Argylle
(2024)

This is a generous rating
Such a disappointment.

I expected a decent spy movie and instead got a farcical wannabe comedy.

There was too much 'switching' back and forth which was a bit off putting.

I enjoyed the train sequence and revelation action scene.

Hated the coloured smokescreen action sequence & the skating fighting scenes because they went for far too long.

As clever as these scenes were initially, they wore thin because of the length of them.

Far too drawn out.

The final scenes with the music box annoyed the hell out of me.

The Cat was adorable but the CGI was nasty & cheap.

I was surprised a couple of times by things that were totally unexpected.

Best part of seeing this movie at the Cinema was being with my best friend and eating Boysenberry ice-cream.

Fear
(1996)

I held my breath...
For the last one third of the movie.

It is now mid 2023 and this is the first time I have watched this movie.

Recently Reese Witherspoon said that she was very young and the Director told her about what she had to do in the 'Roller Coaster scene'. She told him 'No', plus it was not scripted. She was made to do it anyway.

Having watched the 'Rollercoaster ride' I can say it did not add one thing to the Movie & has only shown what kind of person the Director was.

This movie was tense right from when Mark was brought into it as Reese's love interest. Reese never stood a chance once Mark's character entered her life.

I found this movie one of the best, most intense & at times heart stopping movie, I have ever watched.

Very well written & acted. Not just for younger people.

FUBAR
(2023)

I love Arnie but...
I could only watch half way into the second episode before I said to myself... This is Cr*p.

The bickering and fighting between Father and daughter just grated after a very short while.

The stupidity of the character Roo's rudeness and childish remarks and actions were not funny or interesting, they were just annoying and superfluous.

People are comparing Stallone & Arnie and their respective TV Series. No contest. Stallone is a better actor than Arnie and his Tulsa King series has been written so well that Tulsa King & FUBAR are like Night and Day.

FUBAR does not require you to engage your brain before watching.

I really wanted to like/love this series but it doesn't have enough going for it.

Arnie is not funny or an action man in this, he is just cranky, at everything and everyone.

It's a 'no more', from me.

Thoroughly enjoyable.
I came in with no expectations and was glued to the screen until the end credits.

I loved the actors. Adam's character, Mills was stoic & determined. Koa, his passenger, played her role very well.

I squealed, swore & jumped in my seat more than a few times.

The fright/scare factor was dialed up because of those damned dinosaurs. Such fun though.

I also cried in parts because of the storyline regarding his daughter Nevine & Koa's circumstances.

Overall an enjoyable and interesting one and a half hours with a decent storyline and excellent CGI.

A movie I will watch more than once, hoping at least to enjoy the bits that made me jump, even more.

I recommend this Movie for Syfy fans and fans of Prehistoric genres with Dinosaurs that are meat eaters.

Wolf Pack
(2023)

Fan of the supernatural
I am a huge fan of Werewolves & Vampires.

Been watching them for many years.

I am an over 60s woman who loves TV & Movies.

When I saw what this TV Series is about I could not wait for it to begin. I have watched all of the Buffy series' and all of the Angel series'. The Twilight Movies, True Blood and many others.

The premise of this huge wildfire awakening something in the forest, is great. Lots of blood and gore in the first episode during the wildfire and the wildlife fleeing for their lives.

The young actors do a great job and I am cheering for their characters' strength and survival.

I found Sarah's acting very stiff and her character very deceitful.

Her acting style hasn't changed much since Buffy but I am interested to see where this goes.

Looking forward to the next episode.

Vikings: Valhalla
(2022)

Binge watched the entire series 2
I love the Vikings series'. This 'Valhalla' series centres on Leif Eriksson.

I enjoy watching the unfolding story of the younger years of the Leif Eriksson.

Having watched every single episode of the 'Vikings' franchise, more than once, I must say the 'Valhalla' series stands alone very very well.

The action is as good as ever.

The story of Freydis Eriksdotter and her rise to power as a spiritual leader and as an adversary of Lord Harekr, is an emotional one.

Lord Harekr proves to be a very nasty piece of work and gets his just rewards.

I enjoyed immensely the confrontation of Freydis against Agnarr and his army!

Clever moves in that battle.

As always there were losses I shed a tear for.

I am looking forward to more adventures with Leif.

I hope that Freydis and Harald Sigurdsson find each other again and he gets to help raise his child.

Yellowstone: Watch 'Em Ride Away
(2022)
Episode 5, Season 5

A hit in Australia
This episode was talked about feverishly on Radio the day after airing.

Everyone loved it. The clash between Vegan angry and Just Plain angry, was something to see.

Rip's patience & understanding of his wife's personality is wonderful to watch. John's appreciation and insight of his children's personalities was so special.

It is great to see how much Carter and Tate have grown in size & maturity.

The epic ending to this episode when they all line up at the break of day and listen to John telling them what to expect over the next 2 days and the 'spike camp' they will have to endure at night, to bring the cattle down to the yards for branding, is momentous.

Then almost as an afterthought John says 'Yeehaw'.

I love this show and have done since the first episode.

Anything Taylor Sheridan has a part of, turns to Gold. I do not want to be in his mind with all the ideas and thoughts he must have.

The Rookie: Feds
(2022)

No, no, no!
I tried, I really tried to make it through one episode.

Which I managed and even tried a second episode.

Could not make it through that one.

This is an insult to Niecy Nash and all women.

Being assaulted by breasts every time Niecy Nash was on screen was too much.

This is also an insult to the original Rookie series.

I was excited to find it was a 'spin-off' off one of my very favourite shows that I have watched every single episode of, sometime more than once but that soon faded into oblivion.

Who on Earth wrote this series? It's a shocker.

Love the cast but found the actors were steered a wrong'un on this.

So was the audience.

Attica
(2021)

Absolutely heart wrenching & unimaginable
Truth. It can be harder to believe than fiction.

Truth I believe, was told in this Documentary.

The Government of the day was more interested in being popular than being humane.

Nelson A. Rockefeller, Governor of the day, was more focussed on becoming Republican President of the USA than being compassionate.

Nixon showed his true colours.

I am a white woman of British, European & South American descent born & raised in Australia.

I cried hot wet tears for the last 30-40 minutes of this Doco & thought my heart would break.

How could this have even happened in my lifetime?

How could authorities have been so heartless?

How could those responsible for all but one death in that Prison never be brought to justice?

I saw Prisoners just wanting, needing, to be treated like human beings.

I saw white people, townsfolk, law enforcement, onlookers acting like 'good old boys' & thinking of all the prisoners as less than human.

Not knowing this part of America's shameful history, I did not think it would end the way it did.

This Documentary was excellently done & showed clearly the attitude of most white people from the day.

I am blessed to live in Australia although, our history is not spotless either.

FBI: Most Wanted
(2020)

New Head Agent
I love anything to do with Crime, Law & Punishment on my TV.

As a fellow Aussie I have never been a big fan of Julian McMahon in anything I have watched him in & found the storyline of Lacroix, his loss, his being the parent of a teenaged girl etc, getting tiresome.

I have never watched Law & Order: Organized Crime because I do not like the Character of Eliot Stabler played by Christopher Meloni.

So seeing Dylan McDermott as the bad guy in the first Season of Law & Order: OC was not a problem.

Dylan McDermott as Special Agent Remy Scott is a a breath of fresh air.

He has a different background story & brings a whole new dynamic to the Most Wanted Team.

It was Julian McMahon's choice to leave so suddenly & although I cried when his character was shot dead, I am happy with Dylan McDermott being the choice to replace him.

I love all the FBI shows & any other crime solving series.

I hope you are not put off by some peoples bad reviews & give this series a go for yourself.

1883
(2021)

Everyone needs to watch the Introduction episode
I have never been more engrossed in a Series in my 60+ years of life.

Loved all the Characters, the depiction of the Settlers, the Indigenous Natives & the criminals. The enormity & authenticity of it all!

I am enamored of Yellowstone the series & have been so from the very first episode.

The Origin of John Dutton series, 1883, is no different.

The scenery is breathtaking, the individual personal stories are captivating, the acting is superb IMO.

Isabel May who plays Elsa, is a breath of fresh air & a Firecracker whose character puts in 100% no matter what she does. Loving, living, horse riding, being a pain in the neck to her parents & is the heart of this show.

Thank you Taylor Sheridan for making me cry every episode.

Nine episodes in & I am living in each & every episode especially episode 9.

Isabel May is a superstar.

Without Remorse
(2021)

Have NOT read the book...
And I Loved the Movie!

Action packed from the get go!

The action was so full on at times I had to catch my breath.

I wanted to hate one of the characters soooo much and when he did something decent I said out loud, 'Don't you dare make me like you!'

The storyline is decent, the acting is very good. I cannot wait for the next installment.

Michael B Jordan & at least three Australian Actors... what more could you ask for (as an Aussie myself)?

Forewarned is Forearmed
I wish I had read the IMDB Synopsis & user reviews BEFORE binge watching this entire series.

I gave it a five because it is very well made, filmed, written BUT I hate racism and hate horror so this truly disturbed me.

I watched this because my adult son told me it was very good. I have found that tastes change as we age & what may be a great watch for a 36 year old may not be for a 65 year old.

Use your own discretion when watching this series, please.

APB
(2017)

Loved it...
I have just watched the first 2 episodes and found it such fun to watch. It was corny but great action with some humorous moments (Bike Spikes).

The sexual tension between Gideon Reeves & Theresa Murphy is a bit much at times but I got past that.

The inventions were cool & fun to watch.

Nothing like a Billionaire with money to burn!

Law & Order: Organized Crime
(2021)

My 5 rating is being generous
I think all the male actors are woeful in this. The show is poorly written and badly acted. Not sure I can give it my usual 3 episodes to decide yay or nay! After one ep. It's a nay from me.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
(2021)

I love all things Marvel...
But I really cannot stand the new Captain America.

I am enjoying the new series. Some of it is annoying and other bits are great.

Not very consistent but very watchable for me.

I am a 65 year old woman who fell in love with Marvel and Stan Lee the first movie I ever saw in the franchise.

I have watched all the MCU movies except Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Which I will be watching this weekend.

I will stick with this series because... well... it's Marvel.

Now if only they had a new Captain America that acted the part better, had better lines and was easier on the eye!

Just watched the 3rd Episode and enjoyed it. Not fabulous but not bad. Loved the last few minutes immensely because of what will be the fallout!

Debris
(2021)

Loved it!
If the first episode is anything to go by, I am going to love this series. I love the lead male actor in everything I have seen him in. Although he did annoy me at times in this. The premise is great. People who are commenting and comparing it to Fringe must remember Fringe ran from 2008 to 2013. Some people may have never seen it. X-Files is legendary but it ended 3 years ago. Isn't it time for a new different Sci-Fi/UFO/anomaly show? Give it more than One Episode. I always give new Series' at least 3 episodes to show me how good they are. Cannot wait for the next episode!

Superman & Lois
(2021)

So very surprised!
I thoroughly enjoyed the pilot episode of this show. I loved the actress who plays Lois, Elizabeth "Bitsie" Tulloch, in Grimm. Apparently she has played Lois Lane in many CW Productions. The actor who plays Clark, Tyler Hoechlin, I cannot remember having seen him in anything before but IMO, he makes a great Superman. The sons were naturals as were all the young actors. Cannot stand the Kyle Cushing character but I don't think we are meant to. The visuals were great. If the rest of the series/series' lives up to the pilot ep, then I will be very happy!

I have watched the Second Episode
I must say the second ep. did not have me yelling at the TV. It was more interesting and less annoying. I love little Rebecca Breeds but hate the Southern Accent (?) she tries to make sound authentic. I'm an Australian so love my ex-pat Australian Actors. I always give shows at least 3 episodes to prove themselves to me. Cannot wait for the next installment.

Now I have watched 5 episodes and of the 5 I have enjoyed only two where I would give the show a 7. It has had fleeting moments of how good it could be but then it gets lost. If the next ep does not deliver for me then that's the end of my watching Clarise. Sorry Rebecca.

Resident Alien
(2021)

Three episodes in...
And it is so great! Quirky and very droll to the point I laughed out loud and lost my breath. It is different and a bit comical. It's not to be taken seriously but there is a clear message in this show. I also teared up in a couple of places. Harry/Alien learning to do human things is hilarious. His insight into alcohol is spot on. I cannot wait to see what happens next in Harry's mission. I love this show.

Shutter Island
(2010)

Oscar worthy performance
This is the Movie Leonardo should have received an Oscar for, in my opinion. I did not have a clue what this Movie was really about before I watched it. I was blown away by the entire movie. This movie will surprise you, as it did me, if you don't know the premise before hand. I gave it a ten which I don't normally do, meaning it made an impact on me more than most other movies. I recommend this movie to others.

Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer
(2021)

Excellently done
I binge watched this and it kept me interested the whole way through. I remember when Richard Ramirez was causing so much fear in Los Angeles. I was in my 20's and so happy I lived in Australia. He was unpredictable and basically there was no M.O. that the Detectives could work out because he was so random. The only thing they had to go on was his shoe print and kind of vague eyewitness accounts. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Documentary from the Detective's perspective. I don't understand how some people left their doors unlocked after the 1960's. The World changed and it was more dangerous so why leave an accessible window or door unlocked? Some people were very lucky to survive. The authorities know of at least 14 victims. Ramirez worshipped the Devil and was the personification of evil. This documentary did go into a little about his upbringing and it definitely contributed to the person he became as an adult. He died on Death Row from Cancer and I hope it was painful and he suffered.

Wonder Woman 1984
(2020)

I did not much like the first one but...
On recommendation from a friend, I watched it. I persevered through the entire Movie. I deserve a medal IMO. If not for Chris Pine & the fact I was in my 20's in 1984, I would not have stuck with it. Plus I am more a Marvel Fan than a DC one. The story was flimsy at best. I hated seeing the Mandolorian, Pedro Pascal, play the part he did. As others have said it was campy and I think, a total mess at times. I have to add a spoiler, sorry. Not that it will spoil anything, really! The final fight between Diana/WW and Barbara went for wayyyyy too Long & in the end, just added to the calamity. The scene at the end with the best, the one and only Wonder Woman, ever, Lynda Carter was unneeded but a nice touch at the same time. I will tell my friend my final verdict now.

3 Days to Kill
(2014)

Loved this movie
The fact that I have loved Kevin Costner since I saw him in Field of Dreams may have something to do with the 9/10 that I give this movie BUT all the other actors were great, especially his daughter. I love action: it has action aplenty I love humor: it made me laugh out loud a few times I love the use of inanimate objects: it has a few of those I love when a movie does not take itself too seriously: does that I found this movie an entertaining way to fill a Sunday evening.

Mr. Brooks
(2007)

Fabulous!
I am a bit late to the party watching this movie but boy am I glad I found it. I thought it would be boring and boy, was I happy to be proven wrong. Kevin is as gorgeous as ever even when he is in this kind of movie. Was surprised at first by William Hurt's role but soon got into the groove. So many surprises, so much violence. A thrill ride from beginning to end. Very well done. I will watch it again this weekend.
