Monkeybone
(2001)

See it once, then forget about it
I was dying to see this movie, because at the time I had a bit of a crush on Brendan Fraser, but I couldn't have been more disappointed.

It wasn't funny at all, I don't recall laughing at any time. My little brothers were laughing when the partly decomposed man was running away from the surgeons, with the doctors shouting "Those are our organs!" the entire time. I just thought it was discusting and it didn't do much for the plot, except for make it worse than it already was.

Though, the movie is somewhat like a conspiracy a friend of mine thought of. That we're all in a coma, and there's a whole other world that exists while we are sleeping, and we are all sleeping. Which is basically the story, and what a classic story it is...

Boy goes into a coma, boy lives with imaginary monkey, boy comes back as dead guy, boy gets girl as reincarnated dead guy...It's a beautiful, beautiful tale that will move you to tears...Or not.

I suggest you see it once (because if you're anything like me, you wont want to see it again), then try to win back the hour and a half that you threw away to see Monkeybone. There are actors and actresses in it that I wanted to see, which was the only reason I saw it. (Brendan Fraser, Whoopi Goldberg, Megan Mullally...)

I give Monkeybone 2/5 stars. Cheers!

Will & Grace
(1998)

It keeps getting better and better...
Which is very true. Only really great comedies can keep getting funnier with each passing season. 'Cheers' (a classic), 'Seinfeld' (hilarious), and now, 'Will & Grace'! I can't wait to see the next season..!

'Will & Grace' is mainly about, of course, Will and Grace! But they aren't really the reason that the show is so hysterical, it's the secondary characters that keep you alive and wanting more. With Megan Mullally as a perfect Karen Walker, the very arrogant, mean alcoholic co-worker of Grace, and Sean Hayes as Jack, the queer best friend of Will that's always around, but most of the time, not wanted. Most people that hate the show overlook them and criticize them so badly. "Her voice is so annoying! She's so stupid! I want to kill her!" (Well, for one, that's the point.) But if any of them would just listen to her a little, they'd see that she has some of the funniest one-liners on television today. Jack is "just Jack!" He is the way he is, it's hilarious and it works for him. Hayes has gotten a ton of recognition for his characterization, and he deserves it. In fact...The entire show has recieved a ton of recognition, and I must say, 'Will & Grace' deserves it in the fullest!

Cheers
(1982)

One of the Few Great T.V. Classics!
There aren't very many shows that I deem almost (or absolutely) perfect. 'Cheers' is, by far, definitely one of them. On the top. 'Seinfeld', 'Roseanne', 'Bewitched', 'Frasier'...(Those are just a few of the others that I think are great.)

'Cheers' is the perfect show because it has something for everyone. There are so many different character personalities to chose from in that one, simple bar that you can't NOT have a favorite. I don't think anyone (anyone that's ever watched the show) could say "I don't like it, I don't like any of them!" ...But how could you not? For the people that want an (at least) semi-intellectual character (instead of everyone being a complete moron) they have Frasier, Diane, Lilith. Everyone loves Norm's witty one-liners as he enters the bar. Coach and Woody are goofily funny in their own stupidity. Carla has her crude, sarcastic zingers. Sam and his "little black book." Cliff with his "know-it-all" attitude when in actuality he doesn't know a thing. Rebecca's a great, all-around character...

It also has the backup of being CONSTANTLY funny, some episodes aren't completely boring, then the next, twenty times funnier than the one before (though, I admit, some are absolutely hilarious!) It gets better and better with each year, not old and drawn out, just more jokes! That's why it lasted so long.

So, if any of you read this, look in you're TV guides to see when it's on. After just a few, you'll know and love the characters, and you'll be completely hooked!
