The View from the Swing
(2000)

Probably the worst movie i've seen this year
This movie is AWFUL.

The lead role is of an infantile grown man, the kind you'd want to punch in the face if he'll cross your way. And the worst part is - he doesn't change. Well sure, he learns not to fear being a father, but who the hell cares? This is the most annoying character i've seen in movie history. There's no bright side to him, he's just super annoying. Like that kid you hate, but grown up.

The other actors are doing a mediocre job, except for Ted's dad, who's pretty good. The writing is just awful, one cliché after another, people are saying what they are feeling all the time ("I am so pleased!", "I am afraid", "I'm so excited") and the plot doesn't even exist.

This is what happens when you write a movie and cast yourself in the leading role without any experience or anything new to say. You get the worst film in years. I truly understand why the writer and leading actor is also the producer of this crap - nobody in their right mind will pay to make this horrible movie.

Do yourself a favor and watch paint dry. Please.

bad, bad animation
While the story is pretty good (although very used), this kind of animation just blows. it looks like the animator is down right lazy. instead of 10 frames he uses the same 2 over and over. i've seen better animation by first year art student. i mean it. And the dubbing synchronization (and voices characterization all-in-all) is poor: when someone looks (visually) like he's shouting, their voice is dry and in normal volume. there is way too much silence and lack of sound effects to make the scenes work and be coherent, instead of just frames flickering around with big random pauses.

There are so many great storytellers and animators out there. I really can't figure out why Plympton is considered such a great one.

A sheer disappointment.

Dinotopia
(2002)

What a load of crap
maybe it's the original book, but this is so stupid. They live in freaking Waterfall City, and they spend all their time looking for sun stones as a source of power. use the damn waterfalls! create electricity!!! The leading actors are also horrible, especially Wentworth Miller as David, he's acting like he's the director's con who got his first chance in front of a camera. Katie Carr is also laconic and amateur, and only Tyron Leitso does a fair job.

The special effects are nice and the CGI character of Zipeau (or Zippo?) is quite lovable. The story is a predictable Disney-esquire adventure for kids, very kitsch, very American and very simplistic.

But Dinotopia still keeps some level of interest. It's watchable, if you have 4 extra hours and you can sleep. It will get you to slumber-land, that's for sure.

Hitters

extremely bad
One of the worst movies i've ever seen. I really hopes for a good one, but the acting was bad, mostly overacting, the plot was predictable and boring, even the music was over-dramatic. Sorry i'm so negative, but I just wanna reccomend to you all: don't waste the time. watch the Sopranos or something instead.
