Catwoman
(2004)

Suprisingly enjoyable!
2.6 and already in the bottom 100! Why? I was expecting a really bad movie but was actually quite suprised. It's a lot better then Daredevil & Hulk for a start, the CGI may look ropey but it's just as bad in Spider-man 2 and you should really expect it by now.

Halle Berry was watchable, I wanted to say she was awful especially since she ruined the last Bond movie but compared to the wooden performance of Uma Thurman in the highly regarded Kill Bill, they should give her another oscar!

Undead
(2003)

really really BAD!
the funniest part of the dvd was the quote on the cover,

"Everything about this film is exceptional" - Harry Knowles

I think he meant Excrement. It truly is a terrible movie!

The acting is so lifeless it's hard to tell the Zombies from the living. If you want to watch a funny zombie spoof, watch Shaun of the Dead and make sure you stay clear of this garbage.

1/10

The Rundown
(2003)

rubbish
The movie started well but that all ended with the nightclub scene.

The Rock continues to show he is quite a good actor despite being a wrestler.

Sean William Scott continues with the usual character, for the most part it's no longer funny. An example being the bird noises, he did exactly the same thing in "Evolution", it wasn't too funny then and it's even less funny second time around.

Walken is usually always reliable but the script does him no favours, cringe as he acts the tough guy through telling a story of the tooth fairy.

it's as entertaining as wrestling!

Fahrenheit 9/11
(2004)

People will believe anything!
Personally I think it's wrong for people like Michael Moore to make movies like this. Fahrenheit offers a one-sided argument, created soley to influence people to Moores viewpoint.

It just seems so obvious that half this movie is probably incorrect, much like the media they tend to make mistakes when reporting so called facts. Does anyone really believe Bush can drop being president and take a Holiday 42% of the year?

You may think I like George Bush, but I'm in the UK and personally couldn't care less..

Kill Bill: Vol. 2
(2004)

Awful
I wasn't too impressed with the first half of Kill Bill but at least I managed to watch it right through. After 40 minutes of Kill Bill 2 I left the cinema, it really is that bad. .

Every scene dragged, this movie is padded to fill the running time. What was the point of Michael Madsens character visiting his workplace? That dull scene took up about 10 minutes and the only thing it accomplished was showing Madsen get laid off for the next 4 days..

but at the end of the day this movie is directed by Tarantino, so I'll go with the trend and award it 10/10.

House II: The Second Story
(1987)

awful
I have no idea why this movie has a higher rating then House 3 (a.k.a The Horror Show) which is actually quite good. .

House 2 is on the other hand is quite possibly one on the worst horror sequels you will ever see, if you don't believe me then try watching it..

1/5

IMO the original House and House 3 are the only good movies in the entire series.

Hellraiser: Inferno
(2000)

Finally a Good Hellraiser Sequel
A sequel on-par with the first two Hellraiser movies.

Don't be fooled by the direct-to-video status, this is a solid movie and much better then most things appearing on the big screen.

You'll notice a lot of fans slating this sequel because of the limited on-screen time from Pinhead and the lack of cheap gore effects but whilst they are happy to praise utter garbage like Bloodline and Hell-on-Earth they are overlooking a good, original sequel in the Hellraiser Series.

Anyone who has seen the Tim Robbins movie "Jacobs Ladder" will be in familiar territory with Inferno, the movies low budget roots are concealed as this sequel moves away from cheap gore effects and instead creates an eerie atmosphere throughout this psychological thriller.

The only downside to this movie is the next sequel (Hellseeker) is very similar and is basically an updated version of the same idea. Still I highly recommend renting this one if your a fan of the original.

Hellraiser: Hellseeker
(2002)

-- The Best Sequel since Hellbound --
It's a shame to see this sequel being slated for being different. Hellseeker moves away from being another low budget, direct-to-video Hellraiser installment and instead provides an original spin on a dying franchise.

This sequel doesn't need cheap gore effects to create a good Horror atmosphere, it also shows Pinhead doesn't need to physically harm his victims to make them suffer, at least not straight away ;) this makes Pinhead a more calculated character, watching him toy with his victims emotions!

highly recommended!

Midnight Cowboy
(1969)

great performances but over-rated
Hoffman and Voight are great but the movie didn't meet my expectations.

Firstly I was annoyed the Flashback sequences never got explained (it looked like Joe Bucks girlfriend was raped, and Buck got the blame?) and scenes such as the woman pulling a toy rat out of her hair and running it over her childs face also left me clueless? if there was any meaning behind them, it wasn't clear.

Secondly I didn't feel the movie went anywhere.

The only praise I could give it, is for Hoffman and Voights performance, I'd mention the soundtrack but that was just one good song overplayed.

Kill Bill: Vol. 2
(2004)

Awful
I wasn't too impressed with the first half of Kill Bill but at least I managed to watch it right through. After 40 minutes of Kill Bill 2 I left the cinema, it really is that bad. .

Truth or Consequences, N.M.
(1997)

Great Movie!
Decided to gamble on this unknown movie after it was recieving so much praise from my Video Shop members, and its great. I'm quite suprised it didn't get a cinema release..

Hopefully after the success of Kiefer Sutherlands "24" it might gain some more recognition from fans of the series. I doubt they will be dissapointed as this is a classy action/thriller with first class acting and a perfect soundtrack..

Highly recommended

Hellboy
(2004)

Ron Perlman is perfect, the movie is not!
Ron Perlman delivers a great performance as Hellboy, so it's a shame this movie is average at best.

It's got loads of CGI effects but very little else. Parts of the movie just annoyed me, take for example when the young FBI agent gets to see his first mutant, why is he not shocked??

Overall I enjoyed it more than Daredevil & Hulk but thats not saying much as this was just another case of Style over Substance in the latest of superhero cash-ins.

I'd probably give it about... 5/10

Belly of the Beast
(2003)

Seagals best Movie since Exit Wounds
After the awful Foreigner & Out for a Kill I had this movie written-off before I'd watched it, thankfully it turned out to be much better then recent efforts.

Lots of action, sometimes a bit overkill (how many people were shot!). I don't know if Seagal is continuing to make Eastern movies now but this was all the better for it!

What was with the car on the front cover of the DVD though? Did I miss that part? :)

Donnie Darko
(2001)

Terrible!
Its a shame this movie didn't get a proper cinema release, if it had it wouldn't appear in the Top 250!

The only way to truly understand the plot is to read the "Time Travel" book bundled in the DVDs Special Features!! (how poor is that!) This easily clears everything up and reveals the plot. Is that Clever? Not really because anyone can write a story that nobody would understand unless having it explained to them.

Dismal, Dull, Darko. 1/10

In Hell
(2003)

A different style for Van Damme
Not what we expect from Van Damme, most of the time he's getting battered, and when he did fight it was just throwing punches. Saying that it's a watchable movie and probably one of Van Dammes better acting attempts, playing the part of a broken man who cant fight.

Much better then his last movie Derailed and shows Van Damme isn't bowing out yet. Lets just hope his next movie brings us more action and less drama!

Underworld
(2003)

One of this years better action films!
Despite being about Vampires Vs Werewolves the plot was taken seriously and panned out well. Watching it straight after Tarantinos latest Kill Bill, Id say this was easily the better movie of the night!

Kate Beckinsdale looked so damn nice in leather too! ;)

Cradle 2 the Grave
(2003)

so DMX is a better martial artist then Jet Li?
Who'd have thought DMX was as skillful in combat as Jet Li? This film would certainly make you believe

that. I only managed to watch halfway through but with MTV style filming and laughable effects

(DMX running up a wall) it makes you wonder why they used Li when anyone could have done the same job.

Why do new action films continue using rappers too? They cant act, DMX may have been passable in Exit Wounds but in this he is the main star, any unknown ACTOR would have been 10x better.

The dialogue is laughable,

DMX - "Its about time you PMD'd" Jet - "what?" DMX - "Put Me Down"

he wanted informing, I would have thought he wanted shooting!

another dissapointment from Jet Li, once they stop dishing out these poor Rap action movies we may see

him do something to show his talent.

Executive Decision
(1996)

Had Potential until Seagal dropped out!
Why was Seagals name plastered all over the cover when he was nothing more then an extended cameo? Was fooled into thinking it may be a decent action flick. As soon as Seagal dropped out any hope of some good action was gone especially with the character Russell was playing.

Out for a Kill
(2003)

the only thing hes killing is his career :(
This had potential, the plot was similar to Out for Justice. Seagal loses everything and goes to take revenge. Sadly it was nowhere near as good.

* Seagal looked dismal throughout (wheres his smile gone?), most of his lines were probably dubbed over after the scenes were shot because you could never see him talking.

* In some scenes the clouds in the sky were speeded up (why?) it looked like something out of a horror movie.

* At one point Seagal uses the Austin Powers method by asking the same question 3 times and getting an answer on the 3rd!

* The main Triad Boss puts on a dodgy accent which made him sound like he's dying, when I think he was supposed to be sinister or something!

* There was more action then his latest films, but they were poorly filmed and the fight in the barber shop was a wirework joke.

and theres loads of other bad points. If anyone likes cheesy action movies they dont come any cheesier then this!

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life
(2003)

Much better then the original!
I wasn't a big fan of the original Tomb Raider, enjoyed this sequel more!

There's more action and while OTT at times never manages to drop to the Charlies Angels standard, thankfully there's no slow-mo bullet time either! :D

Angelina Jolie is the perfect choice for Lara Croft, and is much more flexible second time around! :) The only two bad points was the waste of Barrie as the waiter (again!) and THAT scene with the Shark!

Its Indiana Jones meets James Bond!

House of 1000 Corpses
(2003)

awful!
2 young couples help captive and tortured in a house because they were too stupid to leave, whilst waiting for the pathetic efforts of the police to try and save them.

I almost fell asleep listening to that girl wimper along for the last half hour!

This Horror is right up there with I Still KNow what you did Last Summer!

awful!

The Transporter
(2002)

Diesel move over, Statham is the next action hero!
Apart from Snatch I've never really liked Statham in anything so wasn't expecting much from the Transporter. How wrong I was!

Statham plays the action hero perfectly, he looked as talented as Jet Li in this movie! There's loads of action, in fact its one of the best action movies I've seen since taking a chance on an unknown movie called "Drive"

I'm now actually looking forward to Stathams next movie!

Out for Justice
(1991)

Fantastic!
"I'll need an Undercover car and a Shotgun!"

Its the only action film Ive seen where the Police Chief lets the Hero get on with the job, he even fetches Seagal the shotgun! :)

Forsythe turns in a great performance as the mental bad-guy and the end fight is another first for action movies, we dont see Seagal get knocked around a bit to make the finale more Dramatic, Seagal just walks in and beats the hell out of him!!

Great Action movie from the days when Seagal was at his prime!

Hard to Kill
(1990)

Great Action Movie!
This has to be my favourite Seagal movie, and one of my all time best actions. In action movies theres no better plot then having the Hero out for Revenge, you know your in for some good action when they are p****d off! Sure the revenge plot has been used countless times since this movie but at least it works and gives us a good excuse for action, which is why we watch these films in the first place!

IMO Seagals best closely followed by Out for Justice!

Siu Lam juk kau
(2001)

It had its moments!
Most Asian movies have terrible Humour, its the type of humour 3-7 Year Olds may find amusing, so I was a little cautious about buying a full-on Comedy.

It wasnt as bad as I was expecting! Chow is a good actor and carries the film and some scenes are very amusing (the first goal was brilliant) but it still has that asian humour (thankfully not much) which it could do without.

Another bad point was the last 20 minutes were rubbish. It was like watching the Intro on Pro Evo 2 without the Queen music, it was just computer effects, which although looked fantastic, were pointless.
