The Time Traveler's Wife
(2022)

Good so far
Have not read the book but loved the film and enjoying the series so far (after 2 episodes). Interested to see where the story goes and how it can expand on what the film showed us. Such a beautiful scene at the end of the second episode, I wasn't crying, you where, haha.

Pedal to Metal
(2022)

Pretty awful
As another reviewer said - a spanish/mexican fast and furious type affair.

Probably not so bad if you are not a car person but as a lifelong petrolhead there are so many cringe moments that barely left it watchable. By that i mean the cars they use, the terminology, the action shots when the car is clearly going slow etc.

I watch a lot of foreign language shows and this is at the lower end of what i would call a recommendation.

Bel-Air
(2022)

Pleasantly surprised
Reviewing after first three episodes.

Having grown up with the original was not sure what to expect going in to this but I am glad I gave it a chance. Was not expecting much after reading the reviews that have been posted so far but was pleasantly surprised that it was not as bad as some would have you believe. Infact I quite enjoyed it. There are always going to be bad reviews of a remake wether or not it is actually any good, its not the same, its too different etc. Yes, it is very different, but I liked it and look forward to the rest of the series.

Give it a try, you will not regret it
Really enjoyed it, one of the better Netflix series of recent times. Eerie vibe throughout that keeps you glued to the screen and wanting more. Was trying to think what else it was like for comparison and the best i can come up with is kind of a cross between Stranger Things, Lost and a sprinkling of Silent Hill. Did not know James Wan was involved until i saw his name in the titles but if you are a fan of his work you will most certainly enjoy this.

Beforeigners
(2019)

Loved it
Great nordic drama, not much in the way of sci-fi until the end of season 2. Fun and a bit quirky, female lead is a great character. Hope there is a season 3.

Encounter
(2021)

Duped
Not a sci-fi film, it is a film about an ex military guy with serious mental health issues. It is actually a decent film but i had to mark it down for being listed as sci-fi when it was not.

Car Crews with Supercar Blondie
(2019)

Gave it a shot, not my cup of tea
Only slightly less cringey than i was expecting. I watch a lot of car related youtube content so am well aware of who supercar blondie is, not a fan myself but she has done very well from it.

Only first couple of minutes or so of each episode is what you would normaly expect from supercar blondie, the rest is kind of like Ride with Norman Reedus, except car groups instead of bike groups and a slightly cringey youtuber instead of a Walking Dead Alumni.

Do not think it is for everybody unless you are a fan.

Rushed
(2021)

No horror or mystery, just a mild drama
Pretty forgettable drama, incorrectly listed as horror/mystery as it contains neither. Not that it is a particularly bad film, just not a particularly good one either. You would not regret missing it.

Cold Courage
(2020)

Enjoyable drama/thriller
Kind of a british drama where they have tried to give a scandi-noir feel to it. For the most part, it works. Quite enjoyed it and hope they do a season 2. If you enjoy one of the lead actresses, Phila Viitala, you should also check out Karppi/Deadwind.

The Handmaid's Tale: The Crossing
(2021)
Episode 3, Season 4

The best episode yet
Wow, what a powerfull episode. Dont think I have been this emotonally drained after watching a tv episode since the red wedding.

The Tangle
(2019)

Different take on the A.I theme
Wasnt sure what to expect going in to this, from the reviews it seems it is one of those films that you either love or hate, as it is, I quite enjoyed it. Very small cast with most of the film taking place in one room but think it was a well told story with some good performances.

R.I.A.
(2021)

Not one of Lukes best
I don't mind Luke Goss, he is hardly what you would call an a list actor but he has been in some ok films, this is not one of them. Besides, although he may be the main protagonist in the flm, his role, as far as screen time goes, is quite minor. Not a terrible 1 star film, but one that you would find hard to recommend somebody spending money on. Would agree with the reviewer that said this could easily have been a black mirror episode. If it was it would have been half the length and not as tiresome to sit through. Some terrible acting, choppy editing, only just watchable.

Bird's Eye
(2019)

Truly, truly awfull
It states the budget was $93, I think it was more like $13, and they probably had a few dollars left to spare.

Utopia
(2020)

Why?
Why did they have to Americanise this show? The original British version is one of the best shows ever. They completely messed up the RB character and his story line.

Missions
(2017)

Not your average space venture
Really enjoyed this. (Reviewing after season 2) First season starts you off thinking it is just another one of those mission to mars shows that there have been a couple of over last couple of years or so. Quickly descends in to a sci-fi show about the origins of mankind and having already destroyed one planet (Mars was once in the habitable zone millions of years ago) an artificial intelligence left by the previous inhabitants of Mars tries to stop the same happening again on earth. Would really reccomend this if you enjoy a good sci-fi/space drama.

The Head
(2020)

Enjoyable mystery/drama
Whodunit type mystery/drama. Certainly an international effort - Spanish/Japanese production set at a research station in the South Pole in English, Swedish and Danish languages and filmed in the Canary Islands. Some great performances from some of the cast, keeps you guessing until the end.

Sløborn
(2020)

Decent German drama
No idea why it has sci-fi listed in the description as it is not sci-fi, it is just a drama/thriller. Thought it was a good effort though. No idea when it was filmed but quite relevant as it based around a growing global pandemic. Not familiar with any of the actors but thought there was some decent performances. Hope they do a season 2.

Mulan
(2020)

Loved it, another Disney epic
Really don't get all the hate for this and why it has such a low score. Not seen the animated version so can only speak for this one. I loved it, the kids loved it, that is all that matters. Are people rating it low because it is a remake? Out of spite? It is certainly not because it is a rubbish film, it is a Disney kids film for christs sake, what where you expecting? A best picture Oscar winner? 22 years ago the kids got an animated version and loved it, now they get a live action version and still love it.

Raised by Wolves
(2020)

As good as you would expect from Ridley Scott
Reviewing after the first three episodes. Have been excited to see this ever since it was announced and it did not disappoint. Ridley Scott sci-fi at it's best. Can not wait to see how it develops. Stunning visuals, great story, great performances especially from Amanda Collin (Mother). What more could you want from one of the best sci-fi film makers there has ever been.

The 2nd
(2020)

Poor effort
Could easily have been an episode of the main characters series Shooter, he pretty much plays the same role but with much lower production value in this.

Freaks - Du bist eine von uns
(2020)

Good, not brilliant
Quite enjoyed it but could have been better. Solid performances form most of the cast. Sort of a lower budget German version of Heroes or similar shows.

Hungry Ghosts
(2020)

Enjoyed it
Not sure why it is listed as comedy/drama/horror as there is no comedy but certainly drama and a bit of horror. I guess one could argue that some of the atrocities committed in the Vietnam war are more horrific than any of the ghosts in this production but if I have understood it correctly the ghosts have emerged to correct some of those atrocities. Do not think I have seen anything based around Vietnamese lore before but I like it, solid production.

Parallel Minds
(2020)

Hmmm, not sure
Even as I write I am still not sure what I thought of this film. Certainly an interesting concept. Some nice visuals, couple of familiar actors but was hard to follow what was going on at times. Maybe one for the hard core sci-fi fan but as a standalone film I found it a bit lacking.

Time Loop
(2019)

OK for low budget time travel
Well it's not on the same level as Primer but has a similar feel to it, same low budget time travel style.

Torden
(2020)

Not bad
Quite enjoyed this though it was very similar to the recent Netflix series Ragnarok. Pretty much the same main character but from different backgrounds.
