Madgaon Express
(2024)

fun-loving ride which will tickle every inch of your funny bone!
Movie name - #MadgaonExpress Genre - Comedy Rating - #Hilarious 3.5/5 Running in theaters around you

After a long time, Bollywood was able to create a fun-loving ride which will tickle every inch of your funny bone!!!

Madgaon Express is the story of 3 friends who have always desired to Goa since their childhood but some issues or other comes the way for which they have to drop their plan. As they get busy with their professional life, they decide to go for reunion at Goa. This time they do reach the destination but land up in deep trouble which makes their journey adventurous.

Kunal Kemmu takes the director's chair for the first time and does a fabulous job in making a genuine buddy-comedy film that has innumerable laugh-out scenes - railway station scene when the 3 friends are about to on board the train, Pratik Gandhi's funny stammer after he accidentally consumes drugs, the scene where Pratik and Divyendu dresses up as Kombdi lady gang members. You name it and the film has all the entertainment package to keep you happy.

On the flip side, 2nd hald could have been further trimmed with unnecessary songs and scenes. However, the film picks up the pace and gives a solid slapstick comic climax. Kunal Kemmu brilliantly extracts performance from each actor who played their part to the best. Divyendu and Pratik Gandhi excels in their dialogues while Avinash Tiwari gives a good support. The Marathi actor who played the role of main villain and his counterpart, leader of Kombdi gang were simply superb.

Overall, I had a great time laughing out with hilarious scenes in Madgaon Express. Go and enjoy the bromance with your friends :)

Kohrra
(2023)

Need more gripping drama like this
Over few years, Punjab, which was once portrayed with inviting lush green fields in Hindi films, has now become favorite hot spot for drugs, crime and unwanted criminal activities. Udta Punjab, CAT, Tabbar and now Kohraa deeply explore how this menance is impacting the common man with diverse and interesting characters.

Kohraa is centered around 2 cops - Balbir and Garundi, who gets involved in a heinous murder after a body of a NRI person is found in midst of field one foggy morning. When they start investigation, they discover interesting facts with haunting past.

From the makers of Pataal Lok (Sudipta Sen and Gunjit Sharma) and director of an underrated film, Halaahal, Randeep Jha, Kohraa is a procedural-slow-burn-thriller which will make you think like as if you are reading a novel. As you will turn into a new page, you will be surprise with new event in this 6- episodes hard-hitting drama.

Though Kohraa is based on serious topic, it comprises of humour as Barun Sobti steals the show with his cunning and witty dialogues. While the first half is extremely interesting, second half tends to confuse you as the mystery thriller finally reveals the person who is behind everything. The climax has a sad ending but it also exposes the harsh reality. Writing is top notch coupled with soothing background score. Editing could have been better. Dialogues are quirky.

Both Suvinder Vicky and Barun Sobti gives a knockout performance. Suvinder Vicky should be lauded for his brave acting and is complete natural while Barun Sobti is simply mind blowing. Other actors equally contributed to the performance, bringing out their characters alive. You will be surprised to see Rachel Shelley after a long time (last she appeared in Lagaan) and was amazing.

Overall, Kohraa is one such hair-raising web series which is definitely difficult to digest as it gives you goosebumps with an eye-popping experience.

Dahaad
(2023)

Gripping
One of my favorite mystery thriller of all time, Manorama Six Feet Under starring Abhay Deol, was shot in Rajasthan and when after watching the ZoyaAkhtar and Reema Kagti creation, Dahaad, I almost got the same vibes.

There is a serial killer, Anand, who lives dual personality - during day time, he is playing the role of faithful husband and a school teacher but transforms into a pyscho-killer, who does all the tricks to lure women into his trap. When the number of murders turns alarming, Mandwa police deep-dives into the investigation to catch the culprit.

This is the first time Zoya Akhtar (Luck By Chane, Zindagi Na Milega Dobaara, MadeIn Heaven) would have tried Murder mystery genre in collaboration with Reema Kagti (Talaash) and she does come out successful. Here we already know who the culprit is and that is interesting since the cat and mouse game makes the plot worth watching. The background score, the rustic look of gorgeous Rajasthan and performance of the entire star cast gives a boost to Dahaad.

On the flip side, the ending could have been better executed (the makers seems like hell bent to end it) but it is the acting of the lead cast - sonakshisinha was fabulous. The role required someone to be straight-forward, honest with lot of guts and the actress completely suited the character. Gulshan Deviah and Vijay Varma were solid in their part.

Overall, Dahaad is like reading a novel with every chapter contributing to interesting events which makes it worth watching.

Farzi
(2023)

Remarkable !!!!
The first season of the much awaited #ShahidKapoor, #VijaySethupati, #BhuvanArora , #KayKayMenon and #RaashiKhanna starrer Farzi has come out and after watching it only one word is coming to mind - Amazing !!!

Farzi gives us an insight into the life of an artist, Sunny (Shahid Kapoor), who goes the wrong path to earn money by printing fake money notes. He faces the challenges in form of bold cop Michael (Vijay Sethupathi) who swears to wipe out the crime spread across the country.

I loved each and every minute of Raj & Dk directed web-series which meets the humongous expectation, thanks to the talented creator duo, Raj & Dk who are back along with the writers Suman Kumar and Sita Menon which is much fast-paced, gripping and even humorous. While the first few episodes takes time to build the foundation as we see the boring life of Sunny but once he gets into action, there is no turning back with adrenalin-pumping scenes that will keep hooked thanks to the tight screenplay. Farzi also has the high quality art direction and cinematography though few places CGI could have been better.

Farzi is incomplete without the solid performances thanks to Shahid Kapoor, Bhuvan Arora, Kay Kay Menon, Amol Palekar, Raashi Khanna and the immensely talented Vijay Sethupathi who entertains you to the core with his quirky one-liner dialogues. His chemistry with Zakir Hussain is outstanding.

Overall, Farzi was an enjoyable fare with solid performances, gripping story and brilliant direction. Should not be missed !!!

If you are a fan of The Family Man, there is a surprise for you :)

Trial by Fire
(2023)

Eye-Opener
Trial By Fire is an eye-opener of the famous case which is intriguing and disturbing.

Based on the horrific incident of 1997 Upahar Cinema case where 59 people were choked to death due to smoke caused by fire during the screening of Border film. Trial By Fire is the chronical of the case filed by Krishnamoorthy couple seeking justice for their children who lost their lives in the tragic incident.

Directed, researched and created by Prashant Nair and Kevin Luperchio, Trial By Fire is not easy watch but is an important web series that will keep you hooked to the detailed investigations. Each and every scene has executed appropriately and accurately.

Trial By Fire has been told from the Krishnamoorthy couple's point of view - how their lives got impacted along with other families. The web-series details out the struggles and challenges faced by the families mentally, physically and financially.

Trial By Fire boast off some strong technical support. I should start with an outstanding editing work. The background score is haunting and yet mesmerizing. The cinematography is brilliant, portraying a real-life crime with aplomb. Screenplay is fantastic, though it becomes little sluggish towards the end.

Coming to the performances, it is #Abhay Deol and Rajshri Despande who stands tall with her at each and every moment. They will make you believe with utmost natural performance.

On the whole, Trial By Fire is not easy watch but it will expose the harsh reality of what happened on the fateful day and it will definitely make you angry.

Avatar: The Way of Water
(2022)

Breathtaking !!!!!
13 years back, James Cameron revolutionized the visual effects in cinema with Avatar which broke all the box office records thanks to solid word of mouth. He is back and is back with another spectacle that will blow your mind ...

In Avatar 2, Jake has moved on with his new lease of life in Pandora and is living happily with Neytiri. However, his happiness is short-lived as the new threat enforce into their world and he must work with Na'vi race to protect their world.

To refresh your memory, James Cameron is probably the most bold and visionary director we could have seen in our lifetime. He created a human cyborg covered with tissue and skin in the Terminator franchise (1984) followed by a stunning sequel in 1991 which again was ahead of its time owing to its jaw-dropping CGI. He went deep sea-diving with The Abyss (1989) followed by hardcore action flick, True Lies (1994) and took us back to the most unfortunate incident told beautifully in Titanic (1997). With Avatar (2009), he created a gorgeous world of Pandora which was very well received even though the story was just fine. Similarly, the sequel has all the film-making style of Cameron which boast off quality work and you will be able to view in each and every frame of Avatar : The Way Of Water.

Overall, James Cameron does justice to his fans and audience who waited for 13 years to witness the sequel which is grandeur and better than the first one. Do watch it in theaters to enjoy the experience.

Qala
(2022)

Well written and stunning performances is what makes Qala a pleasant watch.
After impressing the audience with skillful writing in Bulbul, Anvita Dutta steps into the area with direction and she does comes out well in the today's release - Qala

Based in the lovely city of Calcutta during the 1930's era, Qala tells the story of a female playback singer (Tripti Dimri) who life goes for a toss when her mother Urmila (Swastika Mukherjee) brings home an orphaned boy, Jagan (Babil Khan) who poses threat when it comes to singing.

Debutant director Anvita Dutta creates an artistic world of Qala with mesmerizing cinematography and enchanting art direction where each frame is so ecstatically presented that it is difficult to take your eyes off the screen. The tale of aspiration, opportunity, jealousy and betrayal is well balanced thanks to the tight screenplay, fine technical aspects and electrifying performances by Tripti Dimri, Swastika Mukherjee and Babil Khan.

Overall, well written and stunning performances is what makes Qala a pleasant watch.

Bhediya
(2022)

Fantastic direction, Stunning CGI and brilliant performances makes it a must watch
Amar Kaushik has set the benchmark of hor-com flicks with a stunning Stree released in 2018. He is back with yet another experimental Bhediya and he does come out of it successfully.

Bhediya tells the story of a small town in Arunachal Pradesh which is gripped by fear of a Werewolf, who is on the verge of killing spree.

After Stree and Bala, Amar Kaushik chooses a subject which is fresh and interesting along with the solid combination of horror and comedy. There are few scenes which are thrilling and creates tension, thanks to the wonderful screenplay. Though Bhediya is full of humor and entertainment, it successfully deals with social message of forest encroachment. The first half is full of hilarious moments and will make you curious while the second half is even more better. Hats off to the writer Niren Bhatt (Asur, Bala) and amazing visual effects.

On the flip side, few songs could have been avoided and length of the film could have been trimmed by few scenes. Dialogues are smartly written while the art direction and cinematography is excellent. Performances by the everyone is one of the highlight of the film. Abhishek Banerjee is a treat to watch. Varun Dhawan does well and so does Deepak Dobriyal and Paalin Kabak.

On the whole, Bhediya is one of the best film to ever come out in 2022.(Don't miss the post credit scene)

Drishyam 2
(2022)

Faithful remake
************ Movie Review *****

Ajay Devgn's Drishyam, released in 2015, was simply superb which was an official remake of Malayalam film Drishyam starring Mohanlal thanks to its thundering climax and electrifying screenplay.

The sequel, Drishyam 2, which releases today takes the story forward when the IG (played by Akshaye Khanna ) re-opens the case which led to the disappearance of son of Meera (Tabu), leading the trail back to Vijay Salgaonkar and his family.

While the first film was directed by late Nishikant Kamat, Abhishek Pathak returns to the director's chair with slow-burn and yet engaging story written brilliantly by Jeetu Joseph with twist and turns enough to keep you at bay. Drishyam 2 starts off on a slow note but gathers the steam towards the second half. The series of events infuses life to the film and will keep you guessing with what-will-happen-next scenes. Of course, the editing could have better reducing the duration of the film, especially in the first half.

It is the last one hour of the film which makes it an interesting watch thanks to the outstanding climax. The only actor who could match to the calibre of Mohanlal is Ajay Devgn . The actor expresses adequately through his eyes and gives a stunning performance. Akshaye Khanna is just turning out to be fabulous with each and every role he plays and this one is definitely on the radar. Tabu and Shriya Saran's character could have been better written.

So, overall, Drishyam2 is worthy sequel to 2015 s Drishyam which should be applauded for its skillful writing, brilliant performances and astounding climax.

Monica O My Darling
(2022)

Thrilling and extremely entertaining
Remember Johnny Gaddar which came in 2008 that was helmed by master director Sriram Raghavan and had unpredictable twist and turns. Monica O My Darling belongs to the same genre, though slightly elongated.

Jayant is a hard working robotic engineer who climbed up in his career, eventually becoming the member of board of director in his company. Unfortunately, all the good times, luxurious lifestyle and peacefulness comes to an end after he gets involved in a passionate affair with his office colleague, Monica, who blackmails him threatening to expose him in front of his boss and fiance.

Directed by Vasan Bala (Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota), who thanks Sriram Raghavan in the opening credits, MOMD is one hell of a ride that keeps you engaged with twist and turns as well entertained, thanks to hilarious dialogues, comic scenes and funny one liners. A tribute to the retro era, MOMD boast of sharp camera work, excellent art direction and good editing. The flaw is the ending along with too many murders happening at the same time. Also, after Scam 1992, I was expecting rocking bgm from Achint but it was just about okay.

Performances are praise-worthy and so is the well written story that definitely elevates the film.

So, overall, MOMD has enough steam to make it a good murder mystery. Do check it out.

Prey
(2022)

Prey should have been released in theaters !!!!
Movie name - Prey (2022) Genre - Action / Thriller / Sci-Fi Rating - Kickass / Gripping 4/5 Streaming on Hulu / Online

I still remember having nightmares in my childhood after seeing the dreadful face of Predator in Arnold Schwarzenegger starrer Predator (1987). Except for the stunning sequel (1990) , the Predator franchise lost its charm thanks to the poor direction and weak actors who could justify as someone standing tall and fight the human killing machine. But, the latest one, Prey, surpasses all the expectations.

Set much before the first Predator film, Prey is set during the early 1700s, where Naru, a female warrior discovers that her tribe is under threat from a mysterious hunter. She gathers courage and prepares for the battle of her life as she faces the 7 foot giant all by herself.

From director of 10 Cloverfield Lane, The Boys and Black Mirror, Dan Trachtenberg brings back the steam to the Predator franchise which was lost over past few films. The only regret I would say is not having a theater experience to watch the battle between the hunter and the hunted.

Couple of scenes stand out - Opening scene of Predator where he tears the python snake apart, his fight with Grizzly bear, the scene where they show the full-fledged Predator for the first time (all this while he was appearing in the transperent suit) and finally the extremely well choreographed climax scene.

Amber Midthunder as Naru is amazing and she deserves accolades for her fantastic performance. Action scenes are superb and so is the visual effects. Screenplay is superb which will keep you hooked to the film throughout.

Overall, Prey is a well made film which will be definitely be loved for its fantastic attempt. Definitely, go for it!!!!

Top Gun: Maverick
(2022)

This is why we love Tom Cruise!!???
Sequel to Top Gun (1986), Top Gun2 was in making ever since 2012. Initially, Tony Scott, who also made the original, decided to start. However, after his death, the project was shelved, eventually taken up by Joseph Kosinski who took over in 2018 and after 2 years of delay, Top Gun 2 saw the light of the day.

The sequel starts with #TomCruise returning to the role of Maverick which made him a household name. This time he will not just be flying the planes but also training the new bees who have been selected as the "BEST OF THE BEST" pilots in the word, to destroy the uranium setup at the enemy base.

From the director of brilliantly made Tron Legacy and Oblivion, Joseph enhances the franchises with more adrenaline pumping flight sequences. The movie opens with a bang where Tom Cruise uses his swag, wearing his famous jacket and sunglass as he zooms past into the center where he flies the Mach 10 super sonic flight. The sequel delves into the crux of the plot - getting new joiners onboarded where we get introduced to new actors joining the cast.

While the training sessions are engaging, it is the main mission on-air flight sequences which is an absolute masterpieceb that should be watched in theaters for ultimate cinematic experience. Kudos to the action choreographer and his team as each and every frame has been synced up well with almost actors actually flying the plane 😃

Few scenes were a typical filmy, everytime somebody is always present at the enemy lines to save Tom Cruise and his fellow actors.

Tom Cruise ages gracefully as he brings the charm with his impeccable performance. As usual, he does all the stunt by himself, proving that no one can be like him, as he puts his passion and effort to give the best. Rest of the cast are fine.

Attack
(2022)

Sets up the new benchmark - Fantastic Attempt
One of my favorite childhood flick is Robocop where a half human - half robot is assigned on a mission to serve as a cop to clean the criminal activities of Detroit City. John Abraham starrer Attack is made on the similar theme where he becomes a super soldier to save the #Delhi city from influence of a chemical bomb.

Now, the best part of watching John Abraham's films are his stylish action scenes in Rocky Handsome , Force 2, Dhoom or Romeo Akbar Walter and Attack is just one step ahead in terms of hand-to-hand combat, stunts and well choreographed fight scenes. There is not much of story and content in this 1 hour 45 mins flick but it has been made purely for action films lover and I am certainly one of them :) . Also, Attack is the first Indian Super Soldier film which made me even more curious to watch after a thrilling trailer.

So, if you need some hard-hitting gun blazing, bike and car chases, Attack is definitely worth watching. Icing on the cake is the superb background score and John Abraham's performance ( yes he is improving with his expressions)

Rudra: The Edge of Darkness
(2022)

The best thing about Rudra is Ajay Devgn
Rudra tells the story DCP (Rudraveer "Rudra" Singh" (played by Ajay Devgn ) whose marriage is on the rocks as he is facing the challenge of solving a murder case which is complex, bloody and gruesome.

While Idris Elba's character in Luther was sparkling but obsessed cop, Ajay Devgn's character is calm and intriguing. Directed by Rajesh Mapuskar (National Award winning director of Marathi film, Ventilator), Rudra completely surprises you with the story of cat and mouse game between a psychopath criminal and a smart cop. The 6-episodes web series starts off with usual personal life mess of a cop but gets to the point directly over the time and keeps you engrossed till the actual drama unfolds. The sizzling chemistry between Ajay Devgn and Raashii Khann is the highlight of the web series. Credit goes to the director for handling the thriller quite well along with the writers as well. Dialogues are good. Story is awesome. Background score is nice. Cinematography is good and so was editing (I like it when they keep it short and simple).

The best thing about #disneyhotstar's Rudra is Ajay Devgn who delivers a power-packed performance in this taut-crime thriller.

The Fame Game
(2022)

Successfully Brings The Aura And Grace Of Madhuri Dixit
The Fame Game tells the story of the most popular actress India, Anamika Anand (played by Madhuri Dixit) who is living two lives - one of a superstar and one of a dedicated wife, mother, friend, mentor and a loner, who is forced to make choices. The main event triggers when the India's most loved star disappears all of sudden and neither her family nor her friends have any clue about it. What follows next is the hunt, investigation and interrogations which includes dark secrets and fantasies of the superstar and her beloved people.

The Fame Game, kind of, pays tribute to the shining star in every possible way by breaking into her song, Chane Ke Khet Mein, or divulging into her scene from her previous films. This will definitely be a treat to her fans.

Unfortunately, the web series starts of well but loses the focus later with wafer-thin script which could have been sharper and convincing in this eight episode glamour drama. The editing should have been tighter with few episodes trimmed down to make it a better watch. Even though the cracks start appearing in the plot, the performances of the actors will keep you hooked coupled with grandeur sets, astounding back ground score and above all - Madhuri Dixit

The Fame Game belongs to the epitome of talent, Madhuri Dixit, who shines bright in each and every scene that will make you fall in love with her.

Mahaan
(2022)

Vikram Electrifies The Gangster Drama With Brilliant Act
Mahaan tells the story of a simple school teacher, Gandhi Mahaan (played by Vikram), who leads a boring and regular life. He is frustrated as he has just turned 40 and has not done anything which excites him. He wants to break away from the shackles and lead an adventures life. His life turns topsy-turvy when his wife and son abandons him which gives him a chance to live the way he wants. He soon partners with his childhood friend and become a liquor baron only to meet his son later, who has turned into a police officer and vows to bring down his father's empire at any cost.

Directed by Karthik Subbaraj (Pizza), Mahaan is like a bottle of wine which you will enjoy with each and every sip as you will get involved in the film with diverse characters that entertains you right to the core

With his god-like performance, style and attitude, Vikram makes Mahaan a must watch film.

Rocket Boys
(2022)

Will Make You Proud With Winning Moments
Sony LIV's Rocket Boys will take you into space technology for national development, which will inspire and motivate you with head-strong story of three genius who have played a pivotal role in creating history for India.

Rocket Boys takes you through the journey of events right from India's independence in 1947, launch of first nuclear program and space program which involved geniuses like Homi J Bhabha, Vikram Sarabhai and APJ Abdul Kalam who despite the struggle, different thinking, approach, political pressure and disagreement, creates history for India which made us proud with their achievements.

There are two things which can ignite the curiosity in you to watch the 8 episode web series drama - Abhay Pannu takes the director's seat along with the creator Nikkhil Advani to show interesting tale of how the Indian Space Program was orchestrated. After watching Rocket Boys, your thirst for a perfect captivating web series will be quenched thanks to the solid entertainment, powerful dialogues and electrifying performances that will keep you hooked till the last episode. A big clap to the team, including the writers (Abhay Koranne and Kausar Munir) for researching and taking us into the world of science during the 1940-1960 period by keeping it raw and real.

Rocket Boys is flavored with a brilliant background by Achint Thakkar (Scam 992) with magnificent cinematography by Harshvir Oberao, outstanding production design by Meghna Gandhi and splended art direction by Pradeep Nigam. On the flip side, the story of Indian space seemed bit long and stretched at some times as the web series also talks about the personal lives of the geniuses along which I felt misplaced and could have shortened by few episodes.

Rocket Boys boast of some of the finest performances in recent times. To start with first and the foremost are Jim Sarbh and Ishwak Singh who gave knockout performance as they deep-dives into the body language of Homi Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai. Arjun Radhakrishnan is simply superb as APJ Abdul Kalam who strikes a perfect balance in the beautiful story. Apart from these, Regina Cassandra, Saba Azad, Rajit Kapoor and Rajiv Kachroo were a solid support.

On the whole, Rocket Boys is nice, brave attempt with wonderful direction and hard-hitting performances. Good 3/5. Go for it.

Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein
(2022)

An Engrossing Obsessive Love Drama With Stellar Performances
Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein tells the story of a simple guy Vikrant (Tahir Raj Bhasin) who is forced to get hitched with Purva (Anchal Kumar), daughter of big shot local politician. Vikrant is in love with Shikha (Shweta Tripathi) and must find a way out to break away from the shackle before his life goes into a dark path.

From the director of extremely lovable, Apharan, Sidharth Sengupta comes back with yet another crime drama which will keep you engaged right from the beginning. While the trailer of Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein was a plain simple giving a notion of obsessed lover desiring her object, the 8 episodes web series turned out to be much better than expected

Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein is a refreshing take on obsessive love with twist and turns that will keep you guessing till the end.

Minnal Murali
(2021)

Best Superhero Film Of India
Finally we have got the best superhero film in India, Minnal Murali, that perfectly fits the genre with its thrilling and definitely a ground- breaking and never seen before CGI on Indian screen.

Minnal Murali is the coming-of-age story of Jaison (Tovino Thomas), a local village tailor, who gets struck by lightning and is transformed into a super hero. Well, this isn't simple as it sounds. There is another person from his village who gets the thunder bolt at the same time as Jaison, only become the super villain who plans to take on the entire village as he looses the love of his life.

There has been few super heroes film made in India like Krrish, Bhavesh Joshi, A Flying Jatt, Ra. One, Mr. India, Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota etc. Except for last two and to some extent Bhavesh Joshi, others could not invoke the emotion of a perfect superhero flick with shabby visual effects, bad editing and over-the-top screenplay. Directed by Basil Joseph, Minnal Murali is a welcome change, an all-rounder superhero film that Indian audience has been looking to where the superhero focuses on his special power to fight off the supervillain to save his village. Hats off to Basil Joseph as he did a solid job and turned this comic-story into an enjoyable fun ride. The introduction of each superhero is astounding as both hero and villain characters realizes their power which has been portrayed ecstatically. First half boast off some path-breaking action sequences, especially the climax fighting which is well executed. Screenplay is good along with the punching dialogues. Cinematography is enthralling. The CGI is magnificent with thrilling visual effects supported by electrifying background. On the flip side, the editing could have been managed along with the length of the film.

Minnal Murali is enhanced with a very good characters performances. Tovino Thomas in dual role steals the show and performs exceptionally well as it was tailor-made for him. Ditto for Guru Somasundaram who also gets struck by lightning and gains superpowers. Watch for him as he breaks into tears when his lady love accepts his proposal.

Overall, Minnal Murali is probably the best super hero drama ever to come out in Indian Cinema which gives a knockout performance. Fantastic 4/5.

The boxing drama is produced by Weekend Blockbusters and is currently streaming on Netflix.

Finch
(2021)

Tom Hanks carries the film like a boss !!!
Tom Hanks is such marvelous actor that he can get into the skin of any character and does it with so ease that convinces the audience.

Finch (played by Tom Hanks) is struggling to survive both mentally as well physically in the post-apocalyptic world in the company of a dog and a robot. He knows that he is getting old and will not be able to make it through, so he invents another AI based human-like robot who imitates the activity of Finch so that they can travel as far as possible away from storms which tends to threaten them.

From the director of Game Of Throne series, Finch is a heart-warming and compassionate film which will make you smile, laugh and cry with its moments. The film could have been better just like Tom Hanks's previous classic Cast Away, but looses the steam towards second half. Nevertheless, the powerful performances and few brilliant scenes and Finch can be a pleasant watch with your family.

Jai Bhim
(2021)

Do Yourself A Favor, Leave Everything And Watch Suriya's Hard-Hitting Drama
Jai Bhim turned out to be a hard-hitting, raw and powerful court-room drama. The purpose of cinema is not just to entertain but also educate and empower the audience. The courtroom drama based movies are always engaging as the prosecutor and defendant both fight to solve the case with solid evidences and innumerable witnesses.

Bollywood Films like "Damini", "Jolly LLB","Talvar" "Rustom", "Pink" or even "Section 375" have been immensely successful in keeping the audience engaged with impeccable dialogues and fantastic screenplay but what makes Jai Bhim different is the beautiful message on morality and equality of a tribal woman who fights for the justice of her husband.

Jai Bhim is based on 1995 Habeas Corpus petition in which human right activist cum lawyer K. Chandru ( played by Suriya ), who takes up the case of Irular tribe couple (Rajakannu and Sengeni) where the husband is wrongly convicted by local police for stealing ornaments from village head's house.

As Jai Bhim opens, we see that cops segregating the prisoners based on their caste. Among all the caste, the tribal people becomes the easy target for the cops to clear the pending cases under the influence of their political head. We also see how Rajakannu, the main accused in the jewelry case, is forcibly taken away from his family. The film goes back in the flashback mode where life of the tribal couple is beautiful in the serene village where they hone the skills of catching rat for their bosses. As their life progresses, in one of the event Rajakannu and his brothers are caught for the crime which they did not commit. They go through extreme level of police harassment and torture which will be very hard to digest and is completely raw. Enter Chandra a.k.a Suriya who takes up the case when Sengeni narrates the entire incident and request to help find her husband who as per police, has been absconding from the jail.

Jai Bhim is one such hair-raising film which is definitely difficult to digest as it gives you goosebumps and eye-popping experience. Screenplay is the hero with nail-biting moments. Art direction is fine while Cinematography is excellent. Suriya is a knight in shining armor. Watch out for him in the second half when he questions the witnesses in the courtroom. It is unforgettable performance which should be lauded for its sheer brilliance. Among the actors - Manikandan and Lijomol Jose are mind-blowing with their natural performances. Prakash Raj does well as IG.

Jai Bhim is an experience that needs to be lauded for its impeccable direction, electrifying performances and beautiful message. Excellent 4/5.

Cruella
(2021)

Dazzling Visual Treat With Commendable Performances
The best part of watching a Disney film is that it is vibrant, colorful , cheerful embedded with a solid storyline. Cruella belongs to same genre but with different style and attitude.

Based on The Hundred and One Dalmatians by Dodie Smith, Cruella is the live-action adaptation in the 101 Dalmatians franchise which is prequel and tells how Estella (played by Emma Stone) becomes Cruella De Vil after she gets the chance to land in her dream job at an atelier run by the Baroness Von Hellman (played by Emma Thompson).

As the movie begins , you are introduced to the 1960's era in England with fantastic introduction of each character. The film captures some of best moments when Estella begins her journey of lifetime to find her identity. The fantasy world , unbelievable characters and funny comic scenes puts icing on the cake. Hats off to Craig Gillespie (I,Tonya, Million Dollar Arm and The Finest Hour) for doing his job brilliantly. The screenplay by Dana Fox and Tony McNamara works as you will be engaged in the cold war between Cruella and the Baroness. CGI is outstanding adding colors to the brilliant visual effects. The eye-catching cinematography , gorgeous sets , amazing art -direction and superb visual effects make the film worth watching more than once.

Emma Stone gives yet another stupendous performance. The actress of Zombieland (2009) , Easy A (2010) , Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011) and the drama The Help (2011). Is growing stronger day by day. Veteran actress Emma Stone is perfect for the role of cunning and selfish Baroness von Hellman. She brings out the spark every time she appears on screen. Kudos to other actors who keep the movie entertained with lovely performances.

Overall, Cruella is clever and stylish reboot to the classic Walt Disney's 101 Dalmatians with sterling performances. Go for it.

Cruella is currently streaming on Disney+Hotstar and is produced by Marc Platt productions, Walt Disney Pictures and Gunn Films.

Shershaah
(2021)

Every Indian Should Watch Brave Story Of Vikram Batra Brilliantly Portrayed By Sidharth Malhotra
When ever there is a war, natural calamity or a terrorist attack, the first people to come out and protect is Indian Army, who selflessly support us with their act of bravery. With never-ending tension going between India and Pakistan, so many sacrifices are being made by our Indian soldiers whose duty is to save the citizen from the scum of the Earth. To honor the soldiers who have laid down their lives to serve the country, there are few movies being made to tell the stories of gallantry. One such movie is on the Vikram Batra biopic drama, Shershaah, which stars Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani.

Shershaah chronicles the life and story of the brave soldiers Vikram Batra (played by Sidharth Malhotra) who led a very difficult operation in Kargil War against Pakistan and even managed to pull down the enemy soldiers in hand combat, ensuring a solid victory for our motherland.

Directed by Vishnu Vardhan, Shershaah is one such film which will keep you engaged right from the beginning till the electrifying climax. The powerful true story of Vikram Batra along with other soldiers who have sacrificed and struggled to ensure that safety of Indian citizen is their top most priority, The makers have done a fabulous job in portraying the stress, blood and sweat displayed by our honorable soldiers. Couple of scenes did caught my attention - Pakistani missiles hitting the Indian base in a surprise attack, the action scene at the police check point and last but not the least, the final showdown - which is the climax scene showing the ultimate sacrifice by Vikram Batra when he exposes himself to the enemy fire trying to drag the injured soldier to safety, and in the process was shot. We get to see the real heroes only through some newspaper articles or social media who fought for their country, sacrificed their family and could not even return back to their motherland. Thanks to films like Shershaah speaks the true events of making of a soldier and the hardship and struggle these war machines go through.

The initial reels had romantic track showing how Vikram Batra meets his fiancee Dimple hampers the momentum of the biopic drama, though the chemistry between Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani is sparkling. Also, it is high time, Bollywood can start making biopics without songs and melodrama which sometimes play the spoilsports. Nevertheless, writing by Sandeep Shrivastava is brilliant which should be lauded. Technically, Shershaah boast off brilliant cinematography capturing the beautiful locales of Kashmir and Ladakh. Art direction is mind-blowing while background score creates more tension

Talking about performance, Sidharth Malhotra essays the role of Vikram Batra with T. The actor successfully shows diverse expressions of Vikram Batra right from the beginning when he joins the Indian Army as a rookie to the gallant soldier who fights for his country till his last breath. Shershaah might be a turning point in Sidharth Malhotra's career who comes up with a brave performance. In the supporting role, Kiara Advani, Shiv Pandit and Nikitin Dheer have acted their part with equal justice.

So overall, Shershaah is a spellbinding tale of a brave soldier which should be lauded and appreciated for its genuine attempt. Very good 3.5/5.

Dial 100
(2021)

Enthralling Performances With Clever Gripping Story That Will Keep You Engaged
How far would you go to save your loved ones for your wrong deeds ? Premiered on Zee5, the Manoj Bajpayee, Neena Gupta and Sakshi Tanwar starrer Dial 100 has enough moments to keep you engrossed.

Dial 100 tells the story of random call received by Senior Police Inspector Nikhil Sood (Manoj Bajpayee) from Seema (Neena Gupta). Once into the call, the conversation between Nikhil and Seema turns interesting as she is on the verge of killing Nikhil's two most beloved person in the world - his wife Prerna (Sakshi Tanwar) and their 18-year-old son, Dhruv (Svar Kamble)

Directed by Rensil D's Silva (earlier made Kurbaan and Ungli), the plot of Dial 100 happens only for one night in which the protagonist races against time to save his family. The movie opens on a promising note when an unknown caller shocks a seasoned police officer with a devastating message. As the cat and mouse game begin between Nikhil and Seema, the thriller becomes edgy and will keep you engaged. However, with the onset of the climax, the movie falls flat. I did not understand why Nikhil had to become a one man-army and perform all the activities by himself even though he was surrounded by so many police men who could have helped him rescue his wife and kid. Also, the steam with which film gathers the space is lost out in the second half.

Luckily, Dial 100 does not have any songs which interrupts the flow of the movie nor is there any time wasted on unnecessary scenes which diverts the track of the film. Thanks to the editing and interesting premise coupled with amazing cinematography, Dial 100 falls in line with the expectation.

Performances by the star cast is the silver lining of the film - Manoj Bajpayee plays both the role of a cop and a helpless father with utmost sincerity. Sakshi Tanwar is another gem of actor who continue to throw surprise with her natural ability to perform. Even though , Neena Gupta's character has not been sketch properly, the talented actress embarks yet another convincing performance.

Overall, Dial 100 is a 90-minute escape that manages to keep you engaged thanks to the wonderful performances by Manoj Bajpayee, Neena Gupta and Sakshi Tanwar.

The Suicide Squad
(2021)

Pumps Up The Adrenaline With Gun Blazes, Witty And Fun-Filled Popcorn Entertainment
DC comics is finally making a comeback with re-boots and better version of the previous fiascos which made the fans unhappy few years back. After the receiving huge respect from DC Universe fans in form of Zack Snyder's brilliant version of Justice League, make way for James Gunn's new and improved The Suicide Squad over the disappointing Suicide Squad released in 2016.

In The Suicide Squad , we see Viola Davis returns to her role as U. S. government official Amanda Waller pulling out the most dreaded and probably the most weirdest characters from the prison to make the deadliest anti-hero squad - Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Peacemaker (John Cena), Weasel (Sean Gunn), Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior), Colonel Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), Javelin (Flula Borg), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Savant (Michael Rooker) and Sylvester Stallone as the voice of Nanaue / King Shark, for a top-notch secret mission to destroy the mysterious starfish project as they are dropped off in the island of Corto Maltese.

James Gunn (who directed the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise for Marvel), makes The Suicide Squad more thrilling and exciting than the David Ayer's Suicide Squad released in 2016. While the few cast remains the same and few were killed off instantly as the first team of Task Force X gets duped by a sudden tip-off while the second team assemble with the first one later to get The Suicide Squad. The witty humor with one-liners is witnessed throughout the film which keeps you entertained with background soundtrack from Johnny Cash and Louis Prima. James Gunn manages to keep the energy even though somewhere in between the plot gets sidetrack (Harley Quinn escaping from the prison had larger-than-life action stunt) and 2nd half loses the steam with so many stories interwoven under the same umbrella. I also felt that makers could have done few scenes without showing killing of birds (even though it was visual but creates a wrong impression with the audience) but with astonishing climax where the battle between Starfish and The Suicide Squad will give you a thrilling ride. It was definitely a refreshing and unique super-hero flick with infused fun-elements making it an enjoyable fun ride. The introduction of each superhero with unique super power is hilarious, especially Sylvester Stallone's King Shark. The camera work is spectacular (check out for the fight scene between the The Peace-maker and Colonel Rick Flag in the reflection of a helmet).

Screenplay is good along with funny dialogues. Cinematography is enthralling. The CGI is magnificent with thrilling visual effects. On the flip side , any superhero movie is supported by electrifying background which is clearly missing here. Nevertheless, it is compensated by powerful performances by rest of the star cast.

Overall , an action-packed entertainment with good storyline and lovely performances. It is definitely an improvement over a 2016 version of Suicide Squad which deserves to be experienced, applauded and remembered. Go for it - 3.5/5.
