Assault on Precinct 13
(2005)

Fast paced action all the way.
'Assault' is an extremely violent action movie. The good guys are the bad guys, and the bad guys are the good guys.Fishburne, is the centerpiece of the movie as the infamous, heartless hoodlum who does have a heart after all.Hawke, the policeman, redeems himself from his previous undercover mission gone awry.He was wallowing in self pity, and self blame over the deaths of his comrades in that previous failed assignment.Fishburnes displays loads of life wisdom though he has a heavy criminal history. He challenges Hawke to resurrect himself as a the team leader.Hawke comes out of his shell to lead the group against the army of rogue cops bent on breaking FISHBURNE out of jail. The situation was as desperate as the Alamo. The characters in the precinct building are very diverse and interesting. The final scenes are true to the movies story line.A trail of death, destruction, betrayal, surprises, all make the movie very interesting.Young kids and squeamish people should not see this film. For everyone else it is an excellent shoot 'em up, bang, bang, movie.

Something's Gotta Give
(2003)

I love this movie!
JACK the playboy vs. Dianne the brilliant. He's the big bad wolf, who can't handle the truth. He finally faces up to love beyond lust. This is a very amusing romantic comedy that should be made into a Broadway play.I would be first in line to see it.I consider this a must see movie for the baby boomer generation.JACK & DIANNE are dynamic together in the way the great legendary stars of the past coupled together so well. It's a thing called CHEMISTRY...and they have it!Voila!

West Point of the Air
(1935)

A story of manhood in the 1930's U.S. military.
Wallace Beery's role as BIG MIKE inspired me to overcome a recent challenge.Robert Young as Little Mike, the son, played the very human young soldier facing life altering decisions. The propeller plane air force was very interesting in light of today's SSTS,Stealth bombers & the like.Rosalind Russell & Maureen O'Sullivan gave quality performances as women on the opposite ends of the moral scale.Wallace Berry's strength of character,& admirable rectitude dominated this film.Big Mike has become a hero of mine.

Rocky II
(1979)

One of the greatest sequels of all time!
Rocky II was a true continuation story of Rocky the underdog. This time the obstacles he has to overcome include his sight depletion, lack of

mainsteam work qualifications-partially due to illiteracy,Adrian's complications during child birth{coma} & his promise to ADRIAN he would retire from the ring.Rocky's personality overcomes all because he is

a champion in life.He has tremendous personal qualities of family values, religion, loyalty, fidelity, coachability, ability to get along with others, kindness to animals & sense of humor. One of my favorite all-time lines is when GAZZO asks if he would like to invest some of the winnings from his first fight into 'condominiums' & Rocky replies 'I never use them'.Classic!Beyond Rocky himself,Burgess Meredith gives what I consider the greatest performance as a fight manager/trainer in the history of movies.Mickey {Meredith} was crusty, tough, & 'old school' as they come.Meredith delivered such powerful acting as the taskmaster trainer that you could feel his inner strength. He was a man who overcame life's hard knocks to get his shot WITH ROCKY as champion of the world. It was MICKEY'S years of learning & retaining while getting slammed that allowed him to put his life & soul into ROCKY BALBOA.He tells ROCKY in the chapel while they were praying for ADRIAN that if ROCKY wanted give up his title shot & fail that he MICKEY would be willing to fail right along with him.He stayed there in the chapel praying & in the hospital with Rocky until Adrian awoke.Last TALIA Shire was beautiful in this film.Adrian's shyness was gone because of her new confidence from her love & marriage to ROCKY.All this seemed to reflect in Adrian's{SHIRES} moody eyes. Her eyes really shined in her romantic scenes with ROCKY;her eyes showed anger at the commercial people,& and her eyes showed deep disappointment when Rocky & Mickey agreed to the rematch with CREED.Weathers once again was simply outstanding as APOLLO CREED.This time he was fighting for his broken pride which could not accept that Balboa had taken him 15 rounds as some unknown club fighter. But CREED learned that ROCKY was much more than that.He was a champion waiting to happen.Godfather II got all the awards, but ROCKY II has all the heart. To this day Rocky Balboa is an international hero.Just like this sequel!

Love Affair
(1994)

This could have been a 5 star movie!
The beginning of this movie misleads the viewer to take the production as a light hearted semi-comedy.Gary SHANDLING,Harold RAMIS et.al that give this film a comedic appearance are miscast. This film is a study

of the life changing affect that true love can produce. The character

evolvement of BEATTY was not properly developed early.A different supporting cast{besides HEPBURN} & plot tone could have possibly produced a classic! The movie takes a 180 degree turn when BENNING meets HEPBURN & the Old style meets new breed.HEPBURN elevates this movie from an ordinary run to a second half that is breathtaking. She could have been an oscar winner had this been a completely serious movie from beginning to end.Hepburn's personality & delivery of her thought provoking lines were a masterpiece. To their credit Benning & Beatty were able to carry on the profound level of acting & purpose established by HEPBURN...This movie has a beautiful ending, conclusion. This should have, could have been a movie for the ages!

Murder in a Small Town
(1999)

A great whodunit!
I love this movie. The time period sets & characters were very engrossing.I was truly surprised as to the outcome of this movie.I thought I had it all figured out. This film reminds me of the board game "Clue".I will probably purchase this movie. There is a little bit of "CHINATOWN" in the movie's plot.Terrific acting & use of guile to fool the viewing audience.Very entertaining.I hope WILDER reprises his role.

Body Heat
(1981)

Sinsational! With a strong emphasis on sin!
I agree with every good review that has been posted on this site about "BODY HEAT". KATHLEEN TURNER is so sizzling as MATTY just about every male libido is working overtime.WILLIAM HURT is brilliant as the chump fly set up by this BLACK WIDOW spider.Poor guy you ALMOST feel sorry for him..but wait didn't he get the goodies?..No way could he get beyond the lust..until it was too late. What a movie! Richard Crenna, RIP,you were also well casted & acted brilliantly in your cuckold role.I consider this a classic femme fatale film.TOUCHE!

Training Day
(2001)

Another disgusting "Cop gone bad"
I cannot believe DENZEL WASHINGTON could win an acting award for the vile, vulgar dialogue of his character. The main word in the movie was "dog" this & "dog" that. What a complete ton of garbage. The plot of the movie was fairly & cleverly thought out. However, there is a lot of warmed over milk with this police type theme. You can find dozens of 'cop' thrillers at the video store. What separates this movie from being average is the abhorrent language utilized by the feature character. Awards? Maybe for the worst dialogue by an academy award winner in history!

Pulp Fiction
(1994)

This is one of the most disgusting movies of all time.
"Pulp Fiction" panders to base behavior. The filth of the language, subject matter, including sodomy, sickening drug use & the flippancy of the hit men is not amusing. This movie is one of the worst pieces of trash ever pawned off as art!Glorification of this movie illuminates the level of moral turpitude that permeates throughout American society & Hollywood in particular.

Unfaithful
(2002)

Extremely seductive in the mold of "Body Heat".
This movie is a modern marvel. It gives you today's open sex scenes, & tenuous morals.Yet pulls you back to look at the dilemmas & consequences of impulsive lascivious behavior.DIANE LANE was to "UNFAITHFUL" what KATHLEEN TURNER was to "BODY HEAT"..A gorgeous sex symbol but where TURNER was a femme fatale that purposely created victims,LANE unwittingly made herself, husband & lover all victims of her libidinous lust.GERE'S character succumbed to the impulse of murder. Thus, the tragedy ends? for this couple in front of the police station.Very interesting conclusion to a well woven, entertaining & perhaps controversial piece of art.

Confession
(1937)

Extraordinary tearjerker with superb plot & acting.
This movie is underrated. It is an exceptional tearjerker. This movie exemplifies the statement "they don't make them like they used to". KAY FRANCIS absolutely steals this movie & puts it over the top. An all time classic for it's genre.HAPPY BIRTHDAY - KAY FRANCIS!
