Hill Street Blues
(1981)

"last week on hill street blues"
There's not a lot to add. From the excellent theme music( i still get shivers down my spine when i hear it) to the excellent plot lines, it knocks all other cop shows into a cocked hat. Joes unrequited love for Lucy, the image of Lucy crying when Coffey was shot, Mick Belker's breakdown as his father fell to Alzheimers, or JD's slide in to alcoholism. These were characters you cared about week in week out. Hands up everyone who shed a tear as Lucy Bates took roll call for the first time after Esterhouses death.

I doubt we'll ever see the likes of it again, which is a great pity!

Brubaker
(1980)

one of my fav's
Everyone has a movie they never tire of watching and this is mine. Redford is excellent as the man fighting the cons, the system and the Governer. one of those movies that makes you sit up and think, and the end where he's applauded away form the prison is superb.
