Stumbling upon the 2024 "Freaky Tales" by random chance here in 2025, and never having watched it, nor even heard about it, of course I had to check it. Especially since Pedro Pascale was in it. Now, normally I am not overly keen on anthologies, but still opted to give "Freaky Tales" the benefit of the doubt.
The first story, titled "Strength in Numbers", was really quite a surprise. I definitely didn't expect that kind of level of violence, blood and gore. But it was gloriously enjoyable and entertaining, and it definitely set the bar high.
"Don't Fight the Feeling" was the title of the second story and it utterly failed to entertain me. I have to say that rap and hip hop never was, nor will be, within the scopes of my interests.
Moving on to the third story, which was titled "Born to Mack", and was the one having Pedro Pascal in it. And wow, talk about a nice cameo surprise in this story. The story, though, was not really all that interesting.
The fourth and final chapter is titled "The Legend of Sleepy Floor".
The stories in the anthology are actually nicely tied in with one another, making for a rather wholesome viewing experience.
The acting performances in all of the stories were good, and they had a good cast ensemble for each segment.
Something that worked though, throughout each of the stories, was the fabulous 1980s vibe. Even the intro sequence had that particular nostalgic 1980s vibe, and I liked that, as I was a child during the 1980s.
The production value in "Freaky Tales" was good and helped lift up the overall enjoyment of the movie.
I found "Freaky Tales" watchable, but nothing outstanding really, aside from the first tale in the anthology, and that one made it worthwhile to sit through 107 minutes actually. However, this was hardly an anthology that you return to watch a second time.
My rating of writer and directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck's 2024 anthology "Freaky Tales" lands on a five out of ten stars.

Honestly, I have to say that I didn't really harbor the biggest of expectations to "Subservience" when I sat down to watch it, as it had Megan Fox in a leading role. But with it being a movie that I had neither seen nor heard of before, of course I opted to check it out.
Writers Will Honley and April Maguire put together an interesting and entertaining enough storyline, if you can look past the major plot holes that permeate the narrative. Sure, it was a somewhat generic and predictable, but it still made for a good enough viewing experience. The contents of the narrative, though, wasn't exactly something that haven't been done or seen before in other movies.
The acting performances in "Subservience" were fair. There were a few familiar faces on the cast list for me, with the likes of Michele Morrone, Megan Fox and Madeline Zima. While I am by no means a fan of Megan Fox, I will say that she was nicely cast for the movie, as she definitely had the artificial look to her, not even sure if they opted to go out of their way with make up and prosthetics to make her artificial.
I can't claim to understand the choice of nails that they opted to let Megan Fox have in the movie as the artificial person Alice. The nails were like claws and looked dirty. It made no sense that a company selling high end artificial persons would put that on the model.
In terms of special effects, then "Subservience" is quite good. It was not a movie that made use of an abundance of special effects, oddly enough given the fact that it was a sci-fi thriller. But the effects used in the movie certainly were nice.
"Subservience" is a movie that you watch once, then bag and tag it, never to pull it out for a second viewing. Well, unless you are a fan of Megan Fox, I suppose.
When the movie ended, I was left with a sensation of 'this was essentially just "Terminator" with a sex robot'.
My rating of director S. K. Dale's 2024 sci-fi thriller "Subservience" lands on a five out of ten stars.

Stumbling upon the 2024 action comedy "Sunset Superman", seeing that it was starring Michael Jai White, and it being a movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I had to check out what writer and director Jason Krawczyk had to offer.
The storyline in the movie was actually rather enjoyable, as it was a nice combination of action and comedy. Writer Jason Krawczyk put together a good script, and I have to say that I was genuinely entertained throughout the course of the 81 minutes that the movie ran for.
The acting performances in "Sunset Superman" were good. And Michael Jai White was nicely cast for the leading role and he carried the movie quite well. The only familiar faces on the screen were Michael Jai White and Billy Zane.
There is a good amount of action in the movie, and even some hilarious blood and gore. Yeah, that was quite a nice surprise, but a very welcomed one.
If you enjoy action comedies, then you should watch "Sunset Superman".
My rating of writer and director Jason Krawczyk's 2024 movie lands on a well-deserved six out of ten stars.
