The Devil and Father Amorth
(2017)

Production Value
I see everyone debating the validity of the possession in the film. The main thing that I came away with was that it looked and sounded so bad. I understand the single camera in the actual exorcism, but why do all of the other interviews need to also be so low in quality? I don't even think the interviewees were mic'd. It's kind of confounding.

I find the subject itself very interesting. The voice could have been altered digitally, of course. I wasn't there so I'm not sure. I read others saying that reports came out with the original audio and that she sounded normal in those. Check it out for yourself but I was mostly shocked at the production value. Not to mention that he didn't take his camera in to speak with here when several severe things were supposed to have happened. Eh....

Gauntlet
(2021)

Huge undertaking!
I've been wanting to check this one out for a while. I knew that the production was several years in the making, given all the animation/graphics that were involved. It's a super fun flick that really shows how much you can accomplish when you're willing to take on piles of work and not stop until you reach the top of the mountain. It's an indie passion project so it's obviously going to be a different experience than watching the next $200 million dollar studio sci-fi movie but if you're up for something different you should check it out. I look forward to seeing what this team comes up with next!

Introspectum Motel
(2021)

Introspectum Motel
Introspectum Motel utilizes its indie budget really well. The filmmakers use what they have to great affect. Marcel Dorian does a nice job both in front of and behind the camera. There's some adult content, for those unaware, but it's a really nice shift from the Hollywood norm if you're looking for something that has a lot of passion behind it.

The Berlin Bride
(2019)

Artsy Fun
This one was quite different than what I've been watching lately. It's a super artistic film with strong visuals and very limited dialogue. Shout-out to the music as well. It won't be for everyone but it's certainly a nice taste of something different.

We All Lie My Darling
(2021)

Great Job
This is a super well put together film. I didn't know what to expect going in but I was presently surprised with just how polished it was. A very intimate look at friendship and the complex relationships people have. Totally worth checking out.

The Electric Man
(2022)

Sci-fi
A fun indie twist on the sci-fi genre. If you're looking for something different than the typical cable channel flick this is a good one to check out. Even with a limited budget these guys do some great work!

La Inevitable Muerte del Cangrejo
(2022)

Slick!
A beautifully shot indie thriller. With a shorter runtime it moves quickly. Sometimes it's nice for a movie to get in and out and keep you wanting more. Some very solid directing. Worth checking out for sure.

Cold Feet
(2019)

Indie Fun
A fun indie horror comedy with a quirky ensemble cast. This one was a lot of fun. I'm a fan of this director/actor so I always look forward to seeing what he comes up with next. I don't want to get into spoilers but there's a cool plot line happening in regards to the action. Totally worth checking out!

Closure
(2018)

Indie Fun
I really enjoyed Closure. It was great indie fun. I like blockbusters as much as the next guys but it is nice to change things up and this type film is a great example of that. Loved seeing Dee Wallace in there too! Fun story and pace.

Normandy Is My Name
(2015)

Hughes
An indie film with a fun John Hughes vibe. It's like a modern take on The Breakfast club. Definitely different than the normal Hollywood cookie cutter film. It was nice to watch something a little different. Always good to change up the pace.

Sweet Sunshine
(2020)

Sweet
If you enjoyed A Star is Born you might like Sweet Sunshine as well. A nice mix of drama and a coming of age story. I'm always impressed with musical talent, especially when it's portrayed in the form of a film. Give it a go.

Spoken
(2021)

Indie Suspense
I stumbled onto this one and enjoyed it. I always like checking out indie suspense thrillers. Any time you can see something that's different than the Hollywood norm I'm up for checking it out. Some nice directing choices to. It isn't a 20 million dollar film but there's some cool stuff in there for sure. I'd recommend.

It Hits You When You Know It
(2020)

Indie Film worth checking out
I really enjoyed this one. I don't often do friendship dramas but this one was worth changing it up. Nice story about relationships and real life scenarios we usually find ourselves in. Some standout acting in there too. Good stuff.

Good Old Friends
(2020)

Good Old Friends
Polished Independent thriller with some nice cinematography and performances. I didn't see the ending coming. Definitely recommend if you're looking for something that's different from the Hollywood norm!

Sunday Mornings
(2021)

Fun Time
This was a really fun comedy to stumble across. I liked the lead actress a lot. I'd love to see her in more stuff. It's not a big studio movie by any means but you can tell the indie team has some real talent on their squad. Can't wait to see more from them.

The Crumbs
(2020)

Crumbs
A change of pace from the norm. I love horror/thrillers but I'm not super into gore. So this one had a good mix. Had a bit of a Texas Chainsaw Massacre vibe. Perfect time of the year for it.

The Terrible Adventure
(2020)

Fun!
A super fun adventure for the entire family. Great choice for a weekend family viewing with pizza, laughs and excitement. Sweet poster too. Definitely recommend, especially if you enjoy indie films that are a different flavor than the typical hollywood flick.

Astro Loco
(2021)

Sci-fi
I heard someone else describe Astro Loco as a space opera and I definitely like that term. It was so different and so much fun! Creating spaceship interiors is a huge challenge so mad props to the entire team for pulling that one off. I'd definitely recommend checking this one out. I liked it a lot.

The Stalker
(2020)

The Stalker
Loved the soundtrack in this one. It might not have the biggest budget in the world but this indie film has some nice moments in it. If you're up for a change of pace from the hollywood norm you should check it out. Really interesting directing choices. Looking forward to what their team comes up with next.

Morok
(2021)

The Shattering
This was a nicely done psychological thriller. I'm a fan of mind-benders so this was right up my alley. Kudos to the indie team. It's not easy to pull one of these off without a big budget, but they did a great job. I enjoyed the lead and will keep an eye out for her. Really looking forward to what they come up with next.

Kin Dread
(2021)

Loved it
Man, this was a really awesome find. Super cool story with some interesting direction. Great work in the sound department. This is an indie project that's the rare combination of being something different than the studio offerings while also being really polished. Can't wait to see what the team comes up with next!

Straw Dogs
(1971)

Why
Man..... I love Dustin Hoffman, but I'm not sure I enjoyed anything about this movie. I've read some reviews that I definitely agree with. Hard to get through with no payoff for my tastes. Eek.

Northwood Pie
(2019)

Good One!
This one was fun. I've been watching a lot of big blockbusters lately so it was nice to have a change of pace. There's an easiness to it that I enjoyed. It definitely took me back to my old pizza job. Lol. Sometimes it's good to revisit the dynamics we had when we were younger. Fun movie with some talented people behind it.

Trick 'r Treat
(2007)

Halloween
A great movie to watch during the Halloween season. The analogy structure keeps the energy up and the filmmaking team delivers on some unexpected turns. Give it a watch.

Krampus
(2015)

Great blend
A really smart blend of humor and horror, which is saying a lot. Both elements land especially well in this film. It took me forever to finally getting around to watching, but it was worth the wait. Very unique vibe. I loved the idea of "Christmas Vacation" with horror. If you like the horror comedy genre this is a must.
