Platinum End
(2021)

The Magnum Opus of the Dynamic Duo
Platinum End is the third title of Death Note & Bakuman's creators, Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata.

After the adult supernatural noir and the chaotic but harsh universe of the manga/comics creators, T. O. T. O. came back with VENGEANCE!

Platinum End is a mindblowing and massive story, with almost every genre dropping by. From supernatural and slice-of-life to noir, horror, even superhero.

The God is dying and sends 13 angels to find the most suitable and unique new host. And because each angel has also unique characteristics, each candidate mirrors the angel's values. Keep this in mind, with many references to the suicidal tendences.

The result is an awesome epic, which many shall characterize as blasphemous, brilliant or confusing.

Must watch!

Death Note < Bakuman < Platinum End.

Kidô senshi Gandamu: Suisei no majo
(2022)

A hot mess
Gundam: Witch From Mercury is a brand new entry in Gundam multiverse, by the creator of the incredible Code Geass.

And it is another flop.

Witch From Mercury takes place in a new timeline, where Colonists have the upper hand and Earth has lost. But the main antagonists are not generals or emperors, but... Companies. One company discovers a Gundarm, a secret weapon and tries to use it against the other Companies.

But let us forget all of this and switch the entire show to a space high school for Mobile Suit pilots, who fight for a tournament and marriage rights!

The first season was so boring to watch, between the second and the penultimate episode, that you can even skip 10 episodes and lose nothing. It has a promising cliffhanger, out of nowhere and...then Season 2 happens, which tries to make up for the crappy first season. And fails miserably.

Even the stellar animation and the production can not ultimately make up for the messy story and the finale is fully rushed.

Personally, after I've watched every Gundam (except AGE), Witch is by far one of the bottom 5 Gundam anime series. It is forgettable, boring and another fail attempt by Ichiro Okouchi in mecha genre, after the incredibly bad Code Geass alternate sequels.

Megaro bokusu: Megalo Box
(2018)

A must watch anime, with a bad sequel
Megalo Box is an incredible anime, with amazing realistic art, pumping full on steroids! The first season is phenomenal!

But the second season, although it starts strong, gets tiredsome very quickly, leading me to say "stay at the first season, Nomad was unneeded."

Halo Infinite
(2021)

Halo Soft Reboot
Halo OO was the ending of an incredibly disappointing trilogy.

343 took a gem and turned it into a cash grab, based on the gameplay.

At Halo 4, they took away flood and make Cortana bad.

At Halo 5, they took away the traditional coop in campaign and the solid storytelling, making John the bad guy.

At Halo 6, they made a solid open world game, which played incredibly minimal role into the campaign and made a reboot-ish story, incredibly badly written.

Now, I hope that a serious studio will take the franchise. 343 was a big letdown and Halo deserves a lot more than a solid gameplay and good multi. Although the multi is still in beta stage and has many issues and suffers from microtransactions and loot drops.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage
(2021)

Let there be mess
Venom 2 is the third movie, where Sony fails to adapt Venom.

This movie gets some important comic elements and vomits a cocktail of a pride mess.

With Fant4stic, one of the worst comic movies ever created.

Worth watching only for the credits scene.

Transformers: War for Cybertron
(2020)

Another Disappointment
After the absurd trilogy of Combiner Wars/Titans Return/Power Of The Primes, where we got some stupid fights, a cool Megatron and some fan favorites wasted, that animation studio took Netflix badget and made ANOTHER ABSURD TRILOGY!!!

The premise was more solid this time, at least at first. Autobots vs Decepticons fighting THE WAR. But...with...extremely...long...pauses...while...talking. The first half of Siege was boring, the second half had amazing fights.

Then came Earthrise. A mindfrag with some random fan favorites, with the Arc and the Nemesis flying through space to reach somewhere. Let's assume it was Earth. Then Galvatron happened.

And now, KINGDOM. With a VERY strong first half, thanks to the Beast Wars, although the new Megatron had AWFUL voice acting, like a kid, and a messy second half, leaving a bit of cliffhanger.

Now, please, do not make another trilogy. Enough is enough. The only really good thing that came from these disasters are the amazing rebooted toylines. But as far as the series are concerned, watch at your own risk.

And then watch the amazing Cyberverse!

SSSS.Dynazenon
(2021)

Borefest
Dynazenon is the second installation to "revive" super robots, after the good Gridman.

The only good thing is the very nice animation, although the cgi has some chaotic blurry moments. But the plot. Is there?

Every episode is even more boring than the last one and the finale leaves you pondering whether Trigger will ever release something decent after so many mediocrities...

There's Something About Mary
(1998)

There's something wrong about this Movie
Beyond stupid comedy, with vulgar & extremely awfully based on stereotypes, slapstick humor.

Just one of the worst comedies ever made.

Music
(2021)

Visual Barf
3 Golden Raspberries are too little for this mess.

Everything is wrong. Photography, direction, acting. It's like the worst videoclip any pop star could make and simultaneously offend every autistic alive.

Angolmois: Genkou Kassenki
(2018)

Awful
Genkou Kassenki is a historic drama with extremely bad writing, awful animation and a very irritating book texture over everything, all the time.

Also, it definitely was released in 2020, in order to get some attention due to Ghost Of Tsushima game.

Cat People
(1982)

Not even a cult
Cat People is a miss on many levels. And it's really bad,

The direction is good, the actors and actresses play decent and the soundtrack is magnificent. But it all fails due to the extremly slow flow and the extremely badly written plot.

Just listen to the awesome ost and miss this snoozefest.

How to Talk to Girls at Parties
(2017)

One of the worst adaptations Ever
How to Talk to Girls at Parties is a very loose adaptation of the Gaiman's book, that was also adapted into a wonderful graphic novel.

The original story is mysterious, poetic and a very unique experience. In this adaptation you get a mess, in all regards, from photography to costumes and direction.

Avoid at all costs. Only the soundtrack is kinda decent...

Apostratos
(2019)

An ok movie
"Defunct" is one of the best greek productions the latest years. The acting is great, the audio is stellar, in contrast to most Greek movies where you cannot hear the actors talking, but it falls very short in the story department.

The movie takes place in 2011-2012, during the economic crisis, where the grandson of a dead major moves to his grandfather's house, in Papagou, a post-WW2/Civil War suburb which is forgotten in time. There, he tries to make some money, while learning some dirty secrets about his ancestor.

The ending was, unfortunately, very abrupt and we never learn how the protagonist is going to survive, although the majority of the film was his story, with some fragments of grandpa's story.

Fame
(1980)

No real fame in there
Subpar writing and average performances do not give a reason to watch this slowburnt drama musical.

Just listen to Irene Cara's great song instead.

Akudama Drive
(2020)

One of the best sci-fi anime ever!
Akudama Drive takes place at a dystopian society in Far East, after a nuclear war destroyed everything. Akudama are the cons and villains of this city, while there is a special police force called the executioners.

A mysterious cat hires some akudamas, in order to rob a holy train, which goes to another city, where all the rich and privilege people live.

It's a rollercoaster with violence, drama, suspence and amazing action, that never, never stops. A true "child" of Blade Runner, Elysium, 1984 and Tron, which succeeds where Cyberpunk fails.

By far one of the best series of this decade and I would definitely nominate it for one of the best sci-fi anime ever made! A delightful surprise, God bless you Gigguk!

G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout
(2020)

Fan service and nothing else
An utterly repetitive third person shooter. Only the stop motion cutscenes are well made and they offer you a lot of fan service with the majority of '80s Joes making an appearence.

Also, play it only on co-op, the AI teammate is brainless.

Karigurashi no Arietti
(2010)

A beautiful nothing
Just another Ghibli movie, with very good production value, but especially slow plot. Nothing really happens in this wannabe fairytale.

E_mail
(2000)

Another awful ripoff
E-Mail is just a cheap rip-off of the famous movie "You've Got Mail", using good production, some known actors and Mikro for the o.s.t.

The result is a borefest, a cheap slice-of-life movie, with no interest whatsoever, which leaves its mark to the valley of dead movies, in the golden "PASOK" era.

The only value here, is the soundtrack. Especially the end credits song.

Blood of Zeus
(2020)

Disgraceful
Blood of Zeus is one more try, of the infamous brothers Parlapanides, to adapt something and fail miserably.

After Immortals and one of the worst animanga adaptation, Death Note, they tried to adapt Gigantomachia, but with demons and robots.

Writing is non-existent, the character assasination is all over the place and not even the art itself is that good, not mentioning the animation itself which is very sloppy and poorly directed.

Do not bother. As they should, too.

Transformers: Battlegrounds
(2020)

Must play!
Battlegrounds, although made in Unity and mainly for mobile devices, is along with Devastation, one of the best animation based games ever made.

All the cast, lines and music is there, along with x-com styled gameplay.

Sonic the Hedgehog
(1993)

Sonic the Freedom Fighter
"Satam" is well praised for its dark tone and more "adult" feeling.

But most characters, especially Antoine, are one of the worst characters ever written.

The plot is just repetitive, the soundtrack is out of place and the aftertaste you get is that you have watched the bad Zelda animated but with Batman/Gargoyles "adult" wannabe themes.

Avoid at all cost, the channel was right to cancel this Batman-wannabe series.

Watch the splendid Sonic Adventures instead and have a blast!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
(1987)

A must from '80s
TMNT was the first animated adaptation from the dark parody comic by Kevin Eastman. It is focused in children and adults that want to have fun watching delicious adventures of 4 mutant ninja turtles, against alien forces and other ninjas, with epic soundtrack and awesome lines such as "wake up and smell the pizzas".

This last until the 7th season, because seasons 8-10 are a mess, trying to replicate the darkness and edgyness of other famous animated series in '90s, such as Batman and Gargoyles.

If you want something more adult, the next adaptations will be more to your liking. But TMNT '87 will always be the best pizza.

Steins;Gate 0
(2018)

Do not bother with this mess
Steins;Gate0 takes place after the alternative 23rd episode of the main series, that was released years later, where Cristina dies and Mayuri lives.

In every godforsaken episode, SG0 is struggling to live with itself, because it is an indifferent timeline. So, it gives us some new indifferent characters, mixed with our beloved ones, who are not that well written, a lot of fan service, up to the point to reach even harem levels and of course, some minor connections with the good series, called Steins;Gate. The ending is so messy, that any rational being would believe that writers did not know what would do and reach to a conclusion to erase the whole series. As our brains should do.

SG0 is a mess that gets a 0/10. Stay with the show, it is even worse than the movie.

Fragtime
(2019)

Drag Out: The Movie
Fragtime is a unique experience, but could be so much more.

Very good art, animation and interesting story that could be cohesive in 20'.

Instead, we get almost one hour for a short story.

Genius
(2017)

Picasso ruined the series
The first season, with Einstein, is phenomenal, with great acting, coherent writing and must watch.

The second season, with Picasso, is boring, poorly written, poorly executed and the acting is like a bad copy of the first season's acting.

So, watch the first season and stay there. That is the real Genius.
