The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
(2014)

Disappointment
Well, first of all am a huge fan of Tolkien and i've been reading his work for years, so maybe i was expecting too much.

The prime purpose of a movie is to entertain and this one did it in a few scenes ... the rest is pure waste of money.

There are so many things wrong about direction like:

  • the giants worms, i mean c'mon, if they have worms to make giant caves on earth, why not attacking the mountain from within??

  • Legolas jumping on falling bricks looked like Luigi Bros on Nintendo games

  • the Tauriel-Kili romance was really necessary?? Fili and Kili death scenes were really lame. They should've died defending Thorin like in the books and have a great funeral. In the books Thorin is buried with the Arkenstone and his sword, the wealth is distributed as promised and Dale is rebuilt, while Bilbo get back to the Shire really rich.

  • Thorin and Dwalin see that almost 100 orcs came to fight them ... why not, let's fight ... next scene, fight is over and no bodies nor blood anywhere

  • Thorin end up fighting alone in the end while Dwalin was ... ?

  • an entire army of orcs from Gundabad got destroyed by 10 eagles and Beorn?

There have been great movies this year: Inception, Guardians of the galaxy, Edge of tomorrow, The imitation game, The equalizer ... this movie won't have it easy competing among these. Maybe they should an special nomination for the "most amount of wasted CGI".

Am sorry Peter Jackson, you have disappointed me.

Path of Exile

How Diablo3 should be
When i play Heart of the Swarm (Starcraft 2 expansion)early this year i got the feeling that Blizzard was messing things up, later i Play D3 and that just confirmed my fear.

So after i finished the game's history i feel like playing Diablo 2 ... and so i did.

Diablo 2 was in the days a breath of fresh air, there was so many possibilities on the game that am still creating characters to test builds. The game pace, the plot and the simplicity of the game itself helps to make the experience fully enjoyable. But has a huge lack of graphics quality or HD resolution, which makes you go and look for alternatives.

And then i met Path of Exile, start playing it and get caught on this immense reality where there are so many references to Diablo2 that i don't know why it hasn't been stop by the guys on Blizzard.

The truth is that there are so many RPG (or ARPG) games out there that finding one with this quality is a rare thing.

The beauty of simplicity, the lineal plot and the infinite tree skill make this game a Must Play for sure.

I just hope Blizzard take the lead again on this field, because Path of Exile is nowadays the one choice i would make to play Diablo 2 sequel, it feels like, it looks like it and its better than the real sequel.

I'll just give 8/10 because of the lag and the desynchronization that you feel sometimes, everything else is just fine.

The final upgrade for the War3-mod fans
Icefrog has made a great work in here, adding the original names to the champions and skills, giving originality to certain features that give the game the difficulty (and dynamism) we were expecting.

As a huge fan of the original War3 modified map Dota-AllStars i have to say this is all i have been expecting and more. The map, the names, the skills and the items have been upgraded but all of this has been made to be easy to remember, and learn, how to play.

The game is very well balanced.

I miss certain things like the designs on some characters and items, but is OK.

Grab your mouse, turn on the speakers, it's time to play!

Qué pena tu vida
(2010)

Hilarious, but just for Chileans
Am gonna be as simple as i can, this movie is hilarious... much of the things the say are common banish words from our vocabulary (am Chilean) and they just trow them all into the scream. The scene that always crack'd me up, is when the main character is on a bridge, stop and sees a big picture of his ex-gf and just scream as loud as possible "Maraca Conchetumadre!!! me cagaste la vida" (translated to English is like "You ugly b1tch!!! you screwed my whole life"). Those words have diged deep into our modern chilean culture, because using then in real life would be extremely disrespectful, and thats exactly why... everyone loves that character. As i said at the beginning, you have to live here, lived here for a couple of years, or see it with a Chilean guy. Best Reggards

Seinto Seiya: Shinku no shônen densetsu
(1988)

Beautiful movie.
Not much to say. I love the movie.

If you haven't seen Saint Seiya, then off course u'll find this movie annoying and will make no sense at all.

But if you have seen the series (at least till Seiya and his friends come back from Asgard) this movie will touch you forever.

Following the line of the sagas, and just using couple of characters from the anime Shigeyasu Yamauchi makes this art piece from nowhere, which by the way, every time i see it, i have a flashback to my childhood...

Sweet times, beautiful times and a beautiful movie.
