In a Dark Place
(2005)

A First Rate Horror Shocker
Surprisingly strong performances and good visuals elevate this one location horror yarn about a psychopathic lawyer who takes a group of friends and co-workers hostage and tortures them into confessing their deepest darkest sins.

Told from the point-of-view of one of the hostages, you feel the claustrophobia and torment like one of the prisoners as the urban terrorist executes his "game" of death, dealing out brutal violence and sexual sadism.

Look for the "dream sequence" where 2 overly endowed women appear to tempt the hero.

Both funny and shocking, "In A Dark Place", is not for the faint-of-heart".

Resolution
(2001)

a taut, claustrophobic thriller
Along the lines of "THE STRANGERS" and "FUNNY GAMES", this violent and sexually charged exercise in terror delivers the goods with solid performances all around and a tight screenplay that crackles with realism and the occasional darkly-satisfying laugh.

When a distraught lawyer takes revenge on a group of party-goers on New Years and forces them, at gunpoint, to reveal their deepest, darkest secrets, the effect is both hilarious and gut-wrenching.

Good visuals, action and some interesting sexual intrigue. Be sure to check out the "death dream" temptation sequence with the "angel" and "devil" women, with overly-developed busts, flashing in the hero's face. Funny stuff.

Overall a refreshing take on the one location thriller genre that is rarely bogged down by taking itself too seriously.
