of the original(Kirsty vs. Pinhead). I do like how the story developed Kirsty's character. I would highly recommend this and watch it with Hellraiser 1-3. I only hope that anymore sequels should have Kirsty in it one more time(I heard Clive Barker is writing a final book, maybe a movie directed by Clive Barker could involve Kirsty taking Pinhead down once and for all).

Halloween: Resurrection
(2002)

WELCOME BACK RICK ROSENTHAL....
I saw H: Resurrection on its premiere day and was very excited. It was also the last time Jamie Lee Curtis would be in Halloween flick, so I wanted to see her in her movie theatre glory. Like the ad says "Evil Come Home" it sure does as Michael slices his way through more unsuspecting trick or treaters. In fact he borrows a type of death from Jason Voorhees kill book. If you get a chance see this film right away. 5 out of 5 stars.

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers
(1995)

Bring On Producer's Cut.....
This sequel to John Carpenter's Halloween isn't terrible, but it's not good either. The makers of this film were obviously in a rush to get this cut of the film finished. It's evident enough. I have both this version and the Producer's Cut and I think the PC version is better because it explains more about Michael and the Thorn cult, which by the way is a real cult that happens every so often on Halloween night. So in closing I hope the makers of this film decide to make a DVD that has this version and the theatrical trailer, because we owe it to Donald Pleasance to show as much of him in the film as possible. R.I.P DR. LOOMIS. THEATRICAL VERSION 3 OUT OF 5 STARS; THE PC VERSION 4 OUT OF 5. OH AND SOME PC SCENES CAN BE FOUND ON THE TV VERSION OF THIS FILM.
