Hamilton

Stunning and Brilliant
WOW speechless after watching this. A true masterpiece. After years of curiosity I can't believe it lived up to and surpassed the intense hype. It really is beyond special and I think everyone should see it. Profoundly moving and extremely entertaining.

A Masterpiece in Every Way
WOW watched this whole thing last night, what a complete masterpiece. I am very curious to see the Theatrical Version to see what was cut, but I can't imagine missing anything from the TV version. Every moment has a purpose and the length gives the story even more profound power. It's absolutely brilliant and hit me harder than anything I've watched in a long time. I would definitely encourage people to seek out this full version if they can.

What Did Jack Do?
(2017)

Hilarious and Strange
Loved this! The script was hilarious and bizarre, and what a "performance" from the monkey. His anxiety was strangely compelling, and the ending was a perfectly strange conclusion.

Awesome!
Really enjoyed this show, wish there was more than 3 episodes! Hopfully we can find out what happens next soon.

The story was interesting and kept me hooked, the cast was really good, especially the main girl! Here's hoping for another season.

Mother!
(2017)

Misunderstood Masterpiece - A must see
I usually don't post reviews but given the massive number of negative reviews here I felt like I had to.

It seems like a lot of people saw that mother! was starring Jennifer Lawrence and assumed it would be their cup of tea, without really knowing what they were getting in to.

It's definitely an assault of sorts on the viewer and not for everyone, but make no mistake, that doesn't mean it's a bad movie.

It's terrifying, hilarious, clever, and completely unique.

Don't read too much about it as the development of the story is part of the fun.

Things get more brutal than expected by the end which is what I think has turned a lot of people so intensely angry at the film, but I think everything that was done was warranted and there a lot of valuable messages to unpack here.

The performances are top of notch by everyone as well. Jennifer Lawrence plays the role perfectly, especially once you've finished the whole story and understand the dynamic. Michelle Pfieffer gives a fantastic performance, I wish she had been used even more. Javier Barden was great, as was Ed Harris and the remaining supporting characters.

Ignore the haters and decide for yourself, but only if you can handle aggressive films.

Splice
(2009)

Terrible Film
I'm really shocked that these movie is getting such positive attention. A friend and I saw an advanced screening a few months ago and it was truly awful. We were laughing at the movie the whole time and couldn't believe how outrageous things got. The movie had way too serious of a tone for such a ridiculous plot. Maybe the finished product is completely different from what we saw, because it makes no sense for the Splice I saw to be getting good reviews.

Sarah Polley and Adrian Brody are normally great actors so I'm really not sure what they were thinking when they signed on for this. Most of the theater was laughing when the movie was over, but I did overhear a few people talking about how amazing it was so who knows if they changed anything. All I know is Splice is a horrible movie and most certainly does not deserve any of the attention it is receiving.

Twin Peaks
(1990)

Pure Genius - Everyone should watch
Twin Peaks is the greatest piece of television or film of all time, in my opinion. Never has anything grabbed my attention so intensely and affected my emotions the way Twin Peaks did.

The mystery of who killed Laura Palmer is the greatest mystery ever, and the conclusion to it will floor you.

However, there are tons of things to love about Twin Peaks other than the central mystery. The large amount of extremely bizarre characters will keep you constantly entertained and even wish you could visit the town of Twin Peaks to meet them all in person.

Twin Peaks is very well done, very funny, very frightening, and very interesting. The story is extremely complex and fascinating, and you will kept swept up quickly in this exciting world. I'm jealous of anyone who's never watched the series because they get the opportunity to experience it all for the first time. Although it really is just as good on subsequent viewings.

10/10!

Orphan
(2009)

Surprisingly Awesome
I thought the movie would be a cheesy but entertaining 2 hours at the movies. I wasn't necessarily wrong, but it was a lot less cheesy than I expected and a lot more shocking.

I know everyone keeps talking about the twist ending, but it really deserves to be talked about. When the marketing campaign featured the statement, "You'll never guess her secret," I remember thinking that was a fairly bold statement to make. Well, they were right. The twist is brilliant and puts this movie into a level higher than it would have been otherwise.

The young girl who played Esther was really incredible. It's a shame she won't get any serious recognition for this movie because I definitely think it was the best acting I've seen all year, and that is quite a feat considering she's only 12 years old. Her performance alone makes this movie worth seeing.
