Blitz is a change of pace for Jason Statham with this gritty and realistic 70's styled police thriller. Jason Statham is a cop, paired up with a gay cop that has to deal with his anti gay ( or homophobic coworkers). He is gets down to business and is a good cop, respected by Statham. Together they are on a case where a serial killer that kills cops is running rampant in the city. Blitz has more in common with Dirty Harry then The Transporter and Statham actually has to do a bit of acting here. There is quite a bit of action here, but more realistic and less stylized. The film was well paced and well made as a whole. I enjoyed this quite a bit.

I always thought Sniper was a excellent, well made movie. The direct to video sequels range from serviceable to disposable. Tom Berenger is a Marine Corps sniper and one of the best in his profession. He is paired up with a rookie ( Billy Zane) to conduct clandestine assassinations in South America. What makes Sniper different from other action movies is this shows the consequences of killing. The film gets quite dark and blurs the lines of morality, survival and shows the consequences to a occupation where violence is part of the job description. Tom Berenger is absolutely excellent in this showing lots of range.and exploring the psychology of a professional killer. He also shows his strength of his character with his dedication to getting the job done and his loyalty to his country and his compatriots. Sniper is done very well and much more than your average action movie once you scratch the surface.

It's been a while since I last watched 80's classic Tank. This is the sort of movie that I would watch with my Dad whenever this played on cable. James Garner is in top form as soon to be retired Army Sgt. When he gets on the wrong side of the good ole' boy sheriff, he has to stand up for his family and for justice. Owning a Sherman Tank made it easy for him to achieve this goal and with media coverage public opinion is on his.side. Tank came out in 1984. The same year Twisted Sister made their classic album "Stay Hungry". Tank is a whole lot of "We're Not Going To Take It" and James Garner played a very righteous and honorable military serviceman. There really is nothing about this film that I don't like. It's well done and is a good movie about standing up and fighting for your rights. Tank has aged well.
