Prisoners Wives
(2012)

Great Series
I accidentally found this series and thought is was just going to be a time filler but instead found it to be one of the most enjoyable series that I have watched in a very long time. The fact that it is from BBC is even more likable. Each episode is devoted to the real life emotional and life changing events that occur in peoples lives that have a loved one in prison. This is no doubt something that most people do not give much thought to but the spouses of those confined are victims as well and face a multitude of problems in trying to deal with the judgments of society and how it affects them financially and emotionally. Emma Rigby was absolutely a charm in this series and Franchesca who is an equal to America's Middle Aged Barbie doll, Jennifer Coolidge. I hope this series is long lived and that it continues. I don't know whether or not it is scheduled for another season but I am sure hoping to find it on the schedule.

The Riches
(2007)

Wish It Was Still On
It took a while and many episodes to warm up to this series but once I did, I really enjoyed it. It may have lacked a lot of imagination and gave too much attention to small details but I came to love the story and it's characters. Having been a Forever Fan of "Minnie Driver" I first thought this was beneath her but again, it took awhile to realize that it gave her an opportunity to shine. I love Margo Martindale in everything she appears in and never miss an opportunity to see her as she is always a refreshing and easily admired woman. Just wish this show had been more successful and longer lived. I never knew that "Travelers" were a part of everyday society and while they may not be as prominent as this story would have one to believe, it at least gives one knowledge of the types of people that are always lurking among us. Whether this is as real as the story goes, I wouldn't know thankfully but God Bless Those who are victimized by such people. It opened a new window for me and I came to really enjoy this show immensely.

Sleep Easy, Hutch Rimes
(2000)

Great Unknown and Under-rated Movie
I wasn't expecting much from this but as it turned out, it was one of those surprisingly hidden movies that I'd never heard of and it really improved my mood. Swoozy Kurtz rocks as she plays a middle aged "diva" that is hidden behind a prudish wig. It has a lot of twists and turns and you sure can't predict what is going to happen next. It has more than it's share of laughs and surprises. A great and well put together cast. I thought the acting was great and again, it was a lot more than I could have expected. I thought it was a well written, well acted and all around a great movie to find. Compared to the movies rolling out of Hollywood today, I'd give it a 10. Loved the characters.

May
(2002)

May is Magic
This has to be one of the most unusual and unique films I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. I saw this movie when it came out and forgot the name but it stuck with me for years until I recently hunted it down to re-watch and see if it still had the same affect and it did. It is a Dark Humorous, Horror flick that is full of strangely attracting scenes. Angela Bettis is "THE" horror queen if you have watched any of her films, you have to love her. She is so gifted and is truly under-rated as an actress. She just mesmerizes me in everything she plays in but she gives her most prized performance in May. A little awkward girl who struggles all her life to find that one person that "gets" her. In the beginning, her mother says, "if you can't find a friend, make one" which really becomes her. Anna Farris rocks as May's vet co-worker who actually becomes infatuated with May's weird oddities. They develop a strange relationship that in itself is full of weird laughs. If you enjoy dark humor and horror and don't mind thinking outside the box, don't miss this one. You'll enjoy this one.

ExTerminators
(2009)

Funny without knowing it.
This is by far one of the funniest and under-rated films I have seen in recent years. Jennifer Coolidge rocks as usual and she makes this film what it is. She is just funny with meaning to be or at least in a very unpretentious way. I love all these girls and have watched this movie over and over. The soundtrack also compliments this movie completely. This is a movie that doesn't go stale or off in left field like most do half way through. The story offers continuous laughs and keeps your attention. It has some very surprising takes along the way and keeps you guessing what's next. These girls are my hero's and this film was cast in absolute perfection as each one plays their roles perfectly and gives this movie a sense of reality. These characters all pull off their roles in a way that doesn't at all seem scripted but like you're watching an actual everyday happening. Thanks to everyone involved in this movie for offering such an entertaining and comical movie that I hope will gain all the recognition it deserves. My hat's off to these women.

Strangers with Candy
(2005)

This is the movie if your feeling down
Sweetheart Amy Sedaris plays appropriately named, Jerri Blank in the off the wall comedy about a 46 year old ex-drug addict, prostitute and loser who goes back to high school. She appears almost retarded but she is everything but. The Comedy Central series from 1999-2001 named the same title, was 30 episodes of the same genre. She offers crude, down right shocking remarks that you have to laugh about. She is passive bisexual and lude and lacks all graces of the typical middle aged female. Amy Sedaris is hilarious and her off the chart behavior in this movie should get your mind off any problems. If you are expecting a truly down to earth teen age comedy, you will be disappointed as it is everything but. It violates sensitive politically correct subjects from race to sex preferences to gross references to drug and sex addiction in a very comical way that you just can't find offensive. Stand back and take a different perspective when watching this movie and don't take it so seriously and you will enjoy it greatly. She is truly a talented comedian. Everyone has to love Amy Sedaris. Loves Amy Sedaris.
