The Poker Club
(2008)

Very Good
I gave this one a 6/10 because of the twists involved. It was a very enjoyable movie, moved along very well, the actors were very good.

With all of the trash out on the market now days, its nice to see a good drama that catches your attention and keeps it.

I am not much for drama, but this is one I would recommend. I feel it will be one of the best missed movies of 2009.

Johnathon Schaech is riveting in this role.

I know that most of the critics will give this one a low score just because there are no big names in it, but don't let that miss-lead you... This is a good movie to watch, not a waste of time or money.

Taking Chance
(2009)

(Salute)--- Truly amazing.
A truly majestic film.

I have NEVER given a movie a 10, until now.

If you are looking for an action packed, Heart Pounding edge of your seat ride -- This is "NOT" the movie for you.

If you are interested in a truly heart touching, tear rendering, emotional jounce at every turn then you've just hit the mother load. This is the most unforgettable movie of our times.

I am a former Military person, U. S. Navy. I have served my country and lost many friends, (brothers in arms). Seeing the remarkable kindness and honor in which our men & women of our freedom fighters are handled makes me so proud to be an American. To see this emotion presented upon the screen like this is a magnificent undertaking. Very well done! My hats off to everyone that was involved in the making of this touching film.

Kevin Bacon has really reached a level that I never imagined him doing. Simply remarkable.

Real Time
(2008)

What Has Happened to the Film Industry?
I noticed a posting "Best film of the Toronto Film Festival" -- now that had to be one of the WORST film Festivals I have EVER heard of.

Randy Quaid and Jay Baruchel did their jobs as far as the acting goes, but come on??????? --- wheres the story? There is no way on this green earth that a hard ass hit man is going to go that route.

This was boring, long drawn out BS.... another total waste of time. -- What is with the film industry today? Has our economy gotten so bad that they have to stoop to low budget crap to infiltrate the market just to give us something to watch? Jeeeezzzzzzz Come ON PLEASE!!!!!!!.

How can anyone give this a 10?

3 at best.

Nothing But the Truth
(2008)

Intence political thriller with attitude
This rates up very high on my scale as one of the better movies of 2008. Its not written as though a high and mighty political messenger wrote it, yet you do not have to look to deep to find the meaning. The star studded cast of Matt Dillon, Alan Alda and Kate Bechinsale brings out the qualities that was needed to make this type of film truly majestic.

The intense vigor of how the prosecuting attorney played by Matt Dillon, (which I first thought was going to be way out of character for him, but he pulled it off so effectively that he now has a new fan), actually attacks our protagonist is so real and matter of fact.

Being based on a true story helps in the matter of believability and the injustice of our justice system.

8/10

In the Electric Mist
(2009)

Drama at its Finest
Dave Robicheaux is brought to life by Tommy Lee Jones. His portrayal of this character is so admirable its scary. Its like he is him... no questions, no doubts, he makes every little detail seam so smooth and traditional that to question his abilities is just not feasible.

The story line is truly original, the slight twists, and turns. The way the director and the writer makes the unbelievable believable is just great.

The movie just flowed in such a manner that it was not just entertaining, but NEVER boring and dull. The dialect was leading and had meaning.

A truly great film to watch if you like Drama's. Don't expect a knock down drag out action film. This is a down to earth movie with true emotions which make you think of your ethics.

Very enjoyable.

6/10

XIII: The Movie
(2008)

Action Packed and Continuous
I love the show 24. This is close but not a duplicate --

I love the movies of Bourne Identity, again close but no cigar.

This is an original story line depicted in the make-up of a very talented director and writer.

If you want action, adventure, excitement, intrigue then this is the movie for you. I don't understand all of the negative feed back on this movie. I really enjoyed it.

Its a lot better than most of the so called action adventure movies out so far.

Thumbs up -- 8/10

Deep Winter
(2008)

Amateurish At best
I had high hopes for this movie. The cinematography is great. This had an opportunity to be a great film.

Poor scripting, bad dialogue and second hand acting really put this one in the crapper. I think the best part of this movie is on the editing floor.

The feel of the movie is very slow, the romance depicted is so boring no one in their right mind would put up with that.

One saving grace is the sound track -- awesome music, very little good action shots.

I will give credit where credit is due -- Very good photography and some awesome skiing.

Very Amateurish for a movie.

3 / 10

Ghost Town
(2008)

A Wonderful Delight
Not original -- but has a great spin off -- story flows very well -- the comedy is to die for and the way Ricky Gervais pulls this character off is just downright unbelievable. Believe this -- he makes the character come to life and breaths a breath of fresh air on this remarkable film.

Some parts are funny, some are touching, but none are dull or boring. This film captivated me the entire time. Its not action packed, its not full of drama, its a premium blend of all of the above with more added in.

Very well worth seeing -- I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes a good comedy with a little bit of love involved.

Wanted
(2008)

Fiction - Very good watch
I've spent some time out of my life reading the ridiculous postings of a very few idiots. Someone that would watch a "MOVIE", and expect believability in everything you see, must not watch many movies. The very first thing you learn in any course on literature, writing, movie making, story telling etc.. is you "MUST" suspend the audiences belief behaviors.

This being said, this movie is a very good example of just that. They don't pretend for this to be "From The Real World" or "Based on a True Story" etc.. they immediately let you "KNOW" without a shadow of a doubt that your belief in reality "WILL" be questioned. -- the man jumping from the window, firing and hitting with each shot.... hahahahah...

If you like to be entertained, thrilled, to be on the edge of your seat with anticipation... then this is a very good watch for you.

I give it a 7 out of 10....

Gran Torino
(2008)

A Movie Worth The Money - Finally!
Clint Eastwood is a legend in his own time. From Rowdy Yates in Raw hide, to the spaghetti westerns of Italy to the major motion pictures of Hollywood and now he is responsible for producing and directing and starring in movies such as "Million Dollar Baby", and "Gran Tarino".

With supporting actors like Bee Vang (Thao Vang Lor) and Ahney Her (Sue Lor) who's acting was superb, together with a touching, yet strong conviction, and emotional story line -- he can't go wrong.

Granted, this movie is not for someone wanting to see a gang movie with solid action and shoot-outs. This is basically a scenario that (Could) happen in real life, a drama with impact.

If you do not watch this film, you will be depriving yourself of one of this years most touching and inspirational movies to come out of Hollywood. Finally, a movie worth the money.

I would give this one a 10 for 10 but I don't give a 1 or a 10 so this rates 9 out of 10.

Passengers
(2008)

A very good watch
Though there are similarities in this film to others, ie... not completely original... it is a very good, very touching movie. It has its moments of intensity, its greatness in the acting and directing. Its not a classic, but with all of the mediocre works that are out there to take your money, this is one that would NOT be a waste of your time.

I would highly recommend this film if you are into suspense, drama, intrigue of any nature.

There are certain aspects that are left open, but so minor that it doesn't distract from the impact of the movie.

All in all -- a very good watch.

Seven Pounds
(2008)

Shakespeare of today.
If this movie doesn't touch every sentimental nerve in your body and reach to the core of your soul, you are not human. This movie will touch your heart in places you never knew existed. Each of us has seen those movies that reach deep within and cause the light tear to seep out of corner of our eyes and we quickly wipe it away and hope no one sees us. You will indeed be seen crying on this one. You will need a box of tissues. I do not know how or what the so called self critics are seeing, but I don't think it's the same movie I just finished watching. Yes it's a little slow, but its real…. This is a human in tune with what he wants and doesn't let ANYTHING stop him from completing what he started. It's a Shakespeare tragedy in today's society. A movie you should definitely see. 9 out of 10.

Changeling
(2008)

An Emotional Adventure
Do you want to see a good movie? -- One that will tear at your every emotion, make you so mad you tread territory inside of yourself you never knew existed, and then make you cry as if someone reached in and tore your heart right out?

Do you want twists and turns at every juncture taking you in so many different directions that you think your lost and then instantly you know exactly where you are? -- an adventure in the waiting.

This movie is a movie that delivers. It even surpasses the delivery of you everyday Hollywood movie.

I loved this movie -- Its based on an actual account.

Its a must see.

Twilight
(2008)

A True Original Tale
I came about seeing this Movie totally by accident. A friend of mine had just hooked up his 55" Big Screen TV, Suround Sound, and wanted to test it with a great movie --- he found Twilight. Now I'm not much on the movies of Vampires & Werewolves or Zombies, but this one was a very pleasant surprise. Original, captivating, and surprisingly had an intense aura throughout the entire film.

I gave this movie a 6 due to the dimness and sometimes jumpy filming, but not due to the content of the film. It is a grade "A" feature with very outstanding acting from ALL of the actors. I would not hesitate recommending this feature film to anyone. (Highly Recommended)

The Midnight Meat Train
(2008)

"ALL ABOARD" -- "Next Stop --- Hell"........
Clive Barker is awesome -- This ride begins with a dark eerie feel and takes you by surprise in so many different areas.

The CGI isn't as bad as most puts out -- as a matter of fact -- I think this is a very good use of the CGI...

Once you see the introduction murder -- what most refer to as the Hammer scene -- you will not want to leave your seat. You just can't wait to see whats going to happen next, then when you do --- its a ride you'll never forget -- This is one for the books.... Next Stop -- Hell --because the twilight zone has nothing on this train ride.

7 out of 10 and I'm not one to give a 7 on most movies.

See it for yourself -- If you are a fan of horror -- If not -- then steer clear -- its definitely NOT for you!!!!!!!!!!!

See you at the movies.

Where to Begin!!!
Let me see --- I just finished watching this movie.

I'm still pondering the after effects.

Its definitely a movie to see, its slow, methodical and quite unique.

There are some very touching moments, funny moments and some very real moments.

Its not a movie I would watch again, but one I'm glad I took the time to see once.

This is one you will have to judge for yourself. I gave it a 4.

Most people won't like this movie because it doesn't pertain to violence, action, horror -- its a Drama of a real life situation for a lady, a family, a brother, a uncle.

Righteous Kill
(2008)

True to Style
True to their style De Niro & Pacino put forth an award winning performance. I truly enjoyed this movie.

I was however surprised to see so many negative reviews. With all of the trash that is infiltrating the movie industry at this time, this is a diamond of a movie. Well written, well directed, its a little dark in places, the sound is variable, but other than those minor issues, this is definitely a must see.

I gave it a 7, and for me to give a movie a 7, (check my record) is very hard to acquire.

I watch a movie, THEN I read the reviews. I do not let someone dictate to me how I should "Feel" about a movie prior to seeing it. If I had my way, I wouldn't even watch trailers prior to seeing the movie, they tend to lead you to believe in one way, when in reality the movie is completely different. Therefore -- what good are they, just as "what good" is a review that you do NOT agree with? Watch for yourself and make up your own mind.

(2008)

Another Waste of Time
This Movie, is in the worst "B"-Grade Horror Movie Catagorie. The plot is based off of an Old 1950's show created by Rod Serling "The Twilight Zone" (IMO)-- Ventriloquist dummy is alive -- this does have a little more ridiculous, stupid, and down right very quickly forgotten atrocities. --Some one taking on police force.

An abductee, running through the woods trying to escape a crazy shot-gun toting, crazed maniac, then all of a sudden wow -- there's a saloon -- what luck!!!!!!

Give me chuckie any day -- and I didn't like that movie either -- But it was hands down a 10 over this one.

Waste of time -- I gave it a 2!!!

The Longshots
(2008)

Very Good True Story
I gave this movie a 6 due to the fact of the touching true nature and the way it was directed.

This "accident" actually happened, she was the very first female quarter back to play in the Warner Super Bowl...

It takes you to places most of us want to either forget, or never experienced, it lets you see the emotional turmoil of true life events..

The sport shots are standard Hollywood and normally very seldom actually happen on the field but there has to be some substance to the movie to make the story move along so well.

I liked it... Hope you do.

Lone Rider
(2008)

Not too Bad
Normally I'm not one to watch a lot of Lou Diamond Philip movies due to the fact that I'm just not one of his fans and really do NOT particularly like the way he acts.

To give credit where credit is due, I will say that this is a good western for modern times.

I've watched such bad westerns that were put out with glowing reviews and was just stunned to see the trash thats out there. Here is just one example:

6 Reasons Why -- the worst of the worst --Don't waste your time on that one, there are others - This however, is one that was not a waste of time for a western.

I gave it a 5 because I did enjoy watching a new western. Its nothing new, no new story line, a Hero, Villains, and a couple of women to make it interesting.

True Assessment
OK, I have read EVERY word of EVERY posting and EVERY Review I could find on this movie after watching the entire production. --

Honestly this is NOT a waste of time movie. It is NOT however a "Good" movie -- the acting is just not there (believability), I do however agree that the cinematography is very good. Not one of the actors actually made me feel they were comfortable with their rolls and each had to struggle to acquire their feel....

I only WATCH movies online -- and do NOT download them, but I do give my HONEST opinion of a movie -- so the pirating doesn't pertain to me.

Once again -- the movie is NOT a waste of time -- but not "Good". I gave it a 3 because it actually has some merit and they do not have a 3.5.

I lived in Arkansas for a very long time, and do today, graduated from ASU in '78. It is that beautiful of a place, but the people are NOT that STUPID. There are many intelligent individuals in Arkansas. I did however enjoy the part of -- "Charley" as played by Alex Moody. His was probably the ONLY believable character in the film.

Summer Love
(2006)

Utter Waste Of Time Atrocious
I do NOT understand why anyone would waste their time or money on utter trash like this... Don't get me wrong -- I LOVE a good Western -- Notice I said "GOOD" -- this is just trash

The acting is horrible -- Val Kilmer must know someone or owed a favor or something for them just to use his face and name in this ridiculous piece of crap...

To those of you who enjoyed this movie, I am making a list of you're names to ensure I do NOT watch anything you suggest -- our tastes are definitely different, yet it is your right to voice your opinion, no matter how far off base it is.

I gave this movie a 2 just in case they do throw out all of the one's and not count them.... Just bad in all area's...

LA Blues
(2007)

Hummmm
I've read some of the reviews prior to watching this movie. Most of them say its a good movie to watch. I do agree with that statement. The actors were excellent, the directing was great -- but the storyline hummmmmm.

I went away feeling kind of cheated. Its a bit like a Soap Opera that really never gets to the point. -- Don't get me wrong -- I did enjoy the trials and tribulations that the characters went through, the tight bond of friendship, and the inadequacies of their lives. Yet I just feel there should have been something else, something substantial to emanate from the frustrations, and difficulties that they went through.

All in all its not a waste of time. I gave it a strong 5 due to the fact that I did enjoy it, even though it leaves you feeling a bit empty. I also like all of the actors in this film, a strong cast but a weak story ending.

Meet Dave
(2008)

Rather Enjoyable
There have been many movies put out over the last couple of years that are really a waste of time. This one is NOT. It is enjoyable --

It has comedy -- creativeness -- fun -- and its fun for the whole family, which sometimes is hard to find now days, even in Disney's world.

We rather enjoyed the film, its not one of todays top of our list by any means, but its no where near the bottom either.

I would give it a chance and make your own call. If you like family oriented films ie... "The Haunted Mansion" .. " -- "Wall-E" -- "Willy Wonka" then you'll like Dave --

Give it a chance -- its a good family movie, even with all of the bad reviews.

Cactus
(2008)

Not Bad - Like Bone Dry
This is not a bad movie --

not a good one -- kind of slow in places --

Standard Ausie Out-Back movie -- some parts are like Bone Dry --

others remind you of Wolf Creek -- Both of the characters played did a remarkable job in keeping you interested in the long journey --

It was rather cool how Rosco (Bryan Brown) took care of his friend Thommo (Shane Jacobson)...

All in all not a waste of time -- but not an on the edge of your seat thrill either.

You be the judge of this one. I gave it a 6 because they didn't supply a 5 & a half.
