Magic Mike's Last Dance
(2023)

Mike goes bust...
The beginning was tantalizing. We find Mike working bartending gigs in Miami, Florida & he gets RECOGNIZED from his previous profession. Mike then gets hired for a six thousand dollar dance, which turns into a little more... The middle was a snooze fest. Mike gets whisked away to London for a sixty thousand dollar payday for a month of work doing what - he has no idea.... Turns out to be directing a dance show, to get back at an ex & his family. Which all leads to the big build up of will the show actually go on as planned? The last dance was pretty phenomenal intercut with scenes from the beginning of the film. But meh. Rewatching the original would have been more entertaining!!

Sing 2
(2021)

Well the soundtrack was good...
Sing 2 oh Sing 2. Where do I start. Not better than the original - no way, no how. We saw the first film in the theater and absolutely loved it. The music was fantastic! The story not so much. I even found a few of the characters to be grating.

This is a children's film and the wolf repeatedly threatens to drop Buster off the skyscraper?!? We might have been better off if this script stayed in the drawer.

My advice would be to skip watching this film. Go and rewatch the first one. But DO listen to the soundtrack! Dance, singalong, and enjoy the tunes. Fantastic job to the folks that arranged the songs for the film.

Christmas Belle
(2013)

Bless their hearts...
Beauty & the Beast themed Christmas movie. Shirtless "prince" running around, cute dog named "Beast". IsaBELLE lover of rare books & libraries. Irritating Gaston trope character Tony. It was a cute movie, but could have been much better!

Holly & Ivy
(2020)

Librarian & Bookmobile themed Christmas Movie!!
Awesomesauce! There were definitely some things that are not realistic, but it's a movie about libraries & a bookmobile - so we'll just ignore those things.

Make sure you have tissues, I knew what was coming as soon as the mother passed out the first tim.

Bonus points for Broadway actor Jeremy Jordan.

Cute if you can suspend belief!

Dashing in December
(2020)

Diversity Points!
Directed by & starring Andi MacDowell this Christmas rom-com centers on her son returning from the big city & ranch hand that meet & at first can't stand each other. Eventually sparks fly... but will they be able to save the ranch & make it profitable? It's about time there are inclusionary Christmas movies!! Way to go Lifetime!

Christmas Ever After
(2020)

Bravo for Diversity!
I have loved Ali Stroker since she guest starred on Glee & then she made it to Broadway in the revival of Oklahoma! Ali stars as a romance writer that is unlucky in love, but then stumbles upon a man that looks exactly like the artwork on her novels. Is this swooning hero for real? Cute holiday story!

If I Only Had Christmas
(2020)

Loved all the Oz References!
I'll admit several of the CCB movies have grated my last nerve, I swear some years they churn them out like butter! But this one was different, I actually liked it. Once I realized there were continuous references to the Wizard of Oz, it was a game to ferret them out. I would actually watch it again, because I think I missed some of the nuggets in the beginning of the film! Cute, funny. A Christmas movie experience like Where's Waldo trying to find all the Ozian Threads!

Feliz NaviDAD
(2020)

Festive Fun!
Cute & Funny. Directed by Melissa Joan Hart who also cameos centers on David played by Mario Lopez as a single dad with a teenage daughter. At the urging of both his daughter & sister David begins dating with comedic results. Look for a cameo of Mario's wife as the mother that hits on him!

Mulan
(2020)

Better than expected...
Well it wasn't as bad as I was anticipating! That said when you remove the music, plucky sidekick, & love interest you remove the heart of the movie.

The added characters didn't add anything exceptional & the ones omitted were sorely missed.

Zombeavers
(2014)

Starring no one you know!
So bad it's good...

Beavers that turn into zombie's & stupid college students that didn't leave when they had the chance! Chaos ensues..

Wild in the Country
(1961)

Bottom of the Barrell
Quite possibly the worst in the Elvis movie pantheon!

Change of Habit
(1969)

Elvis as a doctor...
Then he meets undercover nuns. Gritty urban realism. Quite the departure from singing, frolicking free-wheeling Elvis from so many of his other movies!

Easy Come, Easy Go
(1967)

Elvis tries Yoga!
Recently former Navy Frogman spies buried treasure on one of his last official Navy dives. Meets local artist hippie & goes for the gold, but others are out to double cross him & get the treasure first!

Harum Scarum
(1965)

Elvis in harem pants!
Billed as Arabian Nights a GO GO! Wow, they just kept churning these out didn't they...

Charro!
(1969)

Western Elvis
Outlaw Elvis tries to go straight & get the girl, but the bad guys don't want to let him go!

Live a Little, Love a Little
(1968)

Odd..
The psychedelic dream sequence was too much. That whole song with the talking dog...

Kid Galahad
(1962)

Boxing Elvis!
Fresh out of the Army & returning to Cream Valley, NY the main character stumbles into a boxing gig & turns out to be quite good!

Elvis: The Great Performances: Vol. 1: Center Stage
(1990)
Episode 1, Season 1

Original Footage
Great! Original footage of some of Elvis first known performances. Loved the trivia track.

The Gentlemen
(2019)

Too much language!
Caper told in a roundabout way with a whole lot of vulgar language. If that doesn't bother you dive on in! Fantastic cast, but the crass language eventually became too much for even me.

Center Stage
(2000)

Enjoyable Enough
Great music. Great Dancing. A whole lot of cheese!

Jumanji: The Next Level
(2019)

Enjoyable
Family friendly action flick. If you've been a fan of the previous films, you'll enjoy this one!

Richard Jewell
(2019)

Oh the media...
Clint Eastwood brings to light the horrible treatment Richard Jewell endured from the media & the FBI during the Atlanta Olympic Bombing.

Gisaengchung
(2019)

Jaw Drop
Wow. Definitely deserved the Best Picture Win at the Oscars!

Totally not what I thought it was going to be. But great, despite having to read the subtitles the whole film..

The Emperor's New Groove
(2000)

No Touchy!
The internet memes that are based on the movie might just be funnier than the movie itself. I don't automatically equate David Spade with Disney kid's movie for good reason. Parts were funny, but as a whole meh. It's taken me almost 20 years to see this movie & I didn't miss much...

You're Bacon Me Crazy
(2020)

Horrible Writing!
Abominable!

Who uses phrases like, "Off to get my cut & curl!" Let alone refer to big brother & little brother repeatedly once they are in their 30s...

Ugh. I came for the food truck themed movie...but it was mostly horrific!

Hallmark continues to go downhill swiftly..
