Bumblebee
(2018)

IT IS NOT THE BEST TRANSFORMERS MOVIE!!!!
Okay, it's been a while since I last reviewed a film. I made an oath that wouldn't watch anymore Transformers movies as they have all failed and were complete disasters. The reason I say this is because I'm 41. I loved the Transformers cartoons back in the 80's and I wished they would make a movie based on the original show with the robots looking like the cartoon but Michael Bay flushed that all down the toilet. So.... I found that this one had a 7.1 rating on IMDB and very positive reviews claiming that this was the best Transformers movie of ALL time. So I decided to give it a go. The first 10 minutes of the movie were pure magic and joy. The war on Cibertron, Optimus looking like Optimus, Soundwave with his tapes, Shockwave with his voice.... I mean it had every potential to be an epic movie. Then ... well .... I was trying not to fall asleep for the remaining 85 minutes. The movie was soooo boring, acting was horrible especially by Jon Cena (and don't get me started on THAT solute at the end where I felt I wanted to actually slap myself). What disappoints me so much is how hard is it to make a Transformer movie that is based on the comics or cartoons like the MCU or DC?? Bottom line, I don't hate movies based on being overrated or overhyped by others. This film is just bad.

Wayward Pines
(2015)

Sorry, I Can't Take It Anymore!!!!
This show got me hooked and excited thru the first 3 episodes, or just before the 3rd episode's ending. Then I just felt as if the people writing this just got midway and thought; "hey, let's change the story to something absolutely stupid!". Then came episode 5 (the highest rated episode of the season so far), and I was like "yeah....OK....like that all adds up". I don't like shows that completely disrespect my human brain and my ability to try to fill up the million plot holes in this show. A simple example is this: We are to believe that all people in Wayward Pines have been chosen, kidnapped and put in the freezer for 2000 years at different times in a 10 year frame, which explains why some people aged and some have not. OK, THAT I can live with but please answer this: How did Terissa and Ben end up there?! In 2014 her husband had an accident and disappeared (the cover up for his kidnapping), she managed to find Wayward Pines and met the Sheriff who was supposed to be just a security officer at the time, then was in an accident and there u go,,, off to Wayward Pines with a Ford that has been magically preserved for 2000 years. Off to Episode 7, a bomb barely the size of a tissue box which is supposed to take down a concrete fence put in the back of a truck kills the driver but doesn't kill 2 kids barely 5 feet away. Again, "Yeah....OK". I really tried to like the show, I like mysteries and not knowing what's going on but this show is too much.

Homeland: There's Something Else Going On
(2014)
Episode 9, Season 4

A Great November
I have to say that I was really losing hope on this show since the beginning of season 4. I was very disappointed throughout the first 5 episodes.

But since "From A to B and Back Again", it's been outstanding. Not only are the last 4 episodes the best in the season, they even make this season the best in the whole series. Something that couldn't have seemed possible without Brody but seriously, well done!

"There's something else going on" is the cherry on top. A 45 minute ride of a thrilling, amazing, clever, tense and nail biting episode.

4 episodes in one great month beginning from the 2nd to the 24th. Indeed this is Homeland's best.

The Citizen
(2012)

The True Colors of Arabs
What I really liked about this film is that it really embraces the true colors of Arabs in general and especially Muslims. The horrible stereotypes that always picture Islam as the "terror religion" have become so annoying these days that I try to avoid any movies that tell stories of Arab terrorists.

Egyptian actor, Khaled ElNabawy plays a very believable Ibrahim who is a Lebanese immigrant coming to the US in search of the American dream. I have to say that I'm Egyptian and never was a fan of Khaled ElNabawy, but this film showed me what a great actor he is with his solid performance. The rest of the cast were also great but the main role was outstanding making you feel every step of suffering this guy went through.

Of course, this movie isn't a movie to go down in history books as a great film but it's more like a message being sent especially to most Americans who unfortunately don't really know that much about other cultures and religions. In general, if you are a Muslim, Persian, Indian or certainly an Arab; you will find this film very satisfying.

I gave it a 7 because of some flaws and plot holes noticed throughout the film, usually I point them out, but this time I'm going to let it go.

The Wolverine
(2013)

So Boring, So Stupid, So Lame
Another disaster in the world of cinema. Is it too hard these days to make a good movie?! I'm not going to point out the infinite number of flaws, goofs and plot holes in this ridiculous film as many of the other critics already described those in detail for you. But what hurt me most is that some people actually think that this piece of sh*t movie is good. One guy even said it was better than Man of Steel! Man of Steel was certainly not a masterpiece but compared to this it was pure Shakespeare poetry.

Movie makers have ran out of new ideas for movies. The Dark Knight franchise aside, all superhero movies have become crap. Period. Hugh Jackman does make a good Wolverine and I love the guy, but this was his worst film. Story was so lame it could have been on Cartoon Network.

For nearly half the film we have a Wolverine with no powers which we can't figure out how exactly did that happen, falls in love with an Asian girl (Who's wanted dead by her father) in less than 24 hours, fights a female villain that nobody until now knows why she's being the villain and why she pealed her skin, performs heart surgery on himself with his bare hands and then fights a super robot which turns out to be grandpa - WOW, AMAZING!!!!

I usually tell people to see the movie and judge for yourself, but this time seriously, try to avoid.

Argo
(2012)

An "OK" Movie at the most
I'm sorry to say that the movie business is being taken down like everything else in the world lately. The great US of A policy is affecting movie making in the worst manner. I guess the next major achievement will be about North Korea. Picturing Iran as a big hell-hole with a population full of thugs, militia, ignorant and anti-American people. When will Hollywood stop these awful stereo-types? Constantly picturing third world civilizations as half-humans. They do it with everybody; Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Jordan and the list goes on and on. You know, these countries have schools, universities, their own movies, all the late technology and are constantly exporting engineers, doctors and scientists to Europe and the US.

The reason I've got angry this time is because this movie won 3 Oscars including best film. It's an "OK" movie. Period. Up until 1996 with Braveheart, the Oscar for best film really meant something. The movies back then really deserved it. In the 17 years after that, I could make piece with only 4 movies on that list; Gladiator, LOTR, Million Dollar Baby and Slumdog Millionaire. But we are being directed towards what they want us to see and believe. The Islamophobia plan is working like hell. My apologies if I deviated a little from the "review mode", but it's time to really think about what we're watching, listening and reading.

A great movie is one that touches you; either by actors performance, music, emotion, action, visuals or even comedy. This one didn't have any of those. A CIA agent with the help of Canada comes up with a plan to rescue 6 American diplomats from Iran during the revolution...you can guess the rest of the movie. Ben Affleck was so boring that I thought maybe being the director he was too exhausted to act.

Finally as I always say; go see it for yourself; if you're American or Canadian you might like it. If you're from any of the other 191 countries recognized by the UN, you will NOT.

Pulp Fiction
(1994)

9 IMDb? Really?
Sorry for the image, but if you take a bowl of crap, rearrange it, put some sugar and a little cherry on top, what to you get? ... a bowl of crap.

This is the most overrated film of all time. I'm even feeling strange to call it a film. It has no story, no feelings, no plot, no music - just 4 different scenes of disgusting, violent, abusive, offending and racist content put together in a mixed sequence.

How this crap scores a 9 on IMDb is beyond me. Sometimes when people see a 9 they automatically deceive themselves into believing this is a masterpiece and that maybe if they didn't like it, something is wrong with their opinion or taste. Nothing's wrong. It's a bad movie from beginning to end. The problem is that sometimes Hollywood movies are over-hyped for business reasons like what happened in Titanic and Avatar which by the way were "OK" movies but didn't deserve the huge credit they received.

I gave this a 1 because Samuel L. Jackson was the only thing interesting in this disaster. I'm not going to tell those of you that haven't seen it not to, you have to go through the experience on your own and make your fare judgment. Don't listen to anyone's opinion - especially the ones that think if you love this one, then you're COOL!

Transformers: Dark of the Moon
(2011)

Why do people hate this movie?!
First of all, I'm 34 years old and as a kid I was a huge Transformers TV show fan. Back in 2007 when they said there will be a transformers film I was kind of excited, I loved the idea. When I went to see the movies I was very very very disappointed. The robots look nothing like the cartoon, the story was different, Megatron's voice was different, Shia LaBeouf was awful - It was a bad movie.

OK, sometimes things can get better, I went to see the second one. By all means those were 2 hours of my life I'll never get back. Transformers 2 was a total disaster. No plot whatsoever, Megan Fox's body was being thrown on us for the film to succeed, about a million goofs and mistakes regarding "the big war in Egypt" - (Believe me, I know, I'm an Egyptian).

I thought of giving Mr.Bay a last chance. I went to the movie with very low expectations and then....WOW. By far the best movie of the trilogy. It had a nice story, some twists, AMAZING CGI - no more shaky cameras, you can now witness every fight in clear detail. The music was fantastic (although ripped off, a little mix between The Dark Knight and Inception). Shia LaBeouf surprisingly was actually good. The movie is a summer blockbuster, it's a two and a half hour thrilling action ride with a lot of scenes that will make you drop your jaw and bite your fingernails. Why do critics hate it? Have no Idea. Please people don't talk about plot holes and wrong scientific facts, this is a movie about talking robots that have feelings, so I think we're already past the scientific and logical point! I gave this an 8 because I had to drop 2 points for the movie's biggest fault - Miss "lips" Rosie - She can't act, I didn't give a damn about her and to be honest, she is NOT hot. Megan was totally HOT.

Don't wait to rent the DVD. You will not waste your money, if you like action, thrilling scenes, have an ear to music and most of all - like the Transformers, go see it.

Clash of the Titans
(2010)

No Clash, No Titans
OK. It's not the worst movie I've ever seen. I've seen a lot of bad film makings this year, so where do we start?? Oh, just for the record, if you witnessed 1981's "Clash of the Titans" you'll understand what I mean. I was just 10 years old when I watched it and it was brilliant - No 3D, no CGI, just a great story with a great ride to be on for 2 hours. When there's a remake of an old movie, it should add some depth, some good acting, some "WOW". There was nothing there. Actors were as if they were reading from a piece of paper learning how to be in a movie; false feelings, false rage, false fear..I didn't care for any of them. Sam Worthington is not a good actor (And I am an Avatar fan), the accent is awful. He shouldn't star in these "block buster" films. The movie is too hollow, too shallow, its just one action scene to another with nothing in between. Definite 5/10 at the most. Rent the DVD, save your money, it doesn't deserve it.

Avatar
(2009)

Thank You Mr. Cameron
This is my first comment on IMDb. The reason I'm writing this is because I just finished reading a bunch of reviews by people giving this a single star claiming that this movie is terrible and boring. Okay, everyone has their own opinion, but seriously?? Never in my life have I gone to a theater 6 times for a single movie. It is visually outstanding. Cameron just puts you in the heart of Pandora as you are literally living there. The use of 3D just adds magic to the experience; you don't need the typical objects popping in your face to enjoy 3D. Every single detail in this epic is amazing down from the tiny flying insects to the giant flying creatures. Music is breathtaking, gives you a rush at many times. I also actually fell in love with Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) as she is without doubt "man of the match". Unfortunately Mr. Cameron has ruined it for me, I went to see Sherlock Holmes, good movie BTW, but I just didn't know how to enjoy it. OK, the acting wasn't top-notch; a lot of cheesy lines and of course an unoriginal storyline. But hey, this is sci-fi/ fantasy film. It's supposed to be action packed and visually stunning. That's the point. Go watch the movie as a very entertaining theatrical 3D experience and don't try to look for plot holes and character development. CGI: never witnessed before, STORY: old, but never before told like this, MUSIC: perfect, JAMES CAMERON: fantastic job. With out a doubt, 10/10. Definitely in my top list along with "The Last Samurai" - imagine that.
