Main, Meri Patni... Aur Woh!
(2005)

WOW! This is called a movie!
I am usually quite skeptical about the new bollywood movies because there is nothing much except flashing naked bodies, senseless songs, silly dialogs and stale story line in them. However, occasionally Bollywood does churn out some jewels. This is one of them and this one took my heart. The story? Is very simple, I almost knew the ending but I was still urged to watch it all. Why? I don't know why! But what I know is that the movie captures the life of a typical Indian middle-class family and puts it on the screen in the most subtle way. Especially those sensitive moments are portrayed in the most beautiful manner. For example, when Mithilesh (played by Rajpal Yadav) meets his to be wife for the first time, you can feel the tingling sensation within – i.e., the same sensation when you 'saw' your spouse for the first time before marriage. The story is so down-to-earth and close to real-life that you feel 'living' through it.

Highly recommended! Kudos to the people who made it! A sure buy for my DVD collection to support such performances in the future.

The Others
(2001)

Not as bad as people say it is...
Well I have read some long comments here of people saying how bad it is. But I do not understand what do they want or expect.

I am not particularly a fan of Horror movies. I watch movies for a certain entertainment value and sometimes for a message. To me this movie provided a good entertainment all the way through. If somebody is looking for an art or something like this, then I must say you are at the wrong place. Otherwise, its a good movie for people like me.

8/10 from me ! :)

Me, Myself & Irene
(2000)

Another 'dumb' comedy
Well I personally do not like such movies, particularly such dumb 'sexual' oriented comedies.

There are a plenty of disgusting scenes & moments.

Pathetic !

4/10

The Kid
(2000)

Quite different
I waited long to watch this movie. Also because I like Bruce Willis. The plot was quite different from what I had expected but still quite good. Its a good mix of emotions, humor and drama.

Left me thinking over and again :)

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
(1992)

I liked it !
Well I would say, I like such movies. Even though the basic plot is similar to the first one. It certainly has some new things too. I enjoyed it totally and also decided to buy the DVD set for all the three movies !

Its just a matter of taste !

4/5 from me :)

Midnight Run
(1988)

Comedy on the 'Run' at just right pace
I enjoy this film each time I watch it. I watched it twice on the Video, later I bought the DVD and have watched again a couple of times. Even though I know what is going to happen, the humor does not miss to bring laughter.

Its a gradual moving comedy drama without some stupid 'sexual' comedy.

One has to understand the movie in order to enjoy the funny moments. Particularly my favorites are:

Marvin look.... !!! Sunglasses. Son of a bi*** stole my cigarettes again. Take a wild guess.

Watch it, you will like it :)

K-19: The Widowmaker
(2002)

Certainly worth watching !
I thought so many times before I decided to really watch this movie because the critics commented about the poor quality of the movie.

I was rather surprised that it wasn't true. I never felt throughout the movie that it was getting boring or too heavy. It goes at a very comfortable pace and kept me curious at every moment.

It is also a matter of taste but I have personally noticed that the movies, critics say are very good are not usually that good and the movies they say are bad are not that bad either.

Just watch this one and decide for yourself !

8/10 from me !

Bend It Like Beckham
(2002)

Wonderful :)
I went to watch this movie because my friend told me about it. Frankly speaking I did not have any good expectations when I decided to watch it. I took my colleague with me such that she could also get a feel of a typical Indian family.

I must say that I was amazed by the quality of the movie. Its about serious human feelings, yet some light moments and nice music too.

I think I would be watching it time and again ! :)

Highly recommended :)

PS: Though it truly represents a typical Indian family but some of the stereo-types are still exaggerated a bit. But thats surely a part of such films to make them more entertaining ! :)

Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin
(1991)

Good Entertainer
I watched this movie when I was a teenager. Later I have watched it again a couple of times and its as entertaining as it was on the first time.

Anupam Kher is a talented actor, he fits well into a spectrum of roles. But I like him most as a comedian. In this movie he plays the father of the girl (Pooja Bhatt) and he plays it well :)

Some very nice songs too. Certainly worth watching.

Lawrence of Arabia
(1962)

My favourite film ever !!! :)
Incidentally, I watched this movie alone on Video. Before playing, I had no idea that its so long. But I never felt the time. I was amazed how more that three and a half hours flew past ! The movie left me mesmerised about how complex human character can be. Sir T E Lawrence was a poet, a scholar and also a soldier in 1st World war. He was a friend to some, God to some people (Arabs), and an Idiot to some ! However the most fascinating thing about him, what I liked was the complexity of his character. One never knows what he thought, and the reason for his doings.

I pay a lot of attention also to the Theme music while watching a movie and this movie has really fine music. The panoramic views are without any special effects but sheer beauty. Worth watching on a big screen.

10/10 from me !
