Marcel the Shell with Shoes On
(2021)

A funny and adorable movie.
This was a charming, heartfelt, and funny movie about a tiny little shell named "Marcel" and his grandmother Connie. Didn't know what to expect from this movie but was presently surprised. At least one reviewer said it felt too long but the funny parts made up for that.

Galaxina
(1980)

Galaxina Who Wrote the Script?
If go on Crackle you can watch this 1980 movie Galaxina. The movie deals with the adventures of the Spaceship Infinity and trying to recover this mysterious crystal the Blue Star. This movie is one of these spoof movies in which they were trying to poke fun at movies like Star Wars and Star Trek. Most of what happens is pretty dumb. You can tell this was a low budget movie.

This is one of these movies which may make you want turn of the TV. I'm not going to say this movie was as boring as Gor. This movie is still pretty dumb. The movie starts out and it takes at least 6 minutes just to get through the opening credits in which nothing much happens. There isn't much action until they are told they have to find this Blue Star. For some reason they will have to go through cryogenic sleep for 27 years just to retrieve the blue star. You don't even find this out until part way through the movie.

They eventually end up on this Alien Planet and this is when the movie turns into something that could resemble a spaghetti western. This is where it got really strange. They had aliens that eats humans. They even had a biker gang where the people actually worship a Harley Davidson Motorcycle. This movie was a real mess. You wonder who wrote the script for this movie.

Ladybugs
(1992)

A Soccer Comedy without Will Ferrel
Before Will Ferrell started in a comedy about a kids soccer team there was a movie called Ladybugs. You have Rodney Dangerfield who plays Chester Lee. While trying to get a promotion Chester Lee agrees to coach the company's all girl soccer team. The only problem is he doesn't know anything about soccer. He ends up dressing up his fiancé's son who actually knows stuff about soccer to help the team.

You probably have seen some of other Rodney Dangerfield's movies like Back to School, Easy Money or Caddyshack. This movie is filled with all the great one liners and jokes that make Rodney Dangerfield so great. There are parts of this movie that are totally random but still funny. It seems like Rodney Dangerfield was trying to make a movie that would appeal to kids and be family friendly. Don't let the 4.7 rating fool you. This a funny movie with Rodney Dangerfield in it about soccer.

The Final Countdown
(1980)

The Final Letdownn
There is this cool old Sci-Fi flick I found on Netflix from 1980 "The Final Countdown." The premise of this is pretty simple. You have Kirk Douglas as the captain of the USS Nimitz. They are cruising 200 miles of the Pearl Harbor and suddenly hit some sort of storm and are mysteriously transported to 1941. Now it's December 6th 1941 just 3 days before Pearl harbor.

This ends up being a time travel movie that deals with some moral issues. Do you try prevent the Japanese from attacking Pearl Harbor? If you do it could change history forever. I wouldn't say this is a bad movie.I was expecting more to happen in this movie. These people are left with the possibility of stopping the Japanese from attacking Pearl Harbor but instead decide it's better not the mess with history. I felt like there was something more that could be done to make it better. There was some action in this movie so it's not totally boring. Maybe you will like this movie better than I did.

Far Out Man
(1990)

A Far Out Comedy
I was looking on netflix and ran into this movie "Far Out Man." This movie stars Tommy Chong who plays a hippie searching for his family. He meets up with son and together they go off to see America. In Far Out Man Tommy Chong plays a character that's totally oblivious to what is happening or what is going on. Basically this ends up being a lot like a Cheech and Chong movie. This movie has many of the crazy antics found in the Cheech and Chong movies.

There is some stuff that is really weird and some stuff you might not find funny. They had a rock band in this movie named "Fartz." I guess some people would think that is funny. Martin Mull plays a Dr with the name Liddledick that sounds a lot like "Little Dick."

I don't know why this movie has a rating of 4.4. There's parts of this movie that are really funny. I wasn't expecting this to be a good movie. This movie is a lot like "The Adventures of Ford Fairlane." This is one big adventure. There is some crude humor in this movie including some sex related stuff. There is some stuff that doesn't make sense. There isn't much of a plot in this movie. It's pretty straightforward.

The Thing
(1982)

The Real Thing
The Thing is about scientists in the Antarctic that are confronted by a shape shifting alien that assumes the appearance of the people it kills. This ends up being a movie that keeps you at the edge of your seat. Once the scientists realize there is a good chance someone will get affected that ads to the suspense in this this movie. You don't really know who to trust. You don't know who is going to be next affected by the shape shifting alien. The alien itself ends up being this spider like creature which is really creepy. It may gross you out but I didn't bother me much.

This movie was made before you started seeing CGI in movies. This was made well before these type of horror movies became more popular. Now we have horror movies all the time where a group of people get trapped and something bad happens. There are movies like The Thing except they are not as good. For 1982 this a well made horror movie. I have seen other 80's movies where the special effects weren't as good. I don't know how high I would rate this movie but this was a good movie. You will most likely enjoy this movie.

Phil the Alien
(2004)

Canadians Make Funny Alien Movie!!!
I was watching this low budget Canadian Movie Phil the Alien. This movie deals with an alien that crash lands in Northern Ontario. He ends up becoming friends with a talking beaver. This causes some funny stuff to happen. In one scene the one guy says "Listen Phil He's a Beaver." Phil Says "He's My Friend OK!" In this movie Phil goes from drunk to being in a Christian rock band to a mass murderer.

There is some strange stuff in this movie that is really funny. There is one scene where Phil needs a cigarette. He keeps yelling demanding a cigarette. He eventually gets arrested for assaulting a cigarette vending machine. Most of the time this movie is pretty funny. There are parts where this movie is slow. The theme song they use "Phil The Alien" keeps getting stuck in my head. There is something enchanting about that song. I can't get over the strange alien sounds Phil makes in this movie. I really enjoyed this movie.

Gong fu guan lan
(2008)

Kung Fu Basketball
If you go looking on Netflix or Hulu you can watch this sports movie Kung Fu Dunk. It stars Jay Chou. You might remember Jay Chou from the movie The Green Hornet. Jay Chou plays a orphaned boy that grew up at a kung fu school and eventually becomes a talented basketball player. This movie is mixture of basketball, kung fu and a love story.

Many people have compared this movie to Shaolin Soccer and may have thought it wasn't as good. I actually like this movie. There are parts of this movie that were really funny. In the beginning the kids master dies trying to alter the universe. He ends up being frozen. I don't know if I should be laughing or crying. There are elements that you won't find in most sports movies. This movie doesn't follow the usual formula for most sports movies.

Parts of this movie did feel disjointed. There is the kung fu, the basketball, a love story and the kid trying to reunite with his parents. I feel like there is something that could have made it better. If you can get around the flaws this is a good movie.

Kynodontas
(2009)

Disturbing Behavior
Dogtooth is this artsy little movie that came from Greece and even got a Academy Award Nomination. I'm guessing someone must have really like this film. This film deals with people who have been totally isolated from the real the world. They live on estate where the only people in contact with the outside world are the parents and a security guard that visits.

This movie shows you people who don't understand the real world. One of the kids asks what a zombie is. The mother replies "A zombie is a small yellow flower." You get the impression that some of the kids have serious mental problems. There is scene where the one girl takes a Barbie Doll. She starts cutting off the dolls fingers and feet. A normal kid wouldn't do this. There are scenes like these some people may find disturbing.

There are some people that didn't like this movie because it dealt with subject matter they thought is immoral or something. I don't think there was anything wrong with the subject matter. Yes There are some disturbing scenes in this movie. I thought this movie was slow. Most of the time nothing is going on that is of super importance. Most of the time I felt bored. I feel like this movie is worth seeing just to see what it is. Maybe you will like it more than I did.

Ghost Dad
(1990)

A Spirited Movie with Bill Cosby
If you are looking for a pretty good family movie then watch Ghost Dad. Ghost Dad stars Bill Cosby. You probably will remember him from The Cosby Show. This movie came out in 1990 so it even has the tagline "America's Favorite Dad in a Spirited Comedy." You really think Bill Cosby is going to make people want to see this movie? Remember in 1986 he started in Lenoard Part 6 which currently only gets an IMDb rating of 2.2. That movie is in the bottom #100 of movies.

Ghost dad is about this widowed father who is raising 3 kids. He ends up in taxi cab with a crazy driver and eventually ends up dying. Instead of really dying now is he floating around and ends up in lab of a scientist who studies the paranormal. He asks the scientist to send him back so he can finish this business deal and make sure his kids are well taken care of.

Parts of this movie are really funny. Things like Bill Cosby's head popping out of a telephone receiver. I wasn't sure if this movie could be good. It seemed like a stupid idea. There were some small problems with this movie. There were some things that didn't seem believable. In the beginning of the movie the father could have died on a runaway elevator. Is that suppose to add something to the movie? They had to make the neighbor kid this rich snob who talks about all these great worldly possessions he has. Yeah, let's only show people who are well off in this movie.

Millennium
(1989)

An Underrated Sci-Fi Movie
I ran into this movie called Millennium. I read the synopsis. It mentioned time travel and people being abducted. That sounds like an interesting movie. You have Kristofferson who plays Bill Smith an investigator. He investigating a jetliner that crashed and trying to figure out what happened. At first you may be a little confused. You wonder what exactly happened to the people on that plane. Eventually you find out these people have been abducted by this woman Louise whose is played by Cheryl Ladd. It turns out there is a problem in the future where they need to people to repopulate earth. Just the whole idea of time travel and people being abducted it sucks you into this movie.

There are some strange things in this movie. For some reason in this movie a lot of people smoke. There is this premise where all the people from the future must smoke. Like smoking is considered healthy to people. If this movie were made today would it still be rated PG-13? There ends up being this love story between Bill and Louise. I don't know why they choose to have a love story in this movie. I don't think the love story really detracted from the movie.

There are some things in this movie that makes it really good. You have an android named Sherman which adds some comedy to this movie. He provides a lot of good one liners in this movie. He reminds of 3-CPO from the Star Wars Movies. There is some things that make me want to watch this movie over and over again. I could care less if some of this movie looks cheesy or doesn't exactly make sense. I would watch this again.

The Godson
(1998)

The Oddfather Movie
I saw on netflix this movie called "The Godson." The Godson is suppose to beparody of famous mob movies like The Godfather and Scarface. You haveDom Delisie who play The Oddfather, Rodney Dangerfield as The Rodfatherand Kevin McDonald as Guppy Calzone. The movie starts out with The Oddfather. He has son who they think has died but once they bury him hereally isn't dead. He supposedly died because he tripped and his head hit on a fire hydrant. This leads to the Oddfather choosing his other son Guppy Calzone to be the head of their crime family. Just the though of someone dying by hitting their head on a fire hydrant sounds absurd. This is one of these low budget movies where there isn't very good acting. The way people say they deliver their lines it doesn't sound right. You can tell there is something wrong with the movie.

If anyone has seen this movie they probably thought it could be good because Rodney Dangerfield is in. It takes at least 20 to 30 minutes before you get see to Rodney Dangerfield in this movie. He provides this movie with some of his usual shtick. You would think with The Godson being a spoof movie they would be trying to make a funny movie. Parts of the movie are stupid in which there is nothing that is funny. Some of the stuff in this movie is really absurd. I thought parts of the movie were funny. If you can accept what you are being given then this movie isn't so bad.

Noordzee, Texas
(2011)

A Gay Love Story
If you go looking on netflix you will find there are dozens of gay themed movies. I ended up finding this dutch movie called North Sea Texas. You have a teenage boy named Pim. He has mother who is a singer and accordion player. She spends most of her time away from the house partying rather than raising her child. Pim spends most of his time at a neighbors house. This is where he meets a boy named Gino who he falls in love with. Pim likes to dream about things including drawing pictures of Gino.

There are some loves scenes in this movie between Pim and Gino. There is some stuff you might object to. Some people may not like the idea of guys kissing. Otherwise this movie is pretty clean. There is no violence in this movie. This is an interesting movie about teenage boys who fall in love. This movie shows a gay teenager named Pim whois a lot stronger that most people. He isn't confused in any sort of way. Pim isn't afraid to express his feelings towards Gino. This is a movie worth watching. It's a lot different that your typical love story.

Time Bandits
(1981)

A fun 80's fantasy movie
Time Bandits is about who this boy who accidentally ends up going on adventure with dwarfs who go from time period to time period looking for stuff to steel. It starts out with dwarfs who steel this map from the supreme being which shows them holes that lead to various time periods. They end up traveling to different time periods and get to meet people such as Napoleon, Robin Hood, and even someone who resembles the devil. This movie shows you different sides of each character and the problems they have. Time Bandits was a fun movie to watch. This movie reminds me of other 80's fantasy movies where even if the movie is only rated PG there could be some parts that may be a little scary for younger children.

People have mentioned they were planning to remake this movie into a series of kids movies. I don't know why anyone would want to remake this movie into a series of kids movies. This was a fun movie to watch. There are some funny parts like when they meet a drunk napoleon and when they end up on the Titanic. I would recommend people to watch this movie.

Gor
(1987)

A low budget sci-fi fantasy movie
Gor is about a college professor Tarl Calbot who puts on a magical ring that transports him to the planet of Gor. This movie was made during the 1980's when movies like Star Trek and Star Wars were popular. Somehow they got both Jack Palance and Oliver Reed to star in this movie. I know Nicolas Cage over the years has starred in some bad movies. You wonder why they even agreed to star in this movie.

This movie really needed a higher budget. The armor the characters were wearing looked like plastic. You had cheesy music that resembled something cross between Star Trek and Star Wars. I guess they couldn't come up with something more original. There is suppose to be a planet called Gor with all sorts of unique creatures. This movie makes you feel like you are stuck in the Shara Dessert and not on some other unique planet. Someone mentioned in the book they weren't even riding horses. I guess they didn't have enough money to actually make this a decent movie. Disney at least tried to make John Carter a good movie. They tried to make a series of books into a good movie.

Cleanflix
(2009)

An Interesting look at the Movie Industry
If you go looking on Netflix there are some more obscure documentary movies you probably haven't heard of. I ran into this movie called "CleanFlix." There were these movie rental places in Utah such as Cleanflix where you could get edited movies. There were Mormon's out there that wanted clean version's of R Movies and PG-13 Movies that didn't have all the sex or so much violence. Eventually the movie studio's took notice of this and forced all these rental places to shut down.

I thought this movie was interesting. It shows you a different side of the movie industry, Apparently these directors can take their artistic work very seriously. You are also not suppose to edit and resell those movies because then you are violating copyright laws. You had these people editing movies because they saw a market for it. There are people out there who cannot watch movies with any violence, sex or foul language in them. They filled this void by offering clean versions of movies. This movie does show you what many Mormon's believe in but mostly it shows you what happened to Cleanflix. I would recommend watching this movie. It's an interesting look at Mormon's, The Movie Industry and Copyright Laws.

In a Day
(2006)

A Charming Little Movie
I was looking at movies you can stream on Netflix. I see this movie "In A Day" and it keeps staring in my face. I don't know if I would like the movie but there was something out there telling me to watch this movie. You have Lorraine Pilkington who plays Ashely. Ashley works at a local sandwich shop. She is waiting at a bus stop and someone throws hot coffee on her. Why would this person do this? I don't know. She runs into a man who frequents this sandwich shop who offers to clean her up and cheer her up.

This ends up being a charming little movie. This movie has the elements of a Romantic Comedy in it mixed in with some more serious dialog and content. This movie does deal with some more serious issues such as bullying. I noticed a few people didn't like this movie. I'm guessing they were expecting this be a romantic comedy and these more serious elements changed how they felt about this movie. I don't think there were any serious problems with this movie. This movie is fairly straightforward. Most of this movie deals with this guy trying to cheer up this woman who so far has had a bad day. I would say this is a good movie to watch.

Gau ji
(2004)

Not Your Average Dumplings!
Dumplings deals with some serious issues. You have Bai Ling. Bai Ling plays Mei a famous cook known for her home made rejuvenation dumplings. There is a secret ingredient in these dumplings. You are not told this woman was a former gynecologist and person who used to perform abortions. You won't know much about Mei exactly until a little later in the movie.

You have a former TV Star Mrs. Li who visits Mei because she think those dumplings can help recover her youth and become attractive again to her husband. At what costs is it worth looking young? There also ends up being problems with husband such as having sex with other woman than his wife.

Some of the content in this movie is stuff you may morally object to. This movie deals with a lot of different moral issues tied to love, beauty and abortion. Just having something like abortion in a movie would probably turn away any American from wanting to watch a movie like this. They ended up taking a short story and made into a 90 minute movie. It does end up being a little bit slow at times. This is an interesting movie. This is worth seeing at least once.

Ssa-i-bo-geu-ji-man-gwen-chan-a
(2006)

A love story with Crazy People
This is a movie that does deal with some serious issues. Some people can have serious mental problems. In this movie I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK you have a woman in this mental hospital who thinks she is a combat cyborg. Since she is cyborg she won't eat food so instead she licks batteries. Parts of the movie are really strange. She ends up eventually falling in love with another man who thinks he can steal people souls.

There are some really funny moments like when the woman tries to talk to a vending machine. They have a few scenes that show how crazy the grandmother was. She thought she was a rat and she would eat radishes all day. You begin to like all the characters even though they do have some flaws. I haven't seen many Korean Movies. You can currently stream this movie on netflix and it's a good movie to watch.

The Golden Child
(1986)

A fantasy film with Eddie Murphy???
I saw this movie available on Netflix and was interested in the premise. You have Eddie Murphy who plays a private detective that specializes in finding missing children. He is told he is the "chosen one" and must protect the "Golden Child" who was kidnapped by an evil sorcerer. I didn't know exactly what to expect. Eddie Murphy is known for doing a lot of action or comedy movies. This movie ends up being a mix of action, comedy and fantasy.

Some people will mention this movie was a low point in his career. Well this movie earned close to 80 million dollars. Eddie Murphy has done some more recent movies that have done far worse. There are a lot of funny parts in this movie. I really enjoyed this movie. This was a fun movie to watch.

Airport 1975
(1974)

Where is the Action?
I'm watching Aiport 75 and wondering where the action is. Part way through the movie you have person in small plane suffer a heart attack. His plane crashes into a 747. Now the 747 has a small hole in the plane and it's pilotless. Now who is going to land plane? For some reason they decided they were going to use a helicopter and try to land a pilot in the cockpit of the plane. It doesn't seem believable. If this did happen in real life I don't think that's how they would do it. They had a bunch of different passengers on the plane such as Gloria Swanson playing herself, Nun's that can even play guitar and a kid who needs a kidney transplant. I guess there was reason they needed all these different characters in this movie. It wasn't like it helped the movie much.

I didn't realize this movie was the basis for the movie Airplane! Airplane is a lot like this movie but much funnier. They took Airport 75 and made another movie which is much better. I like these Airplane movies and would rather watch Airplane!. I have seen that movie many times and really liked it. I wouldn't say Airport 75 was that bad of a movie. It had it's moments where it was good.

Going Overboard
(1989)

Movie was actually pretty funny
I don't know what people are talking about. I don't see how this movie could get a 1.8 rating. I don't see how this Adam Sandler movie could be lower rated than Jack and Jill. Yes this movie can slow at times but some moments are really funny.

Adam Sandler plays a struggling comedian who takes a lowly job on a cruise ship in hopes eventually he could be a big cruise ship comedian. You have Scott LaRose who plays Dickie Diamond the cruise ship comedian. Dickie Diamond is someone who uses the F-Word a lot. You wouldn't think he is the cruise ship comedian but he is. He ends up eventually getting locked up in a bathroom. The people on the cruise ship think he must have died and have a funeral for him. It was one of my favorite parts of the movie. There are some parts of this movie that are really funny. I don't understand why this movie gets such a low rating. There are plenty of other worse Adam Sandler movies.

The Adventures of Ford Fairlane
(1990)

Koalas Eating Cereal What the Heck???
I never heard of Andre Dice Clay besides seeing him on the celebrity apprentice. He is one of these comedians that can be offensive. If you don't mind hearing a sex joke or something that someone might think is derogatory to women then you probably won't mind. This movie was made in 1990 well before things like South Park and The Hangover movies.

In this movie you have Andre Dice Clay who plays Ford Fairlane "The Rock n' Roll Detective." Just the though of a rock n' roll detective sounds crazy. His character doesn't seem very nice and that's what he is. He says stuff that could be totally offensive and he doesn't care. This movie is filled with plenty of one liners. Part of what makes this movie good is all the one liners like "Hey Harry Shake Me!" This movie is cheesy but also really fun to watch.

Shakma
(1990)

Roleplaying and Killer Baboons!!!
There is this dumb movie called Shakma about this killer Baboon running around a science lab. It starts out with Shakma this Baboon who has been drugged up. They think he is dead but not really. You have college students in this lab playing a role-playing game that resemble something like "Dungeons and Dragons." I guess this is something these science students like to do for fun? I thought what they were doing was really funny. This is one the reasons I wanted to see this movie. The idea of these students playing a role playing game and being chased by a killer baboon sounded like it could be a fun movie.

You can tell this a B-Horror Movie. This is not the type of movie you would rate 10/10. I would rate this no higher than 6/10. Parts of this movie are really cheesy. I would say this is a fun movie. This movie worth seeing at least once to see what it is.

Atlas Shrugged: Part I
(2011)

Reminds me of the movie "Lion for Lambs"
This movie reminds me of "Lion for Lambs ." I remember Lion for Lambs which stared Robert Redford, Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep. It was a 90 minute movie with a lot of talking in it. You almost felt like they are trying to preach something to you. I feel like Atlas Shrugged had the same problem. There was a lot of talking in the movie. There was very little Action in the movie. How can you make a movie that isn't boring? I don't understand how this movie could even be considered to be a Sci-Fi. You may be confused sometimes on what is going on. They took 1/3 of this 1,069 page book and made into about a 100 minute movie. The Hobbit is only a 285 page book and they are making that book into 3 movies.

You have to be careful reading the reviews of this movie. You are going to get some people who don't agree with Ayn Rand's Philosophies. There are other people who believe in Rand's Philosophies who didn't feel the movie was good enough. You have to realize this was low budget film. You have to realize this movie could have been better but isn't. I'm hoping the 2nd and 3rd films are better.
